An enjoyable camp on the lake offers lots of activities and is perfect for families. Really good swimming, access to Selkirk State Park makes for excellent trail running and biking, and fires on the beach at the end of the day all make this camp a great place to stay.
The camp and the outdoor areas were great! The sunsets were unreal.
We were surprised that we had to climb over boulders to get to the water, but everything else was so awesome it made up for it.
We LOVED camp and wish we were still there!!!

Thanks for staying at our lake house. Sorry about the “boulders,” actually what we call riprap, these giant rocks are to protect the shoreline and, as you saw, it is the norm for cottages along the lake.
We are glad you had a great week and hope you return!

Incredibly helpful owners!
Bob and Janet could not do enough to help, and were available from start to finish. Since they were only four miles away, they were able to help us whenever we needed them. They really gave us the full run of the place-- from boats to bicycles, everything was ours for the week. Lots of books, movies, and a well stocked house.
We thoroughly enjoyed the lake every day. Our kids loved swimming, and the older members of our party loved kayaking and fishing in the rowboat. We even picked cherries at a nearby farm!

One of our best vacations ever!
Beautiful view of the lake! Perfect location. Bob and Janet were very nice and great to deal with. The house is well keep and has everything needed for cooking, sleeping, and enjoying the waterfront! The garden had herbs to cook with. We also loved cooking steaks on that heavy outdoor wood grill. Plenty of room and space for everyone to hang out together and enough privacy to have your own space. Bob even helped us bring up all our stuff when we arrived. Very appreciated. The waves were great for kayak surfing a couple days. Weather was great, sunny and in the 70's. Highly recommend staying here, just please don't reserve my week! Looking forward to getting back this fall.
We were very disappointed with the condition of the house and decks but mostly the owners. While the house was generally clean, there were cobwebs and dust throughout. There were ants and bugs everywhere. When we told the owners about the huge black ants we had to kill in the dining and living room he said that happens. Some of the screens were broken or didn’t fully close so the bugs would come in at night covering the sinks in the morning. There were some type of animals or bugs in the ceiling above the bed in the large room that made so much noise that my daughter had to move. The propane grill was dirty with grease and charred food and the starter didn’t work. Outside, the paint on the decks was peeling and there was dry root in front of the kitchen door that was cover with a mat. The bath towels and pot/pans were old. There were broken tiles in the kitchen and bath. We would have ignored all of this because of the beautiful views of the lake but the owners accused us of leaving the house filthy which was a lie and kept our security deposit. They were very rude and invasive. The day before we were coming, they told us that they had cameras and that they could hear our conversations if we were near the garage. These cameras were never mentioned in the description and we only found out about them well after we booked the rental. After our experience, I wouldn’t recommend this vacation rental to anyone.

This party left a positive review in our guest book and then made up complaints to post here after we immediately notified them of all the messes and damage we found and that we intend to withhold their security deposit as a result. They found the place spotless and were apparently very careless during the two weeks they stayed. The grill was just cleaned and prior to their arrival. A few cracks in the kitchen tile & some peeling paint on one deck could in no way have impacted their stay. They left spills in cupboards, lollipop sticks stuck to chairs, broke a table, dented a pot, damage to our Stickley table and a chair, threw away all the condiments we stock for guests, threw away our cleaning towels that we keep in a separate area, rearranged all the furniture and left dirt and grime on every surface. Toilet had pee all over it, microwave had bacon grease all over the inside. Over a 2 week stay at a camp surrounded by wildlife you will see some bugs, spider webs & maybe a squirrel on the roof. In 13 years renting we have never had a bad review or had the place treated with such disrespect. Who spills salt all over the spice cabinet, powdered coffee mate in another cupboard and coffee on the carpet & doesn’t clean it up? Wax on the carpet, some kind of oily liquid on kitchen floor, greasy handprints on windows and glass coffee table. We even gave them access to the inside of our garage to charge their vehicle, of course I told them about the security camera down there.
We had a wonderful week at this location. We were fortunate to have a sandy beach- the neighbors explained that due to fluctuating water levels, this only happens every few years. The sunsets were fantastic. The kids loved having their own spacious room. We really appreciated the Wi-Fi and washer/dryer!
The swimming and kayaking were amazing on the waves. Beautiful sunsets and sightings of various birds, including hummingbirds and a bald eagle. Can’t wait to return next summer!
Bob and Janet provide the quintessential lake house experience - from the rustic deck overlooking the water to the wood-paneled interior decorated with local memorabilia, art and a giant salmon above the fireplace! The house was well stocked with all the necessities and was very comfortable for our family vacation. Highly recommended!
Beautiful place! The house and how many beds it come with is amazing! Lots of room where you are not on top of people and the decks are an amazing place to hangout and relax! We had an amazing time and would def. rent again.
We've stayed at a number of camps on Lake Ontario over the years, this was the best. great combination of rustic and comfortable, also plenty of rooms and decks. Great view of the lake.
If you want relaxation with a view that is second to none I highly recommend this property! Owners make you feel welcome from the start and provide everything but the food and wine.
This was our first visit, we are making plans to return next year.
Wonderful gathering place. This cottage is lovely and Bob & Janet are generous, thoughtful hosts. Everything is really week organized so that your stay is effortless. The location is a hidden gem close to biking, hiking, river kayaking and is right on the water. We swam every day. Every sunset was breathtaking and each day of our stay brought us a new adventure. We loved the two decks at different levels overlooking Lake Ontario.... one in the sun and one in the shade. The sun room has a full view of the lake as well. The cottage is tastefully decorated yet maintains a true cottage feel. Selkirk state park is minutes down the road. We loved hiking and biking on the well marked paths. Bob and Janet also included use of their kayaks. Our family kayaked the beautiful salmon river which is accessible from just behind their property. We visited the nearby flee market, the farmers market and had a great breakfast in the local town of Pulaski. We highly recommend this beautiful property!

Great house with fabulous lake views
We have a yearly family reunion vacation and this was the best ever. The house is very comfortable and extremely well equipped. Beds are comfortable and linens are provided along with a great variety of towels. The kitchen has everything you could want. My son cooked meals every night and had all the tools, pans and gadgets he needed. We really appreciated the spices and condiments plus having adequate dishes and silverware for all. The highlight of the house is the lake. The views from the house and decks are amazing, including sunsets right over the water. We swam almost every day. Be sure to bring water shoes since the beach and water entry are rocky. Sand starts farther out, but the entry is gradual and even my 3 year old granddaughter could stand comfortably. The only glitch to the house is the bathroom layout, making it necessary to go outside to get to the second bathroom if the larger one is occupied. We made it work and having only once shower really was not an issue, especially since we were swimming so much. We loved the house and were sorry when our week came to an end. Thanks Bob and Janet!

Exceptional Visit!
As repeat guests at this lake house location, we are again exceptionally happy and impressed with our stay. Cannot think of another place to spend our time while in the Lake Ontario region. The owners are a delight to work with and are genuinely concerned about the comfort of your stay. The house is clean, warm and cozy and not to mention the awesome view of Lake Ontario from the decks. Just a very special place to visit. :)

Lakeside perfection
We had a wonderful week here. I wanted my kids to experience some time on the Great Lakes like I did as a kid, and this was just right.
The house is open and airy with tons of windows and a sunny enclosed porch, two levels of decks to sit on, plus a shady patio and grill area. Those who wanted sun or shade, breeze or not, could all find the perfect spot for themselves. There was always a nice breeze, and the sound of the waves was a constant backdrop to the day.
The owners have stocked the house nicely with books, games, movies, etc., and have also though of useful little things like phone charging cords, sunscreen and bug spray, etc. We cooked every meal for a week between the kitchen and the grill - it's one of the nicest rental kitchens I've ever used as far as equipment and space. We also appreciated having the use of linens and towels - so much nicer than hauling our own back and forth!
There are kayaks and a canoe available to use, and a choice between the big lake and a mellow river. We didn't end up fishing, but it's clearly a big part of the local scene.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time here, and will likely try to return again. It was a fantastic spot for our family!

About the host
Hosted by Bob Marino & Janet Gramza
Janet and I bought this property as a place to enjoy with family and friends and to share as a rental to help pay for it. We have been on the renter side of vacation homes for many years and use that experience to ensure our guests have everything they need for an awesome stay and will want to come back year after year.
Why they chose this property
Lake Ontario is a beautiful body of water -- it's been called "Cape Cod without the salt" and "Cape Cod without the sharks." It's not easily accessible to the general public, so the perfect rental is the way to go for private lakefront and a true beach getaway. As soon as you arrive, you immediately feel you are on vacation.
What makes this property unique
BEACH FRONT: Right on the beach, sometimes sandy, sometimes rocky, but there is always a sandy spot nearby to set up your chairs. The Lake bottom is always sandy and gently sloping, a perfect area for kids. There are sandbars and bigger kids can walk well out before the water is overhead.
BEDROOMS: There is a queen in the master, a double in the second bedroom and a bunk room with a pair of bunk beds, a double and a queen with plenty of room to spare! All the bedrooms have water views. There is also a single bedroom and bath on the ground floor that's perfect for an elder who doesn't do stairs.
LIVING AREAS: Open floor plan, spacious kitchen stocked with everything you need except food. We try to keep a decent supply of condiments & spices. There is a Tops supermarket about 5 miles away. Sofas, chairs and a very large dining room table. Propane wood stove, and a beautiful enclosed sun porch, airtight, for windy or cool days so you can still enjoy incredible views of the lake or open all the windows on warm days to let in the breeze. Broadband wireless Internet, Stereo, CD, MP3 player, flat screen smart TV with Netflix, VCR/DVD player and a supply of movies.
OUTSIDE: Lots of places to hang out when you are not on the beach! 2-tiered deck with the lower deck right on the water. Several Adirondack chairs for lounging with family & friends. Picnic table that seats 8. Big brick patio and grill area with a propane gas grill.
