Our beautiful 1912 Craftsman, ideally located in the heart of North Berkeley, welcomes you! We recently built a spacious, light-filled, private apartment situated within our house - all on a dedicated level just for you. Thoughtfully equipped with all the comforts of home, our space is conveniently located near many of Berkeley’s amazing arts and cultural venues, the renowned Gourmet Ghetto, the UC Berkeley campus and scenic parks.

New apartment with garden views is conveniently located in North Berkeley’s Gourmet Ghetto. Spacious 800 sq ft private space with a private entrance opens onto a large private deck and lush backyard garden. Thoughtfully furnished spaces include a gourmet kitchen, designer bathroom, large main bedroom, second bedroom, dining, living room and deck spaces.

Apartment has an open floor plan with plenty of room to spread out. This modern Craftsman home is filled with light and has all the modern amenities. Sliding glass door opens to deck offering a true California indoor/outdoor experience.

The main bedroom is large, with new king bed and walk in closet. The second bedroom can be set up as a twin bed, two twin beds or a king bed. The second bedroom also has a closet. Included in the apartment is a full washer and dryer. All new designer bathroom with artfully tiled walk-in shower.

Large open living room with garden views has sectional couch seating for 5 with magazines, local activity guides, fast wifi internet access and large 40 inch screen TV with full cable channel selections.

The complete gourmet kitchen is newly equipped with stove, fridge, dishwasher, microwave, toaster oven, single cup coffeemaker, and more. It is a great space to prepare homemade meals while hanging out with family and friends in the open spaces. Dine inside at table for 4 or out on the deck. Shop locally at nearby Monterey Market, Cheeseboard Collective, Masse's Bakery and many other famous Berkeley gastronomic institutions!

In addition to the private apartment and deck, you are welcome to enjoy our back yard garden with seating areas, fountain, and variety of fruit trees.

Location: Perfectly located in a residential neighborhood in North Berkeley with many nearby places to explore. Easy walk to world-famous Gourmet Ghetto (Chez Panisse, Cheese Board Collective, Masse's Bakery, Saul's Deli) and other gourmet shops and restaurants, Monterey Market and Solano Avenue. One mile to UC Berkeley Campus and downtown Berkeley and BART. Public transportation steps away. Downtown Berkeley provides a vibrant foodie, music and theater scene with access to the entire region via BART. There are parks in all directions for play and for panoramic bay area views nearby.

Downtown Berkeley BART is one mile away. AC Transit bus stops are at our street corner. Easy biking and walking distance to downtown Berkeley, UC Berkeley Campus and many Berkeley attractions. Convenient available street parking.

Doing North Berkeley Just Right

Our stay at Thousand Oaks was excellent, comfortable, convenient, quite, and lovely. (When the fog lifted and we could see San Francisco from our deck). We had stayed at this place last year, too, and, despite a year’s use, it seemed to not have changed a bit. Every amenity worked well, the apartment is still lovely with a ‘leafy’ deck and peek-a boo look at the Bay. The owners were very responsive and accommodating. The location between Albany and and Walnut Square was perfect for us. It is a great place to stay in North Berkeley.

Beautiful Home Excellent Location

Wish we could give the property and its owners for than five stars. We had an excellent stay! The home is comfortable, garden is beautiful, great views of the sunset, well stocked kitchen ... really, Sarah and Joel have thought of everything, even plush robes! Easy walk to shopping and plenty of restaurants.

Super clean, bright and quiet. Located close to UC Berkeley. Fully equipped, frig, dishwasher, stove/oven, all the necessary amenities. Owners live upstairs which is convenient in case of problems; although we had none. Owners very nice and helpful. Would rent again without hesitation. Street parking occasionally difficult to find, but mostly was fine.

Ideal Location, Beautiful Apartment

This property has everything you could want for a perfect northern California vacation and then some. Beautifully appointed and comfortable accommodations, immaculately maintained. We just loved sitting on the deck, looking down at the garden and the bay beyond in the distance. Location, location, location! :) Street parking always close at hand. A short walk into Berkeley boasting a varied range of cuisine and restaurants for every taste and budget, shopping, etc. Easy access to public transportation (bus and BART train) into San Francisco and beyond. Day trips into the city were a breeze--and then we were happy to return here for some quiet. And the most delightful, engaging hosts one could hope for.

Loved our stay! Great location, very clean, comfortable, and Sarah was super helpful! Only minor downsides are you can hear some noises from above (like you would in any apartment) and once or twice we had to park several houses down the street, again very minor. The kitchen is well stocked and all new, and the beds are very comfortable. A Safeway grocery store is just a couple blocks away. We loved the Berkeley hills and all the wonderful parks near by as well. Indian Rock is a couple of blocks up the hill and the botanical gardens in Tilman Park were great. Easy access to the highway for getting anywhere in the Bay area. Thanks Sarah for having us, we loved your place!

Great Stay for Graduation in Berkeley

We stayed for 5 nights in the apartment and it was perfect for our gathering as a family. The owners, Sarah and Joel, are very friendly and have offered this retreat with everything one could ever possibly need. The space is very clean and there are some special touches throughout. We appreciated the informative instructions, well-planned spaces inside, and the beautiful garden views. It is an easy walk to the restaurants, grocery store, and even to the BART station downtown. We were able to catch shared rides easily from the location when we needed to go further. We highly recommend this apartment for stays in Berkeley as it is a very relaxing and comfortable space to stay.

Superb apartment and wonderful hosts

My wife and I stayed at the apartment for about a month, and loved it! Joel and Sarah proved to be outstanding hosts. They were always available, and when we had a question, they responded promptly. Aside from the formal aspect of being hosts, they are really nice people, and we would not hesitate to rent this property again. The apartment is very well furnished with new appliances and updates, and lots of natural light. The kitchen is fully stocked and you will not miss a thing. The bathroom has been completely remodeled. It''s location is perfect, with quick access to UC and grocery stores. The apartment looks over a beautiful garden (Sarah's work), and you can even get a glimpse of the bay and San Francisco from the deck. While there is no designated parking, we had absolutely no problems parking on the street, more often than not, right in front of the house. It was truly a pleasure to stay here. We have stayed in a number of Homeaway/VRBO houses and apartments, and this apartment and the owners are a notch above all. We are happy we had the opportunity to spend some time there, and when we come back, we hope we will be able to rent the place again.

Secluded, convenient retreat

We enjoyed our weeklong stay so very much. A completely remodeled in-law unit in the north Berkeley hills, this home away from home was perfectly located for easy walking to stores, restaurants, groceries, and coffee shops, with a spacious balcony overlooking a wooded neighborhood toward the bay. The street parking is easy and we found it always available. Best of all were our hosts, Sarah and Joel, who were friendly, available, and respectful of our privacy. We couldn’t be more pleased with our stay.
