Disappointing at best
For context, we stayed in this house for 11 nights. We have stayed in over 90 places in the last 20 months as we are traveling full time so we have a lot to compare this property to. Unfortunately, we cannot recommend this accommodation.
For starters, the owner advertised AC. The house only has AC on the first floor. There is no AC in the upper two floors where the bedrooms are located. To make matters worse, there are no drapes, only solid wooden doors on the windows. This means at night you cannot open the windows without bright lights and the rooms become quite warm and stuffy. This was extremely uncomfortable in August. When we challenged him about this, he said that he didn’t need to explain that the bedrooms didn’t have AC on VRBO.
When we first arrived, we told the owner that we would be having 2 guests for 5 days during our stay. He insisted on being paid extra for them. This would have been fine normally, but when we asked him for a second fan for the guest bedroom due to the lack of AC, he refused to provide one so we had to purchase our own.
In addition to paying more for our guests, the owner demanded additional city taxes when we arrived that we did not know about in advance.
We were only provided 1 set of sheets per room and 1 bath towel per person. Because we rented for 11 days, we asked for additional linens. He agreed to provide them, but never did. Consequently, we had to take our linens to a laundromat mid stay (a 25 minute walk away) to wash them on our own.
There were absolutely no basic supplies in the house when we arrived (paper towels, sponges, toilet paper, water, napkins, etc.). After asking for them, they were delivered 2 days later. Even though the owner agreed to provide coffee filters, he did not provide them which rendered the coffee pot useless as we were unable to find them on our own.
The house smelled of humidity and mildew despite running the dehumidifier 24/7. We were subjected to dogs barking and car alarms throughout our stay.
Even though the photos on the VRBO site show side tables in the living room, they were not there. There is no place to set a drink or food down other than the floor. The room is not comfortable as a result.
The most disappointing aspect of our stay was trying to get help from the owner. He went dark on us mid stay and that was it. We were on our own. Renter beware!
