Beautifully refinished old summer kitchen

  • 4 of 5

Very nice accommodations. Lovely grounds & better than any hotel. We love history, wish there was more history of the cottage & pictures of before and after the renovation. Could have done a little better job clearing cob webs & spiders before stay our stay, but overall loved it.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your review. We are so pleased you enjoyed the accommodations. We are also so sorry that our cleaning crew failed to prepare the cottage correctly. We certainly work for a deep clean between each guest and in this case we missed the mark. Should you ever stay with us again and do not find the cottage cleaned to your satisfaction please call and we will have someone right over to straighten things up. We strive for 5 star accommodations sorry in this case we missed the mark.

Beautifully renovated historic home

  • 5 of 5

A beautiful stay from the minute you drive on to the property. The owners did a commendable job on updating the home to modern standards, but also keeping unique aspects of the original home. My favorite parts of the house were the porch and fireplaces. Would love to come back again!

This is perhaps our 5th stay here and we LOVE it every time. This year, however, we were greeted by BRAND NEW bathrooms and kitchen- much like the rest of the house they were redone with a simple elegance that fits with the historical beauty of the house. Well done! I can't wait to return!

The home is beautiful, the setting is beautiful. I would like to recommend that the linens be unscented though. To those of us with allergies, the strong floral scent was TOO much.

Owner's Response: We take great pride in creating a five star experience for our guests and apologize that we miss the mark on the linens. If you ever return to the area and choose the stay with us again please let me know about the linens and I would be happy to have the cleaning/prep crew wash them in a neutral detergent. Thank you for the feedback. We hope to have you back soon.

Relaxing and regal

  • 4 of 5

My husband and I loved the beautiful Cottage at Woodley and its magnificent scenery. Spending an extra day after my daughter's nearby wedding was a perfect ending to the whirlwind weekend

We were able to slow down and take some time for ourselves. Just sitting on the lovely screened porch listening to the cows and the swishing grasses was heaven. The beds were the best we've experienced at a hotel. We'd love to come back to this cozy and comfortable getaway to visit Montpelier and nearby wineries. The only thing we would have appreciated would have been more personal contact with the owner while we were there. His gruff father directed us to the cottage when we accidentally went to the main house next door.

Owner's Response: My sincerest apologies you did not receive a five star greeting when you arrived. We normally have a sign out front directing folks to the cottage when they come up the main drive. I believe that was down for cleaning and must have not been replaced. We take pride in the home and I wish your interaction had been more pleasant. The only excuse I can offer is my father has been ill for the last two years and sometimes forgets his southern charm. Again we do apologize for not meeting your expectations in that area and hope if you ever return to the area that you give us a second change. Take care and thank you for the feedback.

Wedding escape!

  • 5 of 5

This was absolutely the perfect spot for us to stay for our son's wedding at The Market at Grelen. Great location, very peaceful and well done but still had the big screen for game watching. Thank you!
