Natural Nesting Grounds was a great place for us during our visit with family in Boone. It was clean, well-stocked and a nice quiet location. We will definitely stay again when we are back in town!
We were very happy with our stay. It was nice to have the eggs and oatmeal for breakfast, it would’ve been nice to have bread for toast, but not a big deal. Also would’ve used a rubber spatula if there was one. But it was very clean, and the beds were comfortable, and the host was helpful and replied quickly.
This is a nice quiet cozy place to stay. We were in town for wedding activities and it was close to the venue. It was nice to come back and be able to relax. The bed was very comfortable so good sleeping was appreciated for the busy weekend. If ever in Boone again we would check availability again.
This was our first stay at a property. We were in town for our son's wedding. Everything was wonderful. House was very clean, well decorated and inviting. Loved the tall ceilings and french doors. Everything was so nice. Loved the special touches with chocolates in candy dish, blueberries for pancakes and special liquid hand soap. We would have loved to have had more time to spend there. Have already discussed returning for a weekend trip.
Natural Nesting Grounds did not disappoint! Ashlie is an excellent host, making sure every detail for your stay is covered. We loved the place and the decor. It was quiet, clean, and a great place to relax while we visited the Boone area. We had a great night's sleep on a very comfy mattress and enjoyed the notes Ashlie posted around the place to communicate a friendly welcome and the instructions from the host were always clear. Ashlie got back to us every single time in a prompt manner. We recommend a lovely stay in this unique property.
Our stay here turned a difficult trip into a peaceful journey. This beautiful cottage is cozy yet spacious. Every square foot thoughtful, gracious and welcoming. Ashlie has considered everything a person could possibly want/need for a peaceful getaway or weary travelers needing comfort and recharging. She is a host with a genuine heart of hospitality. If you are staying anywhere near Boone, Iowa don’t miss the opportunity to stay here. It’s not just a place to sleep but a destination to relax and savor.

Liked: Cleanliness
Disliked: Listing accuracy
Was a little difficult to find the entrance. Was not really thrilled to learn the one and only bathroom was IN one of the bedrooms - that should have been spelled out in the description. Was a sign not to change the thermostat setting, just open windows if it got too warm but when I tried to open windows they either wouldn’t open at all or would open but not stay up. Description said breakfast was included but didn’t find that to be so hot. There were eggs but no bread as the sign said. There was a little milk but was past the expiration date. The house was cute and clean but not very functional.
I had the pleasure of staying at this lovely home, and it was an absolutely fantastic experience. The house itself is beautifully decorated with vintage furniture, giving it so much charm and character. The bed was incredibly comfortable and clean, ensuring a restful night's sleep after each day of activities. There were plenty of amenities that made the stay even more enjoyable. From the variety of coffees and teas to the cozy living spaces, everything was well thought out and provided. The host truly went above and beyond to ensure my stay was perfect. She was so friendly and communicative! As a special touch, she even offered a free night’s stay on Christmas so I could enjoy more time with my family, which was incredibly generous.I would absolutely recommend this property to anyone looking for a memorable and comfortable stay. I would definitely return!

About the host
Hosted by Ashlie Hilsabeck
Hello! I'm Ashlie! First and foremost, I'm a Mama of 4 little people who keep me extra busy. We love to travel & explore together and we enjoy checking out different vacation rentals too! I am a small business lover, and I have a couple of my own, including this duplex rental that I am using as a vacation home! You can find me gardening, cooking, thrifting, or tackling a home project. There’s always something that can be dug up, painted, refurbished, or explored.
Why they chose this property
Please remember that this is a duplex unit and although it sits on a corner lot, in a relatively quiet neighborhood, there can be some noise. It's close to the high school, library, and downtown so you shouldn't experience any late-night ruckus but there can be some hustle and bustle throughout the day. There will be stays when no one will be home next door, and other times you might hear the neighboring door open/close, children playing outside, or the occasional footsteps/noises from above.
What makes this property unique
This charming home was built in 1900, and this duplex unit still boasts many original features. Beautiful hardwood floors, stunning chandeliers, and french doors. We also make seasonal changes to the decor to keep the space feeling festive, cozy, and appropriate for the time of year. These special touches may not be present in the standard listing photos. The photos I've provided accurately depict the layout and features of each room in the vacation rental. Please let me know if you have any questions!
