Across the Flower Square, in Zagreb’s high street Ilica 12 near Hotel Jagerhorn, there is a newly renovated 65 square meters apartment. It is located on the third floor of a residential building with an elevator, balcony and a quiet view of the forest. This functionally furnished apartment has two bedrooms (double beds 180×200 cm and 140×200 cm), a kitchen and a spacious living room with an additional bed/chaise longue for two persons. Every room has a satellite TV and a micro line. Air condition, minibar, Wi-fi and a media centre to check your emails, naturally, go without saying. The apartment is characterised by vintage charm with present-day functionality. This property is managed by the owner unlike similar listings in the city center which are managed by rental companies. Each guest is treated individually to ensure the quality of service.

About Alan Bahorić
Welcome, I'm Alan Bahoric from Zagreb, Croatia, owner of the Flower Square Apartment Ilica. My friends and I run 2 cosy apartments in the very heart of the city, the pedestrian zone around Flower Square and the main street Ilica. I hope you will have pleasant stay in Zagreb, an excellent entry point to discover Croatia, a unique blend of old school Mitteleuropa, Mediterranean and the Balkans. I designed my apartment with attention to details, modern accessories and flavour of vintage spirit. I’m a public relations professional and I run my own consultancy which is specialised in corporate communications, event management, and PR in tourism. I like to travel and sail, adore photography, lounge & jazz music, so I guess this apartment is pretty much reflection of myself.
What makes this Apartment unique
Acting as a public relations manager I had the opportunity to work with biggest hotel companies in Croatia learning about important tips & tricks in the hospitality industry, new trends and how sharing economy has changed the way we travel and choose our destinations. The next big thing were my own experiences as a traveler and guest. Blending experiences and valuable knowledge, I have tried to design a living space in which my guests will feel comfortable and safe as they were staying in their own homes. Welcome aboard :)

Central, Safe and Quiet
First off, the host speaks very good English and travels. He's educated, of good character, and has an instruction book on how his appliances operate (like the washer/dryer combo which is often unfamiliar territory for most Canadians). There are three working tvs with several English-speaking stations, a charming Juliet balcony that I actually used on a daily basis, great wi-fi reception (even on the balcony), and a bathroom in which you can comfortably move around. The apt is very clean and tastefully decorated. He has stocked his two bedroom rental with toiletries and useful tourism hand-outs and reference books. He lives super close and is sincere in his offer of assistance. (For instance, I suffered a medical emergency on my second day. He came from work to check on me and lent me taxi fare!) l would stay here again without hesitation.
I missed creature comforts which must strike southern Europeans as peculiar: bed sheets (flat and fitted) with pillows; a coffee maker, such as a Melita and basic cooking implements. But, to be fair on the latter, the apartment is surrounded with cafes, restaurants and pubs, and it is in Croatians' cultural practice to dine out on a daily basis. Also, black-out curtains or shutters in the master would've been much appreciated.
The building is close to corner stores, though he very thoughtfully stocks his fridge with skim milk, oj, mineral water and beer. The trams are right ouside. The taxi referral he provides is dependable.
Zagreb is easy to get around, most under thirty-five speak functional English and everyone is really nice. Medical and dental tourism is growing. I had a great time here, largely in part because our rental was a fortunate choice. A big thank you to my host!
Charming Apartment in a Perfect Location
Alan's apartment is beautifully presented and the location is absolutely perfect. The small balcony which is situated at the back of the apartment and underneath the Old Town is a wonderful place to sit in the early evening to listen to the peaceful bird song. Later in the evening the music from the Old Town sounds wonderful from the balcony. It's not too loud - just a gentle holiday feel! There is everything that you could want in the apartment and more and it's not hard to see why Alan is a 'superhost' as he is there if you need him but not intrusive in anyway. Apartment Ilica is the perfect place to stay in Zagreb without a doubt!
Charming, comfortable apartment in ideal location
As a frequent user of vacation rentals, it is always a pleasure to find one that feels like a real home. It is not surprising since this was once the home of a famous Croatian sculptor. This apartment is even nicer than the photos indicate. In addition, Alan, the host (and son of the sculptor), goes above and beyond to make sure the space has so many special amenties to guarantee a perfect stay. The bargain priced "minibar" provides a selection of drinks that appeal to everyone and is so convenient. The apartment is located a few minutes from the main square, the amazing market and endless cafes and restaurants. Museums are within easy walking distance. However because it's set back a bit through a small alley and parking lot, it is very quiet. This was tested when we stayed here during the celebration to honor Croatia placing second in the World Cup when the city went wild. The apartment overlooks a little linear park along its full bank of large windows that run the length of the apartment. The bathroom and shower are nice and there's a washing machine. Finally, Alan arranged a very reasonably priced pickup and return to the airport! We stayed three nights and would have been happy staying longer as Zagreb had so much to offer and we loved the charming elegance of our apartment.
Perfect location, Wonderful Host’ - and a great time to be in central Zagreb
We chose the Apartment Ilica as a haven between two cruises [one in the Baltic and one in the Adriatic] and it was perfect for the purpose. Our host, Alan, arranged for us to be met at the airport and brought to the apartment which is only steps away from the central square of the city. Everything was in easy walking distance of the apartment. The street frontage is a gracious old Hapsburg building; the apartment is actually in a rather grim looking Tito era building set back behind a courtyard. It has an eccentric looking lift and doesn’t promise much at first sight but once up the stairs, Ilica is charming. The decoration of the apartment showed great taste and atttention to detail. Everything worked - from the wifi, the washing machine to the stereo system, the air conditioning and the hot water system. We had six very happy days exploring the city.
Our only caveat might be the apartment’s greatest strength - its central location. You’re right in the city and that can pose problems. There was a nearby bar that was noisy until about 10 pm but after it closed, the place was very quiet. We happened to be in Zagreb for the quarter and semi finals of the 2018 World Cup and with Croatia winning both games, the city was just buzzing to all hours . Yes it was a bit noisy but what a chance to share in history! All in all, we loved the apartment and recommend it highly.
Great location, beautiful apartment!
We had a great stay in Zagreb! The apartment was clean, cozy, and well supplied. It really is perfectly located in the center of upper town, yet still quiet. Alan made sure we were comfortable. We loved the ice cream down the street. Would recommend this place!
Attention to detail amazing. Clean and very comfortable. Great location.
The furniture is first class and everything you might need was provided. The unit is in the centre of town with trams outside the door. Air conditioners and heating everywhere. We would highly recommend this apartment.
Flower Square Apartment Ilica is located in the centre of Zagreb, around Petar Preradović Square, colloquially known as Flower Square because of the many flower shops. All the important city landmarks are just a 10-minute walk away, and next to the tram, there is a taxi station nearby. The city centre’s pedestrian zone is a darling shopping destination, and there is also a supermarket in the very square, located within the Cvjetni shopping mall.
It is good to know that there are two pharmacies in the close proximity of Flower Square Apartment Ilica.
Flower Square Apartments Ilica, located in the pedestrian zone and do not have parking facilities, but we can recommend several public garages in the centre of Zagreb, which are also the safest place to park. For shorter stays we recommend the Cvjetni mall’s garage or garage in Ilica 45. For longer stays there is a much more affordable Tuškanac garage, only a 10-minute walk away. Parking fee is 10 Euro per day.
