Designed for all ages! There is something for everyone at The Lodge at Hoosier National Forest-- Where Luxury Meets the Wild!
Pool Season begins May 1st! Our calendar is constantly updated--we currently have two weekends available during pool season--August 14-16th and September 18-20th. We also have a nice selection of midweek stays available.
Experience the epitome of Brown County privacy. Tucked away on 16 secluded acres and bordering the vast, untouched beauty of the Hoosier National Forest, our 2,500 sq. ft. lodge isn’t just a getaway—it’s a private retreat designed for those who want to reconnect and make memories together.
Whether you are hosting a family vacation, a quick weekend escape, or a memorable friends weekend, this is the space where "getting away from it all" really feels like home.
⭐️ EXPERIENCE YOU CAN TRUST With 18 years of local experience and a history of nearly 100 5-star reviews, we pride ourselves on delivering a flawless stay. As hosts, we understand that your vacation time is precious. We invite you to read our reviews to see why families and small groups consistently choose us.
✨ THE OUTDOOR OASIS: YOUR PRIVATE RETREAT
Why share a hotel pool when you can have a private 16-acres?
The Pool: Our massive 20x40 heated pool is the heart of summer memories. Surrounded by lush forest, it’s the perfect spot for a refreshing afternoon swim or watching the kids splash while you relax on the comfortable teak furniture. (Open and heated 5/1–10/15).
The Spa: As the sun sets, retreat to the year-round hot tub. With zero light pollution, the stargazing here is world-class.
The Land: Explore your own private retreat. Wander down to the private pond for a morning of catch-and-release fishing, or step directly off the property into the Hoosier National Forest. With no marked trails, you can use your GPS to forge your own path through hundreds of acres of woods.
🛌 THE LODGE LAYOUT: SPACE FOR EVERYONE
Inside, you’ll find 4 beautifully renovated sleeping areas, each designed with high-end finishes and forest views.
The Luxury Loft & Custom Bunks: One of our most unique spaces is the open-air sleeping loft. Just up the stairs from the game room, this airy space features custom-built bunk beds—a favorite for kids or close-knit groups who want that "classic cabin" communal feel with a modern, upscale twist. It’s the heart of the home’s vertical architecture, keeping everyone connected to the laughter below.
The Private Suites: For those seeking total quiet, our traditional bedrooms offer a serene escape with premium linens and peaceful wooded views.
The Great Room: High ceilings and massive windows bring the beauty of the forest inside. With a dining table for 10 and a massive island that seats 8, there is a seat for everyone at the table.
👨🍳 THE CHEF’S KITCHEN: EFFORTLESS HOSTING
We know that feeding a group of 10 can feel like work, so we built a kitchen that makes it a joy. Our gourmet space is "double-everything" so you never run out of room:
The Hardware: 2 Refrigerators, 2 Stoves, and 2 Dishwashers.
The Perks: A dedicated coffee bar for early mornings and a built-in high-capacity ice maker and beverage fridge to keep your poolside drinks cold all day.
🎬 THE CINEMA & GAMES: THE "RAINY DAY" SANCTUARY
The Antique Theater: Step back in time in our private cinema featuring 100-year-old historic theater seats. With antique cinema seating for 10 and a library of hundreds of movies, it’s the ultimate "night in."
The Game Room: Challenge your group to a tournament on the 8’ Olhausen pool table or go for the high score on the multiple arcade games.

☀️ Forest Retreat FAQ
Q: Is there private hiking available on-site?
A: Yes. You have 16 private acres of forest to explore. For the more adventurous, our property line is the gateway to hundreds of acres of Hoosier National Forest. Because this specific section of the forest has no formal trails, it offers a rare "off-map" experience. It is perfect for backcountry hikers, nature photographers, and those seeking total seclusion from the typical tourist crowds.
Q: What are the best summer activities at the Lodge?
A: We are a self-contained summer retreat. Most guests spend their days between the 20x40 private heated pool, the private fishing pond, and the indoor Gaming Area. Evenings are best spent in our Private Cinema or stargazing on the 16-acre estate, which enjoys "Dark Sky" conditions due to our location bordering the untamed National Forest.
Q: How does the "Double-Chef Kitchen" work for groups?
A: Large summer groups need more space for cold drinks and meal prep. We provide two refrigerators, two stoves, and two dishwashers. You can keep a week’s worth of groceries and beverages cold without ever running out of room, making it the highest-utility kitchen for large groups in Brown County.
Q: Do you have any exceptions to your cancellation policy?
A :To ensure your peace of mind, we highly recommend purchasing travel insurance at checkout. Because we are a unique, single-property destination that tends to book months in advance, we are unable to offer refunds for cancellations. However, you can purchase comprehensive travel protection at checkout that can cover your stay in the event of unexpected changes to your plans.

👋 Meet Your Hosts: The Hunt Family
Hello! We are so glad you’re considering our cabin retreat for your next getaway.
If there is one thing we know, it’s how to host a crowd! With 11 children and 7 grandchildren, we’ve spent years perfecting the art of "togetherness." We know that a great vacation isn’t just about a beautiful house—it’s about having enough fridge space for the milk, enough seats at the table for everyone, and enough activities to keep every generation entertained.
We’ve called the beautiful hills of Brown County home for 18 years, and we never tire of the peace and magic of these woods. As a big family, our favorite memories are made right here—usually centered around the pool! We specifically designed the 20x40 heated pool to be a place where the grandkids can splash for hours while the adults relax nearby. It’s been the heart of our family summers, and we’re so excited to share it with you.
We are avid travelers ourselves, and we’ve taken everything we love about our favorite stays—and everything we’ve learned from our own big family adventures—and poured it into this lodge.
Our goal is to provide a space where you can "unplug" from the noise of the world and "plug in" to each other. We hope you make memories here that last a lifetime!
— Jonathan and Jennifer

Why they chose this property
In a region known for charming cabins, our forest retreat stands apart as a premier destination designed specifically for groups of 10. We didn't just build a house; we created a unique resort experience on 16 secluded acres. Here's why the The Lodge at Hoosier National Forest is the right choice for your next milestone:
1. Unrivaled Private Amenities--Most rentals require you to share space; here, the 20x40 heated pool and oversized hot tub are yours alone. Whether it’s a morning swim or a midnight soak under the stars, the privacy of our 16-acre lot bordering the Hoosier National Forest ensures your only neighbors are the deer and the owls.
2. A Kitchen Built for Real Hosting--Feeding 10+ people can be a chore—unless you have a kitchen designed for it. With double everything (2 stoves, 2 fridges, 2 dishwashers), you’ll never struggle with fridge space or cleanup. Our massive 8-person island and 10-person dining table ensure that mealtime remains the social heart of your trip, not a logistical headache.
3. Historic Character Meets Modern Fun--Our private theater isn’t just a room with a screen; it features 100-year-old antique theater seats that tell a story. Pair that with an 8' Olhausen pool table and multiple arcades, and you have a dedicated entertainment area that keeps the kids (and kids-at-heart) busy while others enjoy the quiet of the Great Room.
4. The "Backyard" is a National Forest--You don't have to drive to a trailhead. Step off the property and directly into hundreds of acres of untouched wilderness. Whether you're fishing in the private pond or "forging your own path" through the forest, the sense of adventure here is literal and immediate.
5. Hosted by a Family Who Gets It--As parents of 11 and grandparents of 7, we know what makes a group trip work. From the two sets of washers/dryers to the open-air bunk loft that keeps the kids connected, every detail has been refined by 18 years of local experience.

What makes this property unique
1. The "Double-Everything" Advantage Most rentals "sleep 10" but aren't built to host 10. We eliminated the kitchen bottleneck with two of everything: 2 stoves, 2 fridges, and 2 dishwashers. Spend your time making memories, not waiting on the dishwasher or struggling to fit groceries.
2. A Private Gateway to the Wild We share a border with the Hoosier National Forest. This is a rare experience where your backyard extends into hundreds of acres of untouched wilderness. Total seclusion that is impossible to find in a standard resort or neighborhood.
3. The Antique Cinema Experience Our theater features 100-year-old historic seats and a library of hundreds of DVDs. It’s a dedicated entertainment wing that allows for a loud movie night downstairs while others enjoy quiet by the fireplace upstairs.
4. All-Season Celebration Ready From May to October, enjoy the 20x40 heated pool. From November to January, the Lodge becomes a Christmas wonderland with professional decor and multiple trees. We provide the festive backdrop; you just bring the family.
5. Hosted by "Group Experts" As parents of 11 and grandparents of 7, we designed this home for large groups. We’ve handled the details: from on-demand hot water (no cold showers!) to two sets of washers/dryers for active families.
