Welcome to our light-filled family retreat in the hills of Tierrasanta, where sweeping canyon and valley views meet a big grassy backyard, a bubbling hot tub, and a fully equipped kitchen. It's the kind of easygoing, comfortable home families come back to year after year, just 10 minutes from the San Diego Zoo, Balboa Park, and the heart of the city.

Spread out in two living areas, gather around the dining table, fire up the BBQ, and end the day soaking in the hot tub as the sun goes down. Every bedroom is fresh and restful, the primary suite opens right onto a private view balcony, and there's room for the whole crew to relax.

How this home sleeps: our standard rate comfortably hosts 6 guests. Need a little more room? You can add up to 4 additional guests (10 total) for a small nightly fee per extra guest. The primary bedroom has a California King Sleep Number, and the two guest bedrooms each have a queen. For extra guests we provide two queen air mattresses and a love seat that converts to an oversized twin, with fresh sheets, extra comforters, and pillows waiting in the closets.

The kitchen is ready for real cooking, with double ovens, a gas cooktop, refrigerator, microwave, and dishwasher, plus a blender, waffle maker, tea kettle, Keurig, SodaStream, Crockpot, Instant Pot, Cuisinart mixer, toaster, and toaster oven. A washer and dryer are in the garage. Every detail is considered, with supplied linens, hairdryers, iron and ironing board, and soaps, shampoo, and body wash. There's a TV in each bedroom and both living spaces, plus a collection of board games, puzzles, and cards. Traveling with little ones? We have a Guava pack-and-play, a HelloBaby monitor, and a stroller for days at SeaWorld or the Zoo.

The dining area seats six at the main table, with a smaller table that adds a couple more seats and doubles as a spot for games and puzzles.

The backyard view is the thing every guest talks about. Sip your coffee, tea, or wine on the swing, stretch out in one of the oversized hammocks, or settle onto the outdoor couch in the shade under the balcony, gathered around a propane firepit for cool evenings. The hot tub and BBQ round it out. A citrus tree gives about three good seasons of oranges, two avocado trees reward the lucky guest who visits when they're ripe, and the yellow plumeria is gorgeous in bloom among the drought-resistant plantings.

Everything's close. Less than 20 minutes away: Mission Trails, SeaWorld, Balboa Park, the beaches at Mission, Pacific, and La Jolla, the Gaslamp Quarter, San Diego Zoo, Old Town, Petco Park, the San Diego Missions, USS Midway, Birch Aquarium, Liberty Station, and downtown, plus nearby hiking and mountain biking trails for the nature lovers. Another 30 to 50 minutes out you'll find Legoland, Coronado Island, the Safari Park, San Diego Botanic Garden, the Carlsbad Flower Fields, Barona Cultural Center and Museum, Old Poway Park, and golf at Torrey Pines.
