This is not your ordinary cabin. Nothing was compromised when designing this fully furnished, short or long term, vacation rental. Built in 2006, the home offers high quality furnishings. It was meticulously constructed of hand-hewn Montana timber logs. The 1200sq' Brazilian hardwood deck wraps around the main floor level providing an extraordinary spread for gathering with family and friends while being surrounded by national forest that offers wonderful views of the mountains above and the valley below. The kitchen is complimented by granite counter tops and new stainless steel appliances including a duel fuel Viking gas range. There are two gas fireplaces, one located in the living area and the other in the recreation room on the walk-out ground level. The Recreation room is divided between a beautiful mahogany pool table on one side a 55 inch HD flat screen on the other. The Cabin is also outfitted with WI-FI and DIRECT TV. The home is fully supplied with quality bedding and linens. The laundry area is equipped with a pair of top of the line Electrolux, large capacity front load washer and dryer.

The surrounding area is a mecca for 'year round' outdoor recreation. If you're looking to get away from it all or simply seeking an area that offers a true Rocky Mountain recreational experience, then you have found it. 'The home sits conveniently above the head waters of the 'Gold Medal' Frying Pan river and Ruedi Reservoir. All personal watercraft are welcome. There is plenty of parking space for multiple vehicles and trailers at the cabin. Ruedi Reservoir offers more then 220 square miles of boating and open water recreation in the summer. While these two highlights are two of the more obvious area attractions, it doesn't stop there. The fall season offers some of the best elk and deer hunting in the state. In addition, the winter months invite world class snowmobiling, cross country skiing and any outdoor winter activity that you can imagine, including ice fishing on Ruedi for that dedicated angler. All of this is conveniently nestled in the tranquil and majestic White River National Forest. 'The Cabin' is an exceptionally scenic 20-25 minutes drive which meanders up the Frying Pan river from the town of Basalt. Bald eagles, Big Horn sheep, Elk, deer and wild turkeys are a common site. Basalt offers excellent dining options, several boutique's for the casual shopper and a choice fly fishing outfitters. There is also a General Store in town to pick up your basic essentials. An additional 10 minutes further down valley the Willet's Town Center offers additional shopping, multiple dining options and a list of retailers including Whole Foods market and City Market for stocking up on your complete grocery list. Aspen and Snowmass are located, "up valley", approximately 45-50 minute drive away from the cabin.

Great Log Cabin Retreat!

  • 5 of 5

This is such a lovely setting above Ruedi Lake, great views from the living areas and the large deck. Upon our arrival, we were delighted to see a full rainbow over the mountains. The owner was so helpful. The cabin was in perfect order, with many amenities, tasteful decor and comfortable furnishings. We grilled steaks our first night. Our grand kids loved the pool table! The guys enjoyed terrific fishing on the Frying Pan River close by. We saw water skiers on the lake. We enjoyed an excursion to the town of Basalt, less than half hour drive on the scenic Frying Pan Road. There is a new Whole Foods Market in the area. Once the kitchen is stocked, there's no need to leave the cabin! This is a perfect place to relax and renew, in a majestic setting.

Excellent Cabin & Host

  • 5 of 5

My family stayed the weekend at the Cabin and loved every moment. From playing pool in the first level to dining on the deck in the cool mountain weather. Everything was very clean and nicely decorated. We enjoyed watching the local wildlife and visiting Basalt. Dan answered every question we had and quickly responded to our emails. Look forward to going back again!

Scenic Quiet Well Kept

  • 4 of 5

This rental is beautiful and in a beautiful location. The views from the decks and hot tub are amazing! We primarily hiked in the surrounding mountains near Aspen and Independence Pass. It is a bit of a trek to these areas, but a very scenic drive in the Frying Pan Valley. The owner, Dan, also suggested a hike at the end of Frying Pan Road which was super scenic with mountain views and lakes (Hagermans Pass). We would definitely love to vacation in this area again!

Amazing cabin surrounded by such beauty! Exactly what we needed - pictures don't do it justice!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin is beautifully decorated with most everything you need! We had 2 families stay (4 adults and 4 young teens). The beds were amazingly comfortable and there was plenty of space for us to all spread out! All the amenities you need! It was refreshing not to have cell phone coverage (there is a land line if you must make a call) but have wifi if you need to check in at work via email. You are surrounded by the quiet and beauty of the mountains. My favorite was drinking my morning coffee on the deck in complete quiet, overlooking God's amazing creation. Spent several days fly fishing on the Frying Pan River. Just breathtaking! Dan was absolutely fantastic to work with. Very responsive and answers all questions very timely. He was such a gracious host! The scenic drive into Basalt from the cabin (about 25 min to town) is honestly a breath taking drive. So if you forget something and need to run in for more groceries, it certainly isn't a chore! We soaked in the beauty of the drive. Aspen is about an hour away and is a great day trip. With young teens, we drove into Glenwood Springs (about an hour away) and did the hot springs and Adventure Park! Super fun! We would highly recommend this cabin for those who want to relax, get away from the hustle and bustle, and unwind and reunite with friends. Really can't say enough about this place! Pictures of the place are spot on (actually don't do it justice because it's really fantastic)! Highly recommend!!!! Enjoy your stay! God bless! Thanks again, Dan!

The cabin at Ruedi Shores is amazing and there is so much to do. We spent time fishing at the reservoir and did the hiked to Savage Lakes which is incredibly beautiful. This cabin really has everything and my daughter loved playing pool. We miss it already and will be back for sure.
