Welcome! This waterfront vacation cottage has been under our family's ownership since 2012. When we purchased, the goal was to keep the historical ambiance and features that had made it such a great place in the past but to continually add improvements to enhance the lake experience even more.
Among these changes have been whole-house air conditioning, a renovated kitchen including a new range, flooring, lower cabinets, lighting and also, for hot water security, a new larger water heater. Additionally, it's is now pet-friendly so you can bring the whole crew.
New features for 2018 include restoration of original flooring in bedrooms, new flooring in downstairs powder room, replacement of concrete deck at the lake side, new privacy fence, new outdoor grill and a fresh coat of paint on the outside.
The cottage maintains its many comfortable features including a fireplace; an historic bar room to talk and unwind (BYOB); one full bath and two convenient half-baths; a spectacular front patio right on the lake for breakfast as you welcome the sunrise (see video); have lunch al fresco; sunbathe; have barbeque for dinner and enjoy the sunset; and later, for star gazing, dreaming, and fellowship by the lake.

I'm an architect who grew up in the area and wanted a place for my far-flung siblings and family to be able to return to. But when we're not here it's a chance to share the lake experience with others.
Ted purchased this Cottage in 2012
Why Ted chose Huron Township
The view is incredible, and you are right on the water in this house. The open floor plan on the ground level really takes advantage of this relationship. Additionally, the bedrooms are very private upstairs and have some of the best views.
What makes this Cottage unique
The waterfront location and convenient access to Cedar Point. Additionally, the house has 4 bedrooms and is pet-friendly.

As good or better than the description
We were in town for the Malamute National Specialty this last week. It was nice to have a dog-friendly home with the 3 bathrooms, a full kitchen, and plenty of space. They even have bowls for the dog! It was clean and I was especially thrilled about the coffee maker that makes either a full pot or single serves. The view was really nice, in the morning there's this neat phenomenon between maybe 7 and 8am where a mass quantity of birds fly across (feeding?) low on the water and they're as far as the eye can see in either direction! The instructions Ted sent were easy to understand. The neighborhood was quiet as well. Ample off-street parking for our vehicles. We stayed 8 nights and it was perfect for us. I would absolutely stay there again!
A great long weekend getaway.
I had visited this cottage before when a friend rented it and I was impressed enough to rent it myself.
Everything was ready for our stay and very clean. The cottage supplied everything we needed and is quite spacious. The layout of the rooms and bathrooms, both upstairs and down, is refreshingly different and allows for individual privacy if desired. We had a small party but this cottage could handle more.
We especially enjoyed the beautiful waterfront, the nautical decor, some of which has quite historically interesting detail, and the pool table. I would definitely rent this place again.
Quaint, cute, beautiful, fun lake-side cottage!
I met up with five of my high school girl friends for a four day semi-reunion. We all LOVED the cottage and are already making plans to return next fall. It is right on the water and we loved hanging out on the patio listening to the waves. The beds were comfortable and we all commented on how well we slept. We made use of the fireplace every night as it was fairly cool this time of year, but we also wished that there was a fire ring we could have used on the patio. I think our favorite place in the cottage was the bar! (which would make sense if you ever met us. ;-) )
We had some minor issues and George, the caretaker, took care of them almost immediately. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed to prepare our meals and when we found that the toaster oven wasn't working, George had us a new one by that afternoon!
My favorite thing about this cottage is that Ted, the owner, allows dogs. Not only 'allows' them, but welcomes them! When I arrived, I found two matching food and water bowls and extra poop pick-up bags and the fact that I have two fairly large dogs was never a problem!
I can't recommend this place enough and all of us are already excited to come back next year and make some more memories!!!
Perfect Spot for a Lake vacation
Love Love Love this house. The owners are great. The house is laid out nicely for a vacation home. It is right on the lake. The back patio is right on the water. While you can't swim off the back because of the rocks, you can easily fish there. Great place to sit on quiet mornings with a cup o coffee and read while watching the waves. The small Rye Beach park is just a couple of houses over, and is perfect for small kids. The swimming area is protected and the beach is clean with a nice playground. With our larger family, it's just a short drive over to the Nickel Plate beach. Beautiful wide white sand. Lots of waves for the teenagers.
The house is conveniently located only a 10-minute drive from the mall at Sandusky for anything you need over there. Movie theater, shops, restaurants. We even slipped over there for a simple unexpected car repair. Very convenient. It is also only about 20 minutes from Port Clinton and Marble Head. Our family likes to do some activities over there and it is very close.
The house has a pool table, which was used quite a bit. It is worn, but functional. The bedrooms are small, but no one really spends a lot of time in bedrooms when on vacation. Plenty of restaurants in town. We hit the Bar North at the golf course as well as Berardi's. Love both. The family favorite is always the Pied Piper. We also hit the Donut Shop a couple of times for those sleeping in.
Love this place.
Lakefront property......what a view!
We were very happy upon arrival. The house was clean and cool. The best feature for us was the privacy patio out back that is literally on the lake. The house is spacious and equipped with the basic necessities. Take the ferry to put n bay island, it is a fun day trip. We would recommend this house to anyone who wants a great view and a relaxing experience.
Relaxing accommodations on lake Erie
We stayed at the Cape Cod Lakefront Cottage after July 4th weekend. It was very clean and decorated in a nautical theme throughout the entire house. Very quaint. Ted was very accommodating to our needs. Beds were comfortable but a little hot in the morning summer sun. We brought our dog also. Loved the bar to hang out around. My boys played pool also. Plenty of bathrooms for 7 of us (even though there is only one tub/shower). Lots of room to sit and play games at. The back patio has a great view of the lake, can't get any closer. We visited the Huron Lighthouse, took Miller Ferry to Put in Bay and hung out at the Nickle Plate Beach for the day. Thanks Ted, I would definitely refer my family and friends.
Go Carts, Fishing Charters, Shopping, Nautical Museum, monuments such as the Marblehead Lighthouse and Thomas Edison's Birthplace, local winery tours & tastings, OTB Racetracks. Lake Erie islands like Put-in-Bay, Kelly Island and Pelee Island are accessible by ferry. Cleveland, with the Indians, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, museums and Horseshoe Casino is only 50 miles away. Amish country, about 80 miles away, is a fascinating day trip.
