Sugarloaf Area Cabin in Stratton, Clean, Peaceful, near Carrabassett Valley
Our clean and rustic home is at the base of Cranberry Peak of the Bigelow Range. We are 6.8 miles from Sugarloaf, an all-season resort, not only known for great skiing, but for its incredibly beautiful golf course and other outdoor activities.
RATES: Our home is open to guests in the Spring (April 25 - May 22) at the exceptional rate of $85 per night; Summer/ Fall (May 23 - December 6) at $150 night; and Winter (December 7 - 31 ) and at select times during winter months of 2027 - see calendar) at $250 night.
We are on a quaint, dead end road directly off Rt. 27, the main road to Sugarloaf. Our home is sunny, has a small brook in the back (more visible in early spring and late fall), is surrounded by fir trees, is peaceful and quiet, and is often visited by deer.
SPRING, SUMMER, and FALL are great times to stay!! 4 night minimum required. 10% discount for 7 or more nights (see dates for rates). If you are a hunter or like to fish, Stratton, Maine is the place to come for deer, moose, turkeys, or birds. You can leave right from our backyard, and wander through the woods or on the many trail systems. Local folks can clue you in to all the great fishing holes!!! Bikers and hikers can access trails right in Stratton, or enjoy Sugarloaf Mountain trails, trails on the Bigelow Range, the Narrow Gauge pathway in Carrabassett Valley, or the Maine Huts and Trails. Flagstaff Lake is right down the road, surrounded by large red pines...you can kayak, swim, or fish!! On the other side of the lake is the great Maine Huts and Trails, where you can hike from hut to hut (trail open but huts are now closed). Rangeley is only 30 minutes away where you'll find more swimming options, activities, and restaurants. And, if you just like a quiet and peaceful get-away, our cabin would be ideal for you!
WINTER rental is new this year...select dates available! If you are a downhill skier or snowboarder, like to cross country ski; snowmobile; skate, or snowshoe, you'll love this location!! You can be at Sugarloaf to ski in 10 minutes...or simply walk out the door to snowshoe! Winter rentals require 7 night minimum stay (March 16- March 20, 2026 is a 5 night stay).
If you would like to visit Canada, and want to include additional travel in your stay, the Canadian border is about 1/2 hour away, and Quebec City is 3 hours away. Other 3 hour destinations include the many scenic towns of the Maine coast, including Bar Harbor, and destinations in the state of New Hampshire, such as Mt. Washington.
More Information: Coplin Dinner House is within walking distance of our home - 3/8 of a mile away . Great gourmet food, or sandwiches at the bar. Hours vary in the summer. And, for a very small town area, there are several estaurants (depending on time of year) within 10 miles....with varying open hours during different seasons. Full grocery store 1 mile away.
Sharing Our Home: We use our home on a regular basis and hope you will enjoy it as much as we do!! It is not a 4 star hotel, but it is as clean as you will find, simple, peaceful, and pleasantly decorated. Our rustic furnishings, pine interior, sunny porch, abundant windows, and beautiful surroundings will all help you to relax in this great Maine vacation area! Our 'electric' fireplace adds ambience and warmth of a fire! We look for renters who will respect and truly enjoy the property.
There are 3 cozy bedrooms with 1 queen and 2 full beds. We limit number of guests to 4 people.
We provide all furnishings and everything you need for meal preparation. For bedding we provide blankets and pillows. You will need to bring sheets (2 full beds, 1 queen) and towels for Spring, Summer and Fall rentals (Winter rentals include sheets and towels). We keep condiments, sugar, trash bags, tinfoil, saran wrap, etc., dish detergent for your use.
Our home is beautiful and clean and peaceful, and less costly than many other stand alone homes - we keep our prices reasonable because we don't have the amenities that expensive sites would have - we have high speed internet but don't have cable or satellite tv. We do not have a washer and dryer available (laundromat is a 3 minute drive). We hope that it is helpful for you not to pay a security deposit or cleaning fee, and just ask that you leave the home as you found it. We , the owners clean and maintain, and we can keep our rates low with your help! Thank you.
Because we are close to preserved land, outdoor fires are not permitted.
CLEANING: Long before Covid, we prided ourselves in cleanliness. We ask guests to leave the home clean, and in addition, we have always done deep cleaning between guests. Blankets are washed, clean pillowcase covers are used, the bathroom is sanitized, fixtures are sanitized, all surfaces are cleaned, the stove and refrigerator are cleaned, floors are washed. You will find our home to be very clean!

We had such a comfortable stay at this cabin. The host was quick to respond to any of my questions. The cabin is centrally located to Stratton and Eustis with a nice drive over to Rangley. Just bring bedsheets and bath towels and everything else you need is available.
This is our 3rd or 4th time staying at this rental for our deer hunting trip. This home is cozy, warm, comfortable, convenient to hunting and Sue is a perfect owner.
We had a great stay at this cabin, we were a group of 3 each with our own bedroom. I recommend this VRBO and look forward to staying again when in the area. The cabin was very clean, easy check in and well equipped. We paddled Flagstaff lake, North branch of the Dead River, and Pierce Ponds.
Our stay was absolutely perfect!! We were there to deer hunt and couldn’t have asked for a better place. We felt right at home and comfortable. Hoping to rent next year too!!
Great cozy cabin, lacking for nothing in any amenities. Quiet location, close to many attractions and hiking trails. A pleasure to come back to and relax after a long day of hiking. The hosts were very friendly and easy to communicate with. If in the area, I would highly recommend staying here.
The cabin was just as described. I loved that many things were labeled, including the light switches. The screened in porch was an amazingly comfortable and peaceful place to enjoy reading or listening to the birds. It was the perfect base location for hiking, swimming, kayaking, and there are so many great nearby eateries.
This is our second time staying at Susan’s cottage in Eustis. We loved the location, down a dirt road surrounded by trees and a bubbling brook with wild turkeys and deer. The house is comfortable, feels like home with a wonderful porch to spend the afternoon reading. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen was well appointed.we went to rangely to swim and have lunch and ice cream.
We loved this cabin in the Maine woods. Clean, comfortable and in a gorgeous area. Everything was perfect. The cabin is cozy and has everything you need We spent much of our downtime on the screen porch. Did some kayaking and fishing and swimming. We had a lovely dinner at the Coplin dinner house. It was right down the road. Wonderful fine dining. Thank you for sharing your gem.
This is our second time in this rental. We use it as our “hunting camp” and just love it. Convenient to where we hunt. Very warm and cozy. Hope to rent again next year!!
Four day getaway to where the weather was cooler and less humid. This is the third time we've stayed here and it's always a joy. It's clean, quiet, and comfortable. We spent the most time on the screened in porch reading when we weren't out hiking and exploring. There's several very good restaurant nearby, we didn't bother cooking at the camp. I hope we get to come back next year!
We love this house!! It has everything you need. House is comfortable and very clean. The beds are super comfortable, the bathroom is clean, shower has plenty of hot water. We spend lots of time on the porch making art and quilting and taking naps on the day bed. It is quiet and natural beauty surrounds you. Take a look at the night stars! You’ve never seen the Milky Way like that. The kitchen is well appointed and there is plenty of water waiting for you when you arrive. Couldn’t be happier! This is our third year. Hiking trails everywhere. Rangely for a day trip, Quill hill… spectacular! We can’t wait till next year! Thank you Susan
Real nice cottage, had everything you need, gorgeous inside, not much to dislike, was no stream on property as mentioned, just a ditch w a little water a crayfish could live in,no trails right there,in a neighborhood w more houses than expected, one bed very hard@ squeaky and bathroom floor even squeakier,,but will stay again, can't go wrong with price 4 a place like this and no added fees like alot of people deceive u with, definitely would recommend.!!!!!!

Thanks for the review. And you are correct....our bathroom floor is annoyingly squeaky. The full bed you chose is the firmest..the queen is much more comfortable. And there truly is a babbling brook within 75 feet behind the house, but this year’s drought has dried it up...it is even named ‘No Name Brook!” Trails are through the woods, or a 1/2 mile by car that circles back behind the property. Enjoy your other travels and hope to see you again!

We live in Windham, Maine, near Sebago Lake, and go to our home near Sugarloaf often. My husband is a ski coach on the mountain, and We ski together as often as we can.
Why they chose this property
We chose this property as a second home so that we could enjoy skiing all winter, and the many outdoor activities the area has to offer in the Spring, Summer and Fall. My husband has been a 'Sugarloafer' for almost 50 years, so we wanted to be close to the mountain.
What makes this property unique
The location of our home is just beautiful...lupines on the road in the early summer, beautiful foliage in the fall, and wildlife who come and go depending on the season. It is located on a very small dead-end road, with a couple of year-round and several seasonal neighbors. We are surrounded by hills, fir trees, and wildlife. It's peaceful, relaxing, and a great get-a-way! I love sitting on the porch on a breezy summer morning, sipping coffee, and listening to birds You can feel yourself unwind as you travel down the road. We chose this home because it is small and perfect for two, but with 3 bedrooms, plenty big for visitors. It is cozy, rustically decorated, fairly new, and very clean. Our grandchildren have spent many vacations here during different seasons, and if you have children and like being outdoors, this property is ideal.
