The Morton Family
About The Morton Family
Heath and I are brothers. Though 11 years apart, we are absolutely best friends. Along came two incredible and amazingly beautiful women, Rose and Jessica, that somehow agreed to marry us and changed our lives for the best! It's always been our dream to own a vacation home, but we really wanted a place that would allow us to bring our (large) family and friends. A place to create memories. Norris Lake felt like the perfect place. When the opportunity came for us to call a place on Norris "home", that's truly what we set out to do. This isn't just a "rental property". We've decorated (hopefully you like our style :) and provided amenities that we enjoy in our own full time homes, and hope that you enjoy and appreciate them as well! We truly hope that everyone that stays at Dock Holiday enjoys their stay and creates memories that they'll want to recreate year after year. -Tyler
The Morton Family purchased this Cabin in 2017
Why The Morton Family chose Lakeside Estates
We stayed at a home on this street for 3 years in a row and loved the location. You're in a quiet cove that's perfect for relaxing but only minutes away from the jumping bridge and Sugar Hollow Marina.
What makes this Cabin unique
We're constantly working to make this home incredible. We don't want this to be "another rental". We want this to be our home away from home and allow guests to enjoy the same amenities that we would want in a home.
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
Great house for a large group. Minor improvements needed
Overall, the house was great and serves us well. A couple minor issues when we arrived with needing more towels (cleaners left 12 towels for 20 ppl) and a broken toilet were quickly remedied by texting Tyler. Of note, they have a standalone small ice machine not mentioned in the listing which was very nice! The carpets throughout the house seemed newly installed and gorgeous. The only major issue, which unfortunately now they may be forced to fix due to a storm that hit the last night we were there and some existing rotten boards, is the dock. Some of the boards were warped and lifted, which was unsafe especially for our little ones. One of our guests actually fell thru a board just walking over it.
Our kids loved the slide, but the power to the dock was turned off or broken, so the water pump didn't work. Not a major deal but would have been nice. The ladder also has a broken/missing top rung which made it more challenging to get out of the water and a little unsafe, but that can be easily fixed with a new ladder installed.
It's not listed on the description, but the fire pit is gas, so no need to buy wood. We didn't know that so we got wood we didn't need, but just brought it home with us.
A weird thing that kept happening is we had to consistently flip the breaker for the upstairs bedrooms, the microwave and the dryer (lower level). The top level bedrooms also kept loosing power. We suspected it could be due to the room A/C units they have up there, but it didn't make sense for the dryer and microwave as everything is on a separate breaker. ?? We made sure not to overload the dryer and kept the lint cleaned out, so it was just odd.
There are several dehumidifiers around the house which is nice, but you need to empty them 2x a day if you want them to work. It was worth it to keep some moisture out of the house.
We used the kayak that came with the house a few times.
Overall, a very great location with updated appliances and lots of room. Just a few tweaks and this would be the perfect home! We couldn't have asked for more responsive owners - they were lovely!
Great memorial day weekend getaway!
I highly recommend coming to this property. Owners are great to work with and location is awesome!
Such an excellent time with family the House was great
Loved the stay, we had fun!
OMG so Perfect!
This was our first big trip with my family.
Let me tell you this house is amazing!
The owner is great to work with.
The house is big, clean, and a workout with the stairs but such fun!
I highly recomend you to stay here. If we could we would do it all over again!
We spent Christmas 2018 here and it was great! The wifi is not as strong and there is no service so before heading down the moutians let someone know.
But trust me being away from social media for a few days really is needed.
This house is amazing it has a hottub. Tv, boardgames, movies. You do need to take almost everything you will need for everyday use. Trash bags is a must, but there is a Walmart near by in the little town. Thank you so much for letting us stay here and for you all planning your trip... Have fun!!!!
Dock Holiday was awesome. We had a "FRAMILY" group of 15 adults ... Some couples, some singles .. And all were accommodated. We brought our own card table and folding chairs, and we were all able to enjoy our Thanksgiving meal at the same time. (Included are 9 chairs and 2 barstools.)
Would have been a 5 star except the lowest bedroom was effectively an unheated room, and pretty darned cold in late November.
We used all the space and both tv's and the hot tub and the outdoor fire ring.
In five days, we also enjoyed Knoxville: Market Square, a ropes course, and a play at the Clarence Brown Theater. Oh, and the east Tennessee museum of history and shopping on Gay street.
For more outdoor activity, we drove up to the Elk preserve in nearby Duff, TN. An interesting drive, a short hike, and at least 40 to 50 wild elk!
Last but not least, also in Duff, we drove up to Mt Mccloud restaurant. Truly a stunning location, and food's good, too! Note: reservations required because they are so remote.
All in all, a delightful and comfortable cabin in a beautiful, interesting place!!!
Private Gated Community, with swimming pool and private boat ramp.
