Great cabin right on the lake in a quiet offshoot of the main lake. Private. Cabin is very clean and nice. Endless hot water was a big bonus. Deck is beautiful and inviting with nice view of the lake through the trees. Right near dog creek and wax marina was a big plus. Having paddle board and canoe at the ready was also very nice! Getting it into the water from the property is a daunting task so we took it to dog creek campground to launch, but it’s literally 4 minutes away and excellent access there. Fire area is nice and clean and was setup great. We pretty much took advantage of everything the cabin offers and found nothing wanting. Great experience with the host as well!

Well-appointed cabin for a family up to 5 based on available beds.Picturesque setting with a great firepit for outdoor cooking and s'mores (with marshmallow roasting skewers in the kitchen drawer under the coffee machine!).Challenging water pressure and bathroom accommodations (tub with plastic surround). No practical means of transporting any watercraft down to the lake by hand or foot due to overgrown weeds in front of the cabin or the long and relatively steep and rutted trail to the south. Bring a rooftop rack to drive to the nearest public ramp.Perfect distance to the National Park so you can have a wonderful Kentucky experience.

Hi! Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We’re glad you enjoyed your stay and appreciate the feedback. We did want to provide a little context on a few of the items mentioned, as some of them are simply characteristics of this particular property. The water pressure can be challenging at times because the cabin is located in the woods and operates on well water. We also do, in fact, have a vintage clawfoot tub, not a plastic surround, in the cabin. The bathroom is small, but the cabin itself is a tiny, charming Amish-built cabin on 16 acres, and we feel that its cozy, rustic character is a big part of its appeal. As for the path to the lake, we completely understand that it can be a little challenging. Because the property is on the lake and regulated by the COE, we aren’t permitted to construct a man-made path or use chemicals beyond the designated red line. We do our best to maintain a natural path while working within those restrictions. For guests bringing watercraft, using the boat launch is definitely the easier option, although many of our guests have really enjoyed having the ability to access the lake directly from the cabin. We’re sorry the stay didn’t quite reach a 10/10 for you, but we truly appreciate you choosing our cabin and sharing your feedback. We hope you’ll consider coming back and visiting us again!
