Thank you for your review! Would love to have a message from you on what we could’ve done to earn the 5th star on our review! We strive to create a fun environment and always seek to improve!
Hosts were Amazing w/ communication!! Very accommodating and responsive!! Super cute decor, cozy yet spacious. Comfy bed, smallish bathroom, but adequate, exactly what you would expect in older building. All the amenities we needed w/ exception of a coffee pot, but good coffee avail across the street. Door in bedroom separates adjoining apartment and occasionally could hear neighbor, but honestly not a big issue. Would definitely stay here again!!
Pros: Good Location, decent furniture, great WiFi, nice tv, very cleanCons: This place is a dump with some lipstick on it. I’m not sure it’s actually structurally sound. The floor is incredibly un level. The AC can barely keep up. There is no kitchen or sink other than the bathroom sink. There are giant padlocks everywhere. You’ll feel like you’re in an institution. They couldn’t have fixed it up any more cheaply than they did. The road noise is exhausting. We’re at a different VRBO in Louisville now. I wish we had stayed here the whole time. We were so exhausted, we checked in here early and immediately napped.

We’re sorry to hear that our place didn’t meet your expectations, though we’re a bit taken aback by the exaggeration in your review.
Our listing is clear about what’s offered: a compact, minimalist space with basic amenities, perfect for short stays. That is, if you actually read the description or looked through the photos. There is no kitchen advertised, and everything from the layout to the sink setup is plainly shown.
As for the padlocks, they’re small utility locks used on storage or maintenance closets, nothing more. Calling them “giant” or comparing the space to an institution feels intentionally misleading and unfair.
The A/C is routinely checked and has kept the space comfortable for the vast majority of guests, even in Kentucky summers. We would also like to note that you never reached out during your stay or responded to our check-in messages. Had we been made aware of any issues, we absolutely would have addressed them promptly.
Regarding your comment about the building not being structurally sound, we feel it’s important to point out that such a claim is both unfounded and irresponsible. Unless you're a licensed structural engineer, that's not something guests are in a position to assess. The building is an 1870s structure, clearly stated in the listing. Bardstown is a historic small town, and we’ve chosen to preserve and respect the charm and character of its age rather than strip it away. We are experienced in real estate and construction. If there were ever a concern about safety, we would never list or rent the space. Period.
This place is a budget-friendly option, usually listed for under $100 a night. It’s designed for simple, no-frills stays, not a luxury hotel experience. Based on the tone of your review, it seems you may have expected a 5-star resort at a fraction of the cost. A quick look at our many positive reviews across platforms makes it clear. The space is not the problem.
Road noise can be subjective, but again, that’s something many guests have not found to be a major issue.
While we understand not every guest will love a budget stay, misrepresenting the facts doesn’t make your expectations more reasonable.
