Thank you for your feedback. We are pleased you had a good experience, but we’re surprised by the 4-star rating, as we fully accommodated all of your needs. We aim for excellence and would appreciate any specific feedback on how we can improve.
We had a wonderful Christmas stay with our family in this charming Victorian home! We have always been fascinated with these kinds of homes, and this one did not disappoint! Everything about the place was as described. The host was extremely accommodating and quick to respond to a couple of questions we had. The house was even roomier than we thought it would be. We especially enjoyed watching the river traffic from the dining rooms and the deck. We highly recommend this place and would stay here again!

We’d love to have you back anytime—whether for a quick getaway or just to relax. We hope to see you again soon!
The house is huge! There was so much room for our family to spread out. There were several tables that we could all have dinner together, including out on the deck. The view of the river was nice and we saw hawks overhead.

Thank you for your stay! I am gladf you enjoyed it, and hope you will be back again!
The property was "as advertised" but really the beauty of this space couldn't be captured by the photos. It had modern amenities but felt like you were stepping into the past at the same time. The covered but open porch overlooking the Illinois River was also more stunning than the photos could reflect. We used it as a retreat with a small group of pastors (8 of us) and it was well loved by everyone. Highly recommended! Beware: there's only one bedroom on the main floor and the rest of the beds and bedrooms are upstairs so this space should be limited to folks who are steady on their feet and it's definitely not a good space for families with young children in my opinion for the same reason. Otherwise, book it!

Thank you so much for your stay and thoughtful feedback! I completely agree — it's so hard to capture the true beauty of the river in photos. And you're absolutely right — our charming old Victorian home, with its rich history, tall stairs, and classic decor, might not be the most convenient for little ones. However, for retreats, family reunions, or gatherings with friends, we believe it’s a truly special and memorable space. We hope to welcome you back again someday!
About the host
Hosted by Ausra Radcliffe
I’m originally from Lithuania, where I pursued a career in music with a degree in piano and spent several years ballroom dancing. After moving to the United States at the age of 22, I faced health challenges that sparked a deep personal interest in wellness. This journey led me to earn a degree as a naturopathic doctor, specializing in digestive disorders. My own experiences have fueled my passion for helping others achieve optimal health.
In addition to my professional pursuits, I love buying and staging homes for my Wellness Reset Retreats. When these homes are not hosting retreats or accommodating our family, we enjoy opening them up to other families, hoping to help create lasting memories. Family time is incredibly important to me, and traveling with kids is a true passion. Each home offers a special space for connection and joy, reflecting my commitment to both personal wellness and family togetherness.
Why they chose this property
I have always been captivated by Victorian-style homes. They have a timeless quality that makes me feel as though time slows down, offering a respite from the fast pace of modern life. They also evoke a sense of nostalgia, transporting me to places I cherish, like France or Italy, with their elegant charm and historical grace.
What makes this property unique
This house is a remarkable piece of history, originally built by a Titanic survivor and the visionary behind the Girl Scouts. This unique blend of historical significance and architectural beauty makes the property truly special. I am deeply proud to have invested in preserving such an extraordinary home, ensuring that its storied past continues to be appreciated and celebrated. It’s my sincere hope that future families will not only enjoy their time here but also feel a connection to the rich legacy embedded in these walls.
