Ski downhill from the Union Pass Lift, along Morley Drive and into Mountain Haus' backyard for lunch or at the end of the day. Many ski season guests like the freedom of a rental car to visit other attractions in the valley, but others rely on the Teton Village Shuttle Bus(which runs until 10 pm) and the Jackson START Bus which accesses the Town of Jackson with its additional shopping, restaurants and bars.

Relax on one of the balconies or in the outdoor private hot tub to enjoy the plentiful wildlife surrounding the house year round.

This home sleeps up to 17 people in three king-size bedrooms, three queen-size beds, one full-size, two extra long twins and one additional twin. Your vacation will be made as convenient as possible with the inclusion of many extras such as a pool table, foosball table, games, toys, X-box, poker chips for hours of entertainment. Wireless Internet and Cable TV/VCR/DVD in every bedroom; smart TV's in 4 bedrooms and the Great Room!

The front door is level with the large driveway. There is plenty of parking for your group. The yard is left natural to accommodate the wildlife. The five bedrooms of 'The Mountain Haus' are named after the famous mountain peaks that surround the 1800's fur trapper Davey Jackson's 'Hole'. The large entry hallway has a graceful staircase to the Great Room and large 'Grand Teton' master bedroom and bath with king bed, fireplace and soaking tub. The remaining four bedrooms are back down the staircase on the entry level. The 'Rendezvous' and 'Moran' bedrooms are on the left, each has king bed and private bath. The family wing on the right has two additional bedrooms, a shared double sink bath with private access from both bedrooms: The 'Apres Vous' bedroom has a queen over queen bunk bed and separate extra-long twin bed; the larger 'Sleeping Indian' bedroom has two bunk beds: twin over a full sized bed and extra-long twin over a queen bed.

The private hot tub is level with the entry, just a few feet from the front door but set privately amongst the trees.

There is an extensive local library available to guests with Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks information and guidebooks to borrow for your stay. A seasonal Jackson Hole Tourist Information packet can be mailed to every guest to enhance the planning of your special vacation.

The kitchen is extremely well stocked and even the most discerning cooks enjoy having most things at their fingertips. No need to buy all the extras like most rental homes: detergents, napkins, foil, paper products, trash bags and more! All linens are supplied and housekeeping upon departure is also included for no additional fee. The house is designed for your family and friends to just come, enjoy and relax!

About Debbie & Dan

I am a retired dentist and reside on my ranch a few miles away from Teton Village. Dan and I personally manage my 4 short term vacation rentals and are always available for any questions or difficulties our guests may encounter. We love Jackson Hole and surrounding forests and National Parks.

Debbie & Dan purchased this chalet in 1997

Why Debbie & Dan chose Teton Village

Jackson Hole Ski Area is one of the best ski areas in the US. Although I have skied all over the world, I have never been an expert or extreme skier. The variety and expanse of terrain here means that one never gets bored! My boys learned to ski on the Teewinot and Apres Vous side of the resort, and now enjoy skiing and boarding the entire mountain. The resort is large enough to separate the beginner/intermediate areas at the north end from the challenging cliffs, chutes and un-groomed powder runs that Jackson is famous for.

I was living in the Bay Area for many years ago and visiting my cabin in Tahoe for my mountain experience, but ultimately moved to Jackson Hole.

There are actually more visitors to this area in Summer than in Winter. There are several reasons for that: #1 We have two national parks within an hour's drive. Grand Teton National Park, adjacent to and just north of Teton Village, and Yellowstone National Park, about 60 miles north. All of the countryside in-between is 'open space', with only a few in-holdings and human comforts. The two parks are incredibly disimiliar in character. Grand Teton has it's towering spine of mountain peaks, glaciers and lakes below; Yellowstone is a high plateau situated so close to the earth's magma that it has the highest concentration of natural thermal features in the world: geysers, boiling mud pots, bright-colored thermal pools, steam vents....but both parks have an important feature in common...wildlife. I have to admit this is a weakness. Tahoe has a wonderful black bear and deer population that I always enjoyed, but in the Greater Yellowstone Region, of which Jackson Hole (which defines a long valley with several small towns including the Town of Jackson and Teton Village) our wildlife including elk, bears, moose, bison and wolves flourish.

What makes this chalet unique

Mountain Haus is fully stocked with more items than the average rental home. Through my extensive travels, I always appreciated books, movies, toys for the kids, a great room with games and a fully stocked kitchen.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We came a long way to spend a week in "Mountain Haus"! It has been great and we have really enjoyed the place. Lots of skiing and really good food. Six families have spent time in the house and it has been perfect for us. Today we went to see the Elk Refuge and saw a lot of elk and it was really nice to see the National Park also. Thank you for a lovely time! From the Sweden gang!

Excellent Family Place to Stay in the Tetons

  • 5 of 5

Our family, including grandkids, had a wonderful time at Mountain Haus. We enjoyed the facilities - private rooms and community spaces. Its proximity to the Teton's National Park was a real plus. The added sports facility pass was great for the grandkids swimming. Our whole family was appreciative of the great facilities.

We had a wonderful time

  • 5 of 5

Our 3 generation family had a good time during our weeks stay at this home. The things we loved about it were the bedrooms and bathrooms are spread out giving everyone nice personal space. The updated bathrooms were very nice. Our grown kids especially loved the hot tub every evening. The kitchen was big a spacious with a bar long enough to hold all our snack items. Everyone could see and reach whatever they wanted. The kitchen was well stocked so we didn’t have to Bring spices and all that. It is a beautiful space. The privacy of the house which sits on an acre was very nice too! We couldn’t see our neighbors. We got to see a bull moose 2-3 mornings grazing right next door and we had mule deer wander through our yard. Those were special treats! The only down side for us was that you enter the house at ground level and have to walk up stairs to get to the kitchen and living room. We had our near 80 year old parents with us and that was a challenge for them since we were coming and going so much during the day. They didn’t complain and made it fine but it would have been easier if the main living area was on ground level for our group. (Which obviously you can’t change this)

I believe the house is pet friendly so I would recommend removing all carpet and having easy to clean floors in every room. Overall we had a great experience and would recommend this house to rent.

Wonderful stay at Mountain Haus

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay at the Haus. Because of all of the new renovations & updates in the last two years, our visit was even more comfortable than before. We loved the roominess and the convenient Village location. The Park entrance is only about 3 miles away. The Haus was very clean & airy when we arrived. The owners are responsive and nice to deal with. We will be back.

Beautiful Extended Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

This property was perfect for our large group! The house contained everything we needed and more! I can't thank you enough for all the thought you put into all the furnishings and supplies, we needed for nothing! Within walking distance to the Teton Village stores and a short drive into Jackson made everything so accessible. We saw lots of wildlife right from the patio and enjoyed the beautiful weather and scenery. I would highly recommend this property and hope to visit it again soon.

Lovely house, great location, many amenities, well-stocked with basic supplies

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 15 (4 adult children & their 5 young children) found this a perfect floor plan. Spacious gathering room/kitchen & outside decks gave all places to be together.

Mountain House Week

  • 5 of 5

We are a group of four adults on a ski vacation. The mountain house was perfect place for my group. The house is very clean, comfortable, well maintained , and accurately depicted in the pictures. The entry level has four bedrooms, three bathrooms and the laundry room. The two bedrooms with king beds have their own bathrooms and the two bunk bed rooms share one bathroom. The bedding is quite comfortable. There are plenty of towels for both the bathrooms and separate towels for the hot tub. The upstairs has the large master bedroom with private bath and fireplace. The remaining upstairs is a large open space made of the kitchen, the dinning area, and the family room.

The kitchen is well stocked so that you won't need to buy condiments, cleaning supplies, or paper products, The appliances are all in good shape and there are plenty of pots and pans and cooking utensils. There is an outdoor grill which we did not use. The living area has couches with a flatscreen TV with working cable. The wifi worked well. There is also a foosball table and pool table.

The house is on the mountain but not ski-in ski-out. You can either drive 2 minutes to the mountain base (and pay $20 to park) or walk ten minutes up a slight hill to the slopes. This option requires two surface lifts to get to the base. If there is snow on the road you can ski home, if not you walk back down the hill.

The hot tub worked great with no issues. The laundry was well stocked and in good working order. I spoke with Dan several times prior to renting and our arrival. He was very good to work with and was willing to help with our plans. We had no issues during our week therefore did not speak to him during our stay. Of note, there is no garage but plenty of room to park in the driveway. I highly recommend staying at the mountain house if you are planning a ski vacation at Jackson Hole.
