This house was perfect for an Easter weekend trip for our family of four. The house was very clean and beds were comfortable. The view of the marsh from the dock and the bluff is beautiful. A visit from an otter and dolphins made up for the fish not biting. Communication was prompt and hospitable. We look forward to staying at The River Hut again.

Property exactly as described. Wonderful to have a full private dock for our boat. Great fishing right from there! Check-in was simple, and host was incredibly responsive with questions during trip.

So glad you got to enjoy some time on the water! Hope to see you back at The River Hut!
We have been frequenting the coast this summer as we have bought a new boat and this place was perfect! We loved being able to dock right outside of the house at a private dock. The only thing missing was some yard games to keep us entertained while hanging around the house! Will definitely stay again!

Had a great time. The dock was great to have, as we stayed on the water most of the time. Access to the Sapelo Sound was easy. House was clean and had everything we needed. Will return.

Hey, I missed responding sooner. I’m glad you enjoyed your stay! We hope to have you back this summer to enjoy our new dock!
Unique and perfect setup for what we were looking for; golf getaway weekend with high school friends, we were looking for something casual and comfortable. Beautiful view of the river, close to the course, host was super-reaponsive, and, us being from the country, perfectly "not dancy" but nice. Great properrty!

Thank you for the kind review! I’m glad your group had a good trip at the “River Hut!”
This property was perfect for my family of 3. The home was very neat and clean. We spent most of our time on the dock, which was wonderful. The owner was very helpful and very responsive. You will not find a better value on VRBO for a waterfront home.

I’m glad you all had a great trip. Look forward to having you back for another trip soon!
We really enjoyed our stay at the RiverHut. The location is right on a bluff overlooking a branch of a river, with a ramp to walk down to sit on the dock and watch the tide ebb and flow, see the birds flying over the marsh, and -- wow! -- see dolphins swimming by! The neighborhood is homely and cozy, nothing fancy but lots of lovely trees and mossing draping the branches. Easy access to Darien a charming little town, and other attractions such as Sapelo Island, St Simons Island, Jeykell Island with its Sea Turtle Education Center -- all great day trips. Also nearby is Cumberland Island State Park and the sweet town of St. Mary's. Everyone we met was kinid and friendly. Loved this trip and the stay we had!

Thank you! I’m so glad you were able to enjoy so many of the surrounding attractions!
We booked this place right after hurricane Helene. Scott the host was not only upfront about the conditions of the house, but very responsive to any of our needs or updates that we needed to know about. The River Hut is awesome, and was the perfect setup for my family. We liked the main house but loved the bunk house as we could put our fishing poles out and watch them from inside. The dock was great, we caught tons of sheepshead, shrimp and a couple small sharks. If you're looking for an old sleepy fishing town then this is your place. Bring a cooler there's plenty of fresh seafood to take home. We will definitely be booking this place again.

Glad you enjoyed your stay and left with a full cooler! Great guest!
I have an annual golf tournament at Sapelo Hammock. Always stayed at a friend’s condo on the course but he sold it. Not many options in Townsend that fit our needs so very happy I found this place and will short list it for next year. Scott was very responsive and quick to reply. Short drive to Sapelo Hammock. No issues with neighborhood or neighbors. Great experience all the way around.

About the host
Hosted by Scott Richardson
We live about an hour up the coast and want to enjoy and share this property and area with guests and friends.
Why they chose this property
The area is so casual and authentic. We purchased this property for the access to the water and dock. There aren’t many coastal areas left like this.
What makes this property unique
It’s all about the casual vibe and water access. Perfect for two families to enjoy a getaway, a guys fishing trip, or a ladies waterfront weekend to soak in some salt and sun…
