About Susan Janz

Took on a very distressed lakefront property and made it into what you see today. HOPE YOU ENJOY IT!!!

Susan Janz purchased this cottage in 2008

Why Susan Janz chose Gleason

My family and I have stayed in this area for vacations and fell in love with the area. We have done different projects over the years, and when this became available, we loved the lot so close to the water, we thought 'why not'. It has been lots of fun and close to home, therefore, fast and easy to get to.

What makes this cottage unique

I love to sit and look out the window early in the morning. I've seen fish jumping to fox running across the frozen lake, and bald eagles flying over head. My all time favorite is fishing. I've caught fish and I haven't, but I've never had a bad day.

Great Vacation

  • 4 of 5

We had a lovely stay at your place. Loved the fishing, swimming, campfires, boating and just being together. I've already recommended your place to two more people. Thank you.

Peace and quiet!

  • 5 of 5

We had a quiet, peaceful stay at the cabin. It's located at the end of Long Lake, so there is not much boat traffic. We brought our kayaks, which we used every day. The quality of the water is very good, it does have tannin in it, but you could still see down a little ways. We had fun watching the little bluegills next to the pier.

The square feet of the cabin is small, but it seems very spacious. It's well-appointed with dishes, etc. We used the grill a few times. As someone else mentioned, it would be nice to have wifi at the cabin. Our Verizon and AT&T plans had service, but my portable wifi device that uses Sprint did not. I realize we didn't come to the cabin for wifi, but it's nice to check emails, etc. at night.

For some groceries, we went to the Mennonite store in Gleason. It's well-appointed. Adult beverages can be purchased at the gas station. We purchased firewood from the Mennonite place between Gleason and the cabin.

We enjoyed our stay very much and recommend staying here.

Nice litte house

  • 5 of 5

Husband and I wanted a relaxing week away to recharge. This is definitely a good spot to do this. The lake is very peaceful and quiet. Was expecting to see more birds- eagles especially, but did see a few loons. Husband caught a bass and some Blue gill, which we grilled up.

Only disappointment is the lack of Wi-Fi/ internet. We had very poor reception on our phones. Now, granted, some would say that this is truly getting away- and it was fine, but I do like to stay connected with what is going on in the world. That being said, it did give us time to play games together and just relax.

We both brought our kayaks along, and enjoyed tooting around the lake exploring.

Maybe have a kayak available? Would be nice to not have to bring along.

Overall- great place- VERY CLEAN, nice open space. Comfortable.

Thank you, Susan!

Owner's Response: I understand the lack of Wi-Fi is frustrating at times, but also assists with feeling more relaxed by the time you leave. They've added more towers in the area so carriers have no problem with reception. I'm sorry that was an issue for you. I will consider kayaks. Thanks for the suggestion! Thank you for choosing my place!

Thank you so much for letting us rent your cabin. We were up in Gleason for a family reunion. Your cabin was the perfect space for a group gathering. The kitchen was well stocked with all we needed. Thank you and we look forward to rebooking next summer.

Relaxing vacation spot

  • 5 of 5

Very clean and with every amenity you might need. The leaves were just beginning to change, making for some beautiful views from the Adirondack chairs. Unfortunately, the fishing was not great, but there had been several cold snaps before we got there, so we expected it. Did see lots of wildlife in the area; this lake home is very secluded and private. We enjoyed our downtime and relaxation - perfect opportunity to recharge and a perfect place to do that!
