Great tropical get away
This was our third to trip to Fiji to dive on the Rainbow Reef, and our first time renting a house. The overall experience and the cost far exceeded the resorts. It was such a great experience we plan a trip back as soon as possible. The house is beautiful inside with all walls and ceilings covered in local wood. The main room is huge and opens to a large covered patio with plenty of seating. The kitchen is really nice and big. The master bedroom overlooks the water, and the other two bedrooms are large. There are two bathrooms. The whole house was well maintained and super clean. There are steps down to the beach which you can walk on at low tide. The view is unbeatable, you can see the sunrise and sunset. We had the caretakers family do all our cooking for a very reasonable fee, and it was great. We spent our days diving, snorkeling, hiking and just relaxing. The dive shop picked us up for the short 5 minute drive to the boat. We have been all over the world diving, and the rainbow reef is our favorite. The soft corals are amazing. We took advantage of massages every other day right on our back porch at a very reasonable price and they were best massages ever. When our two weeks were up, we felt like locals and even hired a band for a party. Great people, great house, great view, great vacation.
Amazing place with amazing people! We couldn't have chosen a more perfect place!
We actually stayed here many years ago.. I believe it was September of 1997 but this site only allowed putting in dates within the past year. Yes.. I know. A long time ago. But I had never gotten around to reviewing our stay here. We wrote in the guest book that was at the home but I wasn't aware that there was a place to write one online until now. I am thinking of going back with my father and 2 kids and decided to look this place up to see if they were still renting. To my delight they are. I am definitely going to see about booking time there at the end of this year. I can't say enough good things about it. The location was perfect and Sili and Emelia were the most amazing people. We considered them friends when we left. I even named my daughter Emelia. Because I had hoped that by giving her that name that she would carry some of the same loving and kind energy that the she has. I always thought that someday I would return when I had kids.. and now that time has come. It's nice to see that they are still there. I am so happy about that. I would very highly recommend staying at this location. At the time they had a taxi that was dedicated to us the entire time. He would take us into town whenever we wanted. But many times we preferred to experience it like most others and take the bus. If you do this be sure to take plenty of wipes! You will come back a few shades darker due to the dust kicked up by the bus. That is if they still have dirt roads. When we left we had heard that Australia was wanting to come in and pave the roads for them. I hope they didn't. It was perfect the way that it was. There was a restaurant a few doors down that I believe was an English woman's home. It was amazing! We went several times. There was a store just a short walk the opposite way that had everything we needed. Even warm samosas in the morning that we would take on our hikes. If we wanted fish.. Sili and Emelia would be catching it while we were out and have it ready for us in time for dinner. It was a very quiet and private location but many nights we enjoyed spending time with them and their family. If you really want to experience the culture and the people without all the commercialism.. Taveuni and this home would be the ideal way to do that.
