Lovely 4 bedroom renovated stone farmhouse in an idyllic rural setting in the hills of northern Portugal, within easy reach of Porto airport,which is 90 kms away. A place to get away from it all and completely unwind, being as lazy or as active as you want to be. Ideal for those who love the countryside, authentic areas and the great outdoors - hills and forests on your doorstep, 20 minutes to the scenic river Minho on the border with Spain, and 25 minutes to beautiful blue-flag, white-sand beaches. Large secluded garden on terraces with pool, barbecue area and magnificent views of the valley and surrounding hills. Spacious and fully-equipped open-plan kitchen/living room. . Central-heating in all rooms, plus two log fireplaces. Sleeps 9, ideal for families and groups. Table football,rowing machine and exercise bicycle in the old winery where there is also a bar and extra dish washer,this room leads out onto BBQ area with outside dining table.Large selection of books(mainly in English)The salt water pool is fenced in with lockable gates.

I live 5 mins walk down the lane.I have now been in Portugal for 22 years,previously I lived in Brasil and USA.My husband worked for Taylors/Fonseca port wine company until he died in 2010.

I love this beautiful area,laid back,little traffic,lots of places to explore,beautiful beaches,both in Portugal and Spain and very few tourists.

Casa das Oliveiras is very spacious,plenty of room both inside and outside in the terraced garden.The view from the house towards the Arga hills is spectacular.The kitchen is very well equiped,and guests have enjoyed using the BBQ and experimenting with the old bread oven in the garden.

What makes this villa unique

Originally this was two small farmhouses which we made into one.It was a ruin covered in ivy when we bought it and restored it in order to rent out for families to come on holiday.

The unique benifits are that it is big enough for two families to share,the pool is big and it is not shared and I live just down the lane, nearby to give any help or advice if needed.

An outstanding holiday in a wonderful house

This property is a beautiful old renovated farmhouse, well equipped and big enough for nine of us. The views are spectatular and eating our evening meal on the terrace looking down over the valley was a real highlight of the day. The pool is large and carefully fenced in. The children had many happy hours there. Northern Portugal is a great place to be and Adria was always on hand if we needed her, as a good host. Many thanks. We would love to come again one day.

Stunning views and amazing Villa

This Villa has everything you need for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. There were 9 of us staying over 3 generations and all had plenty of space and amenities to relax and enjoy.

The views are stunning, the pool area is beautiful and the building is homely and spacious.

Situated in the hills of northern Portugal, the scenery is breathtaking. You'll need a car to enjoy the local historical towns and beaches but they are only 30mins away. The owner is local so available if you need her but other than that she will leave you to enjoy a peaceful holiday.

Thank you Adria for a lovely week, we will most certainly be back!

Great property Quiet location Stunning scenery

I have to declare that the owner, Adria, is a friend. However, this is an honest review based on a stay in September 2010 with my extended family and a revisit to the property in June this year (2017). I totally endorse the two reviews by Gillian A and Egon A. It's an ideal house for a large family or two families holidaying together and is both suitable and safe for all age groups. The pool is heated naturally and reaches a perfect temperature during the hot summer months. The farmhouse has been tastefully and sympathetically converted, retaining all its Portuguese character, but with all mod cons. In the intervening years between my two visits the property has been excellently maintained and improved. I have no hesitation in tecommending this holiday home but you will need a car to get to all the interesting places and lovely beaches in the region.

Perfect home for resting and base for exploring

A very spacious and well equipped house, with a welcoming atmosphere which makes it easy to feel at home. Here you can stay and just relax enjoying the great view over the Covas valley from the terrace, one of the balconies or the pool. The pool is big enough for your daily swim. The house is also perfect as base for day-trips to many interesting places in northern Portugal and Galicia. Sandy beaches by the sea are only 30-45 minutes' drive away. We appreciated the genuine rural environment and all the friendly people. Fresh bread available all day in Fontela café/shop/restaurant which also serves delicious food. House, garden and pool are well kept. Host lives nearby, which feels good in case any problem would arise (which did not). We recommend this place to anyone who wants to "get away from it all" and still have all services "around the corner".

Znakomity dom

Zdjęcia i opis nie pokazują jak mądrze i wygodnie tendom jest urządzony. Praktycznie zawiera dwa dwupokojowe apartamenty i znakomicie wyposażoną część wspólną. Znakomity, duży basen ze słoną wodą. Piękne widoki. Jeden z najlepszych domów w jakich mieszkaliśmy. Jedyną wadą jest dość ustronne położenie wymagające 15-minutowej jazdy krętą drogą do cywilizacji. Z drugiej strony zarówno atrakcje półnicnej Portugalii, jak i południowej Galicji są w promieniu 45-60 minut jazdy. Do Santiago de Compostela około 1,5 godziny. Gorąco polecam.
