THE CROW'S NEST is a large, clean, and private 677 square foot 2nd-story studio guest house above the detached garage of a million dollar waterfront home. It has 10' ceilings and is fully furnished with a private entrance. From its deck enjoy incredible views of Mt Rainier, Wollochet Bay and award-winning gardens. Use of rowboat is free. Ski boat with captain may be rented. Just about anything in historic Gig Harbor is 5-7 miles away from this convenient and affordable guest house.
Welcome to the Crow's Nest at Anderson Landing on Wollochet (pronounced wuh-lah'-chet) Bay in Gig Harbor, Washington.
Enjoy any season at THE CROW'S NEST at Anderson Landing. On the second floor of a separate building from the main house you'll have privacy, comfort, view and access to one of the most beautiful bays on Puget Sound. Enjoy our no-bank waterfront with view seating, mooring dock, lush gardens, and fire pit right on the beach.
Relax, entertain & barbecue on your private deck where you can greet the morning sun with coffee & enjoy the evening shade with a glass of wine. In the foreground of your view you'll see the quiet lush Shade Garden and fish pond designed by the owner, a Master Gardener. A cool retreat on a hot day! A bistro table and viewing benches also grace this area.
From Crow's Nest's queen-size bed view the water and Mt. Rainier...or the TV (with cable and a DVD player). WiFi is also available.
Linens are provided. Laundry facilities available for those who stay a minimum of 1 week.
Families and seniors will appreciate the easy access down to the beach and dock. Wander through the Shade Garden and enjoy the beauty of the changing landscape from early spring when the bulbs burst through to summer and fall's spectacular colors. The very short walk down to the beach is fairly level and there are no steps.
There is a Livingston (won't tip over) rowboat, and life jackets for your use, to row your way around the peaceful waters of Wollochet Bay.
If you prefer a faster pace bring your own boat or jet ski and enjoy water skiing, inner tubing and other water sports. Whatever kind of watercraft you have, tie it up to the buoy, available for your use. We have space to park your boat trailer and there is a public boat launch just 3 doors down the street. You are also welcome to bring your own paddle boards, kayaks, canoes or whatever boats you float.
Even in the WINTER this cozy retreat offers a quiet tranquility and beauty. Hundreds of unusual and beautiful migrating waterfowl visit these waters only at this time of the year. The sunsets can be quite spectacular and, with the occasional deep cold snap, the bay will freeze and we'll get the occasional snow. Our weather is temperate and seldom gets too hot (usually in the 70's and 80's in the the summer) or too cold (with winter averaging in the 40's).
We suggest that you call Candace (253-222-8799) to secure the LOWEST RATE POSSIBLE. She's good at adjusting the numbers in our guests' favor!

Bruce Anderson is in sales at Lexus of Tacoma. His hometown is Burnaby, BC, Canada, but became a citizen of the US over 40 years ago. His wife of over 40 years, Candace, grew up in the Seattle area. They met in a band that sang its way around the world. Candace has too many interests to list, but the most prominent are her garden and painting.
Candace Anderson purchased this studio in 2003
There's something about being by and breathing in salt air from seawater that is both peaceful and healing. This property has been completely reworked and rebuilt from the house to the gardens into an eyecatching, comfortable retreat for both the owners and their guests.
Living on a body of saltwater with its tides and sea life is very different from living on a lake. Though, like a lake our bay seems intimate and protected, it can be more closely compared to living on a cul-de-sac...only this is a cul-de-sac of water...salt water. Beyond Wollochet Bay is Puget Sound. Beyond Puget Sound is the Ocean. And that's the wonder of it: our little bay eventually leads to the ends of the earth.
We had a wonderful long weekend at Candace's Crow's Nest. She has included everything that you need and the space is cozy, comfortable and spacious. The view of the bay and the wonderful gardens made the visit truly memorable. We went on the annual art open studio tour and had fun visiting the 20+ artists studios. We also took the 2 hour boat tour and that was enlightening as the boat captain grew up in Gig Harbor and knew lots of interesting facts and stories about the area. Fun excursion.
Quiet, peaceful, and serene setting. If you want to get away and not have all the hustle and bustle of the city this is the place to go. Yet you are within minutes of shopping, shows, and a variety of restaurants. Your nice view of the bay and Mt Rainier is almost better than the owners have. Speaking of owners, they are truly the best landlords you could ask for. From day one they made us feel truly welcome as did all of the other neighbors. We enjoyed our three months there and were sad when we had to leave. Going to miss the campfires on the beach, marshmallow roasts, the great water view. Though we never tried them, you have fresh eggs when the chickens decide to lay. We found the Crow's Nest to be quite comfortable and furnished with everything you would need for either a short or long stay.
A gorgeous spot in a quiet location, yet with easy access to Gig Harbor. The owners are very nice and the studio is set up well. The only thing that would have made it better is a larger refrigerator.
We really enjoyed our two weeks in the Crow's Nest. Candace and Bruce were very friendly and accommodating hosts. The view was lovely!
The Crow's Nest has been perfect for my husband and I while he was working in Tacoma. It was a great "home away from home" for us. The commute across the bridge was very easy and I was happy spending my time in the wonderful town of Gig Harbor. You can get all the necessities (and more), as well as great restaurants. Our favorite for breakfast was the Devoted Kiss (WOW!) The studio is very spacious and homey and we always had a restful sleep in the comfortable bed and quiet neighborhood. The landscaping is truly amazing and it was so great to watch the plants come to life during the month of April. I brought my kayak and was able to just go out whenever I wanted and paddle in the Harbor and I found good walking right around the studio or there are many places to walk in Gig Harbor or in Tacoma. Candace was always helpful and very friendly and welcoming. I would definitely stay again and recommend it to friends.
I stayed at the Crow's Nest during a two-month internship in Gig Harbor. It was a beautiful and cozy place to stay. The owners, Candace and Bruce, were extremely friendly and welcoming, and were always willing to provide advice on things to do and see locally - I couldn't have asked for better hosts! Candace was very helpful in booking the Crow's Nest and helping me plan for my arrival. The studio itself is lovely, well cared for, and the view is AMAZING! It is much larger than it looks in photos. I think it is also worth adding that the bed is very comfortable and the kitchen is well-stocked in terms of cookware and utensils. There are also delicious fresh eggs from the owner's chickens.
The location is far enough off the beaten path to be quiet and serene, but is still within 15 minutes of the Gig Harbor waterfront, which has some great restaurants (you can't go wrong with clam chowder at Tide's Tavern) and 7 Seas Brewing, which is a local craft brewery. This would be a great place for a quiet getaway that is close enough to some great sightseeing (Point Defiance Park in Tacoma is an absolute must-see).
I feel so fortunate to have found this rental. I truly hope to have the chance to visit the Crow's Nest again in the future!
Smithsonian Magazine named Gig Harbor one of the 'Best Small Towns in America' and there is plenty of fun to be had near the Crow's Nest, should you wish to go exploring.
Downtown Gig Harbor is just 5 minutes away with its boat & kayak rentals, Harbor History Museum, parks & outdoor summer concerts & movies, & delightful specialty shops. Uptown Gig Harbor features restaurants, big box stores, specialty shops and, for movie buffs, our new 'Galaxy Uptown' multiplex theater.
No need to go out of town to eat! Feast at any of our excellent restaurants (we'll give you a list of our favorites including the restaurant that Sunset magazine named #1 best fish and chips in the West) and enjoy one of our state's many award winning wines or pour a pint of Gig Harbor's own Seven Seas brew.
The heart of Tacoma is over the Narrows Bridge, about 20 minutes away. The Tacoma Art Museum, Chihuly's Glass Museum & the new LeMay Car Museum are nearby as well. Explore the quaint Norwegian town of Poulsbo, dig clams at Joemma State Park or take the ferry from nearby Bremerton to Pike Place Market in Downtown Seattle (our favorite out-of-town outing).
Bottom Line: we are centrally located to explore historic Gig Harbor, Tacoma, Seattle, Olympic National Park, Mount Rainier National Park, the San Juan Islands and Victoria, British Columbia.
Whatever you choose to do, whether it's nothing or all of it, you'll be sure to have an incredible time at the Crow's Nest!
