We had a fantastic stay. We locked ourselves out of the bedroom at one point with my phone in there but the host was cast to get to us to help. Definitely will stay there again if I come back in the area

Stayed in Martin's home Oct 5-Oct 10. Upon entering we noticed stained carpet. House rules are to take shoes off upon entering. Really? - This house is extremely dirty. We contacted Martin with our concerns. He responded asking for pictures & the date/times the pictures were taken. I sent 31 pictures with an inquiry as to how he was going to resolve this. His response was he needed to confirm with his cleaning company. I heard nothing more.- Following checkout, I contacted VRBO, as the lack of cleanliness and the ghosting from Martin is unacceptable. I've used several vacation rentals over the years, and have never encountered this filth. VRBO asked to see the pictures and VRBO made contact with Martin, seeking him to make financial compensation. He responded back to VRBO, stating he would not make any financial compensation. - It is my hope this review will help others when making a decision to stay or not stay at Martin's home. The following are some of the imperfections in Martin's home.- Master bath: back of toilet seat had dried urine, hair, dirty toilet paper pieces, etc. Feces on wall as well as under toilet seat. Shower has mold. Curly hair found inside and outside of shower. Tubs with dirt rings. Toilet plunger full of dried toilet paper also found on walls behind toilet. Mirrors full of splatter.-Insect killer stored alongside pots/pans-food left in fridge/freezer. Unclean fridge-laundry left in washer-shoes outside back door-31 pictures of concerns

Pros: communication was pretty good. The beds were pretty firm, we thought perhaps too firm, but everyone slept well and no one was sore the next day. Also, our kids enjoyed the large TV in the living room.Cons: there were not enough dishes, and the ones that were there in the drawers and cupboards weren't clean. We used paperware/plasticware because we were pretty disgusted by the dishes. Also, the master shower needed a good deep cleaning. There were also very basic decor and amenities (for instance, we couldn't find a single tissue box), and it just didn't have as nice a feel as most places where we have stayed.

Not the Cleanest

PROS: The property and neighborhood was quiet and nice. The instructions on entering the gate and the home itself was very easy. The owner was very responsive when I needed anything. CONS: Upon first glance the house smelled clean and looked fairly the same. After the doing a thorough inspection of the house it was very dirty. The kitchen trash was not empty and there was a food container inside. The dish soap was actually TIDE laundry detergent. The light fixtures in the half bath had some sort of brown stain on it as well as the wall. The hand towels in all the bathrooms were used and not laundered. The upstairs hall bathroom still had a dirty towel hanging in the shower. There were no washcloths to wash our bodies with, so we had to go to the store and purchase them. The master bathroom tub was the only reason I booked the home, and it was filled with dirt. I cleaned it out, but the tub drain was backed up, so we didn't use the tub only the shower. The air condition wasn't working as the filter light was blinking on the thermostat. The iron didn't work. OVERALL: We took out ALL the trash before we left and washed the two cups used and made sure the refrigerator was empty. We were there for my daughter's college graduation, so we were only there to sleep but it would have been nicer if the home was clean and not "lived" in.
