About Joan Martinie
As a big fan of Frank Lloyd Wright, I was surprised when we first time saw the house. Former owners David and Jillayne Arena and their family spent 36 years and did a great job restoring the house.
Joan Martinie purchased this House in 2011
Why Joan Martinie chose Burnham Park
One of only two restored Frank Lloyd Wright-designed American System-Built homes in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. One of only a few Frank Lloyd Wright-designed houses where you can spend the night. Frank Lloyd Wright signed the actual building permit in 1916. A true Prairie Style original. Light-filled rooms create a warm, organic living space. Maple floors throughout, 80 leaded glass windows, built in bookcases and armories, tray ceilings, natural fireplaces. Spacious, vintage Danish-designed Poggenpohl kitchen. Amazing stained glass skylight floods staircase with light. Generous master suite with en-suite bath, natural fireplace, and many built-ins. Private, mature landscaped yard with deck.
What makes this House unique
Stay in Frank Lloyd Wright designed American System-Built Home, enjoy 80 gorgeous leaded glass windows, amazing stained glass skylight floods staircase with light, and view the other five Wright-designed homes on the same block-the longest continuous stretch of Wright homes. Great to stay in a historic property
I think the building was originally a two unit property but over time has been consolidated into one unit. So very spacious, five bedrooms, but maybe lost some authenticity. Living room was terrific, what you would want from a FLW building. Owners were very helpful, informative.
Thank you for your wonderful reviews, and information for the FLW house. We appreciate your support. Hope to see you again in the future.

The house was everything we hoped it would be
Our trip to Milwaukee was based on the NYT 36 Hours in Milwaukee. Staying at the house was the highlight of the trip.
It’s always a treat to stay at a Frank Lloyd Wright property. This house was delightful in so many ways. However some of the authenticity is lacking because of the up-dates. Also Burnham Street is very noisy. Would stay here again though. Location is great for seeing Milwaukee.
Very nice, comfortable house. Would stay here again
Thanks, Steve! Hope to see you again in the future!
Book club girls weekend
The home has a historic presence in Milwaukee. It has beautiful architecture and has been well maintained and preserved. It has a comfortable atsmosphere. The location is convenient to visit the sites in the city. Owners are responsive, friendly, and they allowed us to check in early. They shared the homes history which made our stay more special. Our book club read the book Loving Frank by Nancy Horan and the history of the house solidified our connection with the book.
