THE CROW'S NEST is a large, private 739 square foot 2nd-story studio guest house above the detached garage of a waterfront home. It has 10' ceilings and is fully furnished with a private entrance. From both its upper and lower decks you will enjoy the Shade Garden...a lovely 'cool' place to be in the summer. From here you will enjoy stunning views of Mt Rainier and the bay. We are proud to have been selected to be included in the official Gig Harbor Garden Tour.
Historic downtown Gig Harbor, both quaint and very walkable, is 5-7 miles away. You'll find small coffee shops & bakeries, restaurants, bars, and gift shops along the harbor downtown to enjoy during your stay!

Relax on your private deck where you can greet the morning sun with coffee & enjoy the evening shade with a glass of wine. In the foreground of your view you'll see the quiet lush Shade Garden designed by the owner, a Master Gardener.

You are also welcome to bring your own paddle boards, kayaks, canoes, speedboat, or whatever boats you float.
Even in the WINTER, this cozy coastal retreat offers a quiet tranquility and beauty. Hundreds of unusual and beautiful migrating waterfowl visit these waters only at this time of the year. The sunsets can be quite spectacular and, with the occasional cold snap, we'll get the occasional snow once or twice a year. Our weather is temperate and seldom gets too hot (usually in the 70's and 80's in the the summer) or too cold (with winter averaging in the 40's).
PARKING - we do have one available dedicated parking spot for our renters. If you do have a guest/family member in the area who would like to stop by for the day, it shouldn't be an issue. Any additional parking needs for overnight or longer term, please just inquire with us directly as parking is limited.

This is a lovely place to stay. The waterfront is very nice and the owners allow you to use the kayaks for paddling in the bay. I especially appreciated that my kids and grandkids could come visit and play there while I was there.

Thanks for the great review, Nora! You are welcome back at The Crow's Nest anytime! Candace
Bruce and Candace are very welcoming and gracious. We just wanted to relax and the grounds are beautiful, peaceful, and quiet… just what the doctor ordered. Thank you for a wonderful stay :)
This wonderful studio is a little slice of heaven, located on the bay. It is calm, quiet, and peaceful. The views are incredible, and the hosts are kind, anhelpful!
This spacious studio has everything you need for a fun and relaxing stay in Gig Harbor. We enjoyed the view, garden, full service kitchen and roomy bathroom. The deck and views are wonderful, a great place to hang out on a sunny day. Highly Recommended!
The hosts were extremely friendly and helpful. The unit was perfect - everything we needed and more. The bed was super comfortable. The view from the deck was amazing with the bay and Mt Rainier in the background. The location was perfect and a short drive to Tacoma. We highly recommend this rental and will definitely be back to stay again next time we’re in the area!
What great hosts! We spent a month here at the Crows Nest and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our hosts invited us to celebrate the 4th with their friends and truly made our time here wonderful. The view here is spectacular and we spent a lot of time on the deck overlooking the gardens and the bay with Mt Rainier in the background.
This was an adorable stay. It was fall and rainy, but the gardens are still adorable. The home is very comfortable and quiet in a nice quiet neighborhood with a wonderful view. I'd live to see it in the spring and summer. It's also in a great location for visitors who want to explore Seattle, Tacoma, the penisula or the mountains. wawant to explore the
What a lovely, welcoming space…right down to the walking path to the studio. The gardens are gorgeous and well maintained. The owners are welcoming and friendly but not intrusive at all. The unit is bright, spacious, well thought out and super clean. So much attention to detail in order to make your stay as comfortable as possible. You actually feel like a family guest, not just a renter. Loved the deck as well…perfect for quiet morning coffee and reading and an evening glass of wine(or two). Location was great and easy access to Gig Harbor and all it has to offer. We had a great little stay.
Beautiful, clean and well stocked large studio - Crow’s Nest was perfect for a couple. View of the bay and Mt. Rainier from balcony makes you never want to leave it. Candace was a great host sharing her kayaks for relaxing cruises on the bay. Convenient to grocery, restaurants and more. Highly recommend.
Friendly hosts and in a safe area… they have kayaks and a small rowboat to use. One set of steps to get the apartment above the garage. No dishwasher the listing tells you that. Stacked washer/dryer works but it takes a long time (2 hours) to dry clothes. Heat is electric resistance and hard to regulate… it has a dial with no gauge showing temperature. The owner could save a lot of energy by installing an inexpensive split system heat pump for both air conditioning and heat that would be quiet and comfortable.
We’ve been traveling a great deal recently and throughout our lives and this place on the water, bar none was the best. Our hi light of every day of the month we lived there were the sunsets with the gleaming Mt Rainier as a backdrop. We delighted in walking through the lovely gardens on our way down to the beach for kayaking. We were totally enthralled watching the young sailors learning the art of managing their small boats almost every afternoon and evening.
We could go on and on but suffice it to say if you ever get the chance to stay here in “The Crow’s Nest” , jump at it early. You will not be disappointed!!!
This was our 2nd stay. Very comfortable and clean. Owners are close by and very friendly and helpful! Great location. The surrounding garden is beautiful and you wake up each day to a view of Rainier over the water from your bed.
We love it there and highly recommend.!

This apartment is perfect for long term stays- it has everything you need and its close by to restaurants and grocery stores. The view is absolutely amazing from the apartment. Everything was clean and well kept and I highly recommend staying here!
This a spacious studio with more on hand amenities than are listed.
Beautiful view from bedroom/porch of water and Rainier.
Lovely gardens and walkway. The dock is well maintained and solid.
Excellent parking. Bed was extremely comfortable. We could not have
been more pleased. Candace was kind and gracious.
Because the water was so calm, we choose to paddle from Wollochet
boat launch( about 4 min drive) to the Narrows bridge where there is a park for lunch.
Normally this is a tricky paddle because of the currents, but we planned
it well and the water was calm. We saw 5 Eagles, 2 Red Tailed Hawks,
approx 50 Porpoises, 2 Sand Pipers, Cormorants, Terns and so much more!
The boat launch right next the home is a great backup for less experienced
paddlers or if you happen to hit rough seas because it is more protected.
Very clean and very private. We will definitely be visiting again.
An absolutely delightful place!
We highly recommend.

Stayed 6 weeks and loved it. Beautiful Wollochet Bay seen from the balcony. This is an extremely large studio unit above the garage. They have been updating with a stacked mini w/d, new small stove, hot plate, toaster, mini Kerrigan and microwave. You will have to wash your dishes but the view of the happenings on the gravel drive are fun to see. Candace helped me carry my stuff up a flight of 14 steps. (I’m 70). My 2 cats adored all the window sills! Candace was 100% nice!!! Great place...would have stayed longer but all booked up!
Everything was good very comfortable love the chickens people are very kind I would highly recommend to anyone

Great place to stay. Wonderful views!
Like other reviews before me, it felt much larger than a 'studio'. My family really enjoyed our time here.

Why they chose this property
There's something about being by and breathing in salt air from seawater that is both peaceful and healing. This property has been completely reworked and rebuilt from the house to the gardens into an eyecatching, comfortable retreat for both the owners and their guests.
What makes this property unique
Living on a body of saltwater with its tides and sea life is very different from living on a lake. Though, like a lake our bay seems intimate and protected, it can be more closely compared to living on a cul-de-sac...only this is a cul-de-sac of water...salt water. Beyond Wollochet Bay is Puget Sound. Beyond Puget Sound is the Ocean. And that's the wonder of it: our little bay eventually leads to the ends of the earth.
