About the property

House, 4 Bedrooms + 4 Baths, (Sleeps 8)

Lynchets is in a small village called Betchworth, which is about 25 miles from central London. It is set on a hill with extensive views over southern England.

There are many fantastic golf courses within easy reach, and the local town of Dorking is known for its collection of antique shops.

There are plenty of walks and hikes right from the bottom of the driveway, and Lynchets sits on the path of the original “Pilgrims Way”. and the North Downs way.

Beautiful property! Couldn't have asked for a better place to stay.

  • 5 of 5

The house and grounds were unbelievable. No matter where you stand on the property there is an amazing view of Betchworth and Reigate. The house is under a half mile walk from the Betchworth train station which provides easy access to Reigate center (shopping, delicious pubs, grocery stores) and Gatwick Airport. Prior to the trip the owners provided a detailed description of everything we could need to know about their home, it was beyond helpful. They were also responsive to questions both before and during our stay.

My friends and I were traveling for a wedding and an majority of our time was consumed with festivities. We hope to return to have the opportunity to truly enjoy all the property and area has to offer!

Beautiful House in Great Location

  • 4 of 5

When you turn into the drive, you are bound to say 'wow'. It is a really pretty house with stunning views over the Surrey Hills. The village of Betchworth is very pretty with two good, traditional pubs (30 minutes' walk) and there is a good walk from The Coombe up the North Downs Way to the viewing point at Box Hill, from where there are several other walks (leaflets from the information stand and cafe at Box Hill). Polesden Lacey (National Trust house) and Denbies Vineyard are also close and well worth visiting.

The house itself has four comfortable bedrooms and three good bath/shower rooms, and and an open-plan kitchen, dining, lounge. The pool, in a separate pool-house, is a great bonus to the property.

The only downside for us (hence 4 stars) was the bedroom in the pool-house. It is functional and has its own toilet and shower, but is uncarpeted and rather sparse, and could do with some homely touches to make it more appealing.

Apart from that, the house is beautiful and we had a great holiday.

Magical family get-together

  • 5 of 5

Three generations spent a delightful weekend celebrating my big birthday. The property was ideal, with the indoor pool being the star attraction for the grandchildren. The views across the countryside were the memorable feature for the grown-ups, along with the beautifully appointed rooms, which managed to feel luxurious and homely at the same time. Another plus was that the village has a choice of pubs serving high-quality lunches, and the final bonus was that the weather forecast (lots of rain) turned out to be wrong. All of us (age range: one-and-a-half to 70) had a wonderful time.

Relax in a wonderful setting

  • 5 of 5

A totally idyllic setting for a wonderfully relaxing time with old friends. Along with the stunning setting the house lacks for nothing. Spacious bedrooms and dining room/kitchen area. The host are very responsive and got back to us very promptly with the few queries we had. The pool house and patio with BBQ is the star of the show and on a summers day/evening you will spend all your time there. The gardens and view are also stunning

Fantastic Family Holiday.....

  • 5 of 5

Our 2 families totalling 8 had a fantastic stay on our holiday at the cottage last week. It was spacious, the rooms were comfortable and all the necessary amenities were provided. The highlight of the week was the Pool which the children loved and we spent a lot of time using.

The towns of Dorking and Reigate provided ideal shopping opportunities while catching the train from Dorking, we were in London within an hour to take in the sights and sounds of the city.

The views from the cottage out over the Mole Valley are fabulous and provide a relaxing backdrop for any holiday.

Highly recommended.

Thank you from the Smith's and Tomlinson's

Amazing Hiking right on Old Pilgrims Way, the property was once owned by the artist John Piper and his studio is still located behind the house with views for miles; The house faces southward and on a clear day you can see the ocean from the studio.
