This was a great house, with a very responsive owner, for our women friends trip to Mount Desert Island and Acadia National Park. It was conveniently located to everything in the town of Bar Harbor. 4 nights is not enough; stay longer if you can; so much to see and do.
This house was perfect for our family of 5. Lots of space and very well stocked. Location was perfect. Large grocery store practically across the street and an adorable and tasty pub across the driveway. Quick nice walk to shops and restaurants and close to the park entrance. Owner was AMAZING at communicating which was a super nice bonus. I would absolutely stay here again.
Great place to stay - location was perfect for visiting Acadia and Bar Harbor! House was comfortable and well stocked. Our family of 5 had plenty of space.
The location was perfect, walking distance to everything we needed. The hosts were accommodating and helpful, ensuring we had everything we needed for our elderly mother who was traveling with us. The house was well equipped and comfortable. Highly recommend!
First time to Bar Harbor and so glad we found this place. Located on a quiet street, yet we were a 5 minute walk to everything. House was clean and comfortable. Ownerâs communication was excellent. Would stay here again.
We were very pleased with the house. There was plenty of space and the house was well stocked. The location was close to everything- shops, restaurants, the shoreline and a grocery store. We would stay there again.
This home was everything that we wanted for our Maine visit. The house was clean, comfortable and had all the amenities needed. It was perfectly located to walk to local sites, restaurants and shopping. Easy access to Acadia National Park as well. Kim was great to work with and we highly recommended their home for your Bar Harbor visit. We will be back!
Property is just blocks from Main Street. Itâs an easy walk to the water, shops and food. House fit our party of seven just fine. Every thing you might need is there, although we primarily were gone during the day and didnât want to cook.
Family of 6 had a great time inBar Harbor at the house. House is in easy walking distance to all the restaurants in town plus grocery store very close by. Multiple living areas in the house to relax in. Enjoy use of sauna and foosball table.
The property needs maintenance and TLC. Cobwebs on the stairwell and corners, filthy carpeting. Stairwell is very rickety and unstable for older adults. Could not reach the host for 2 days when they inadvertently reset the door code, and we had to leave property unsecured. The layout is a maze.Good locationComfy bedsNice sauna
This was our first visit to Bar harbor and Acadia National Park. The house was perfect for our family. It was so convenient and we could walk everywhere. It was so clean and very well stocked. We had everything we needed and then some. The host was so accommodating because we had to come a day late due to a hurricane in Florida. We will definitely be back.
The house exceeded our expectations. Very clean, well appointed with many comforts of home. Communication with owner was excellent. Location is the best- just far enough from the center of town to be quiet but a quick 5 minute walk away. Would highly recommend this property.
Bill and Kim Wieler are from Cheshire, CT. We carry on the tradition in the spirit and memory of our dear friends Carrie and Tom Witt by offering a place to stay for others to experience and enjoy Mount Desert Island, Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. We hope that you too by your visit to Bar Harbor and stay at Bar Harbor Cottage develop a deep appreciation and love for Bar Harbor and Acadia ~ one of the worldâs most beautiful places. (photo left to right: Tom & Carrie Witt; Kim & Bill Wieler)
The story begins with Tom & Carrie Witt, from Hamden, CT. Carrie and Tom both fell in love with Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park on their honeymoon in October 1995. They came back every year and purchased the cottage in 2004. Over the years, when the cottage wasnât being rented by visitors Carrie and Tom shared their home, love, knowledge, and stories of Acadia with family and friends. It was during one of these visits that Carrie and Tom first introduced friends, Kim & Bill Wieler to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. Much time was spent outdoors biking, hiking, cross country skiing and snowshoeing in and around the park, crossing the sand bar at low tide to reach Bar Island to enjoy the fields of lupine on their way to the top to view the harbor or by exploring downtown Bar Harbor and surrounding areas. Kim and Bill have been coming back ever since. Sadly, Tom passed away in 2010 and then Carrie in 2012. Their love for Asygarth Cottage and Acadia never diminished. They both found joy, peace, strength, and endless courage in the quiet trails and majestic vistas of Acadia. Kim and Bill will be forever grateful for their friendship and hospitality and now would like to welcome you to Bar Harbor Cottage.
