Lynchets is in a small village called Betchworth, which is about 25 miles from central London. It is set on a hill with extensive views over southern England.
There are many fantastic golf courses within easy reach, and the local town of Dorking is known for its collection of antique shops.
There are plenty of walks and hikes right from the bottom of the driveway, and Lynchets sits on the path of the original “Pilgrims Way”. and the North Downs way.

Surprise birthday get-away for my wifes significant birthday
Three generations of our family were able to enjoy the facilities of this property. The house certainly has the 'wow factor' and the pool was the icing on the cake. There are plenty of interesting towns and sights nearby and the views across The Weald from the picture windows are stunning.
I’m so glad the cottage worked out for you, thank you for taking the time to write such a lovely review.
Wonderful Christmas in a beautiful setting!
We spent the most wonderful Christmas in a truly beautiful setting. The house is spacious, comfortable, and the views from nearly every room are spectacular.
Fantastic walks on the doorstep, and Dorking and Reigate close by, with a good range of shops and restaurants. Also some very good local pubs and eateries.
We saw deer in the garden every morning, and we woke up to snow on our last morning, which just added to the magic. The heated pool was an added bonus, and not a bad size if you are a keen swimmer! We had a couple of queries, but the owners were quick to respond and very helpful. The provision of a beautiful Christmas tree was also much appreciated. Thank you so much for allowing us to stay in your lovely home.
Wow thank you so much for looking after this funny cottage of ours it is our home away from home and it’s such a great feeling to know others enjoy it too.
Many thanks for looking after the cottage.
Beautiful cottage with spectacular views.
Arrived on the 7th of November 2017, everyone loved the property as soon as they saw it. It is perfectly located onto of a hill with an amazing back garden. We had a chance to speak to the the neighbours, who were lovely.
I managed to speak to the owners before booking, who are extremely pleasant and helpful.
Overall, really pretty and peaceful place to go and stay with family and friends.
Luxury and Comfortable!
I stayed in Thatch Cottage in October 2017 with family and friends.
We enjoyed the well maintained warm swimming pool with impressive sound system, and the villa with fabulous view from top of the the hill towards the south east of Surrey from one side, while the other side of the villa was still towards uphills.
The location of the villa is fantastic, the inside was clean and tidy with plenty of household and kitchen staff that we hardly found it necessary to go shopping!
I definitely recommend and will consider getting back in future.
Thank you so much for looking after the cottage. We enjoyed having you stay and wil look forward to your next stay.
Magical family get-together
Three generations spent a delightful weekend celebrating my big birthday. The property was ideal, with the indoor pool being the star attraction for the grandchildren. The views across the countryside were the memorable feature for the grown-ups, along with the beautifully appointed rooms, which managed to feel luxurious and homely at the same time. Another plus was that the village has a choice of pubs serving high-quality lunches, and the final bonus was that the weather forecast (lots of rain) turned out to be wrong. All of us (age range: one-and-a-half to 70) had a wonderful time.
Beautiful House in Great Location
When you turn into the drive, you are bound to say 'wow'. It is a really pretty house with stunning views over the Surrey Hills. The village of Betchworth is very pretty with two good, traditional pubs (30 minutes' walk) and there is a good walk from The Coombe up the North Downs Way to the viewing point at Box Hill, from where there are several other walks (leaflets from the information stand and cafe at Box Hill). Polesden Lacey (National Trust house) and Denbies Vineyard are also close and well worth visiting.
The house itself has four comfortable bedrooms and three good bath/shower rooms, and and an open-plan kitchen, dining, lounge. The pool, in a separate pool-house, is a great bonus to the property.
The only downside for us (hence 4 stars) was the bedroom in the pool-house. It is functional and has its own toilet and shower, but is uncarpeted and rather sparse, and could do with some homely touches to make it more appealing.
Apart from that, the house is beautiful and we had a great holiday.
Amazing Hiking right on Old Pilgrims Way, the property was once owned by the artist John Piper and his studio is still located behind the house with views for miles; The house faces southward and on a clear day you can see the ocean from the studio.
