Beautiful, clean, modern second floor apartment in Solin
Obviously newly appointed 5 bedroom second floor apartment between Solin and Klis. Unusual addition of access to a lovingly restored old fashioned kitchen with an open oven where you can light a fire and cook in a traditional way. Tomislav our host was really friendly and very keen to help. He met us with other members of his family on the night we arrived and had thoughtfully prepared traditional meats and cheese with tomatoes and bread so we could eat. The apartment was spotlessly clean and has every mod con including free WiFi which must have been good since our two teenagers didn’t complain about it all holiday!! The air conditioning was FAB. I can’t do the heat and with this excellent air con whilst in the apartment I didn’t have to! Beds are very firm. A special interactive app designed by his godson helped us find local restaurants and supermarkets. We also really appreciated thoughtful touches such as washing tabs which are often missing from holiday lets and means buying whole boxes just to do a couple of washes. There’s loads to do nearby but I’d recommend looking in advance and working out what you want to see. Parking anywhere along the seafront is at a premium and in Split the roads are so stuffed full of parked cars that getting between them can be tricky. Don’t miss a walking tour of Diocletian palace, a day on the coast even if you’re not a beach lover - Brela is lovely and the road down to it from the mountains spectacular. Klis fortress is worth seeing for the views and Stella Croatiica (organic olive oil, plants and a mock-up of traditional village where you can have a meal were great. The Salona Roman remains are worth seeing but are very exposed so remember sunscreen water and a guidebook. Trogir is lovely with beautiful views and a lovely old medieval town but quite touristy. Lovely jewellers if you are interested. The islands are easy to get to and have a slightly different vibe with amazing sunsets and great night clubs if you and your extended party are neither too young nor too old! It’s very hot with temperatures reliably over 30 every day and with a ltitle planning offers sailing, kayaking diving etc. If all hosts are like Tomislav and his family then Croatia will go from strength to strength as a holiday destination!
