About the property

Log/Farm House/Cabin, 2 Bedrooms w additional sleeping area downstairs, 1 Bath

What was it like to live in rural Pennsylvania over 100 years ago? Arriving at THE FARM HOUSE you see the old hand operated well pump and the fresh smell of trees and flowers with a welcoming double deck sleeping porch. As you approach the door you see the distinct axe marks scribed into the ageless hand hewn timbers, and the chinking skillfully placed between the logs. You enter through the kitchen door and immediately you are greeted with the old wood fired cook stove. Sitting at the kitchen table, cast iron cookware hang from nails driven into rough sawn beams, you can almost see and smell the cook preparing a big hearty farm family meal. Soon you find yourself almost living in another time and another age. At THE FARM HOUSE, you'll find it easy to visualize life over 100 years ago in Pennsylvania.

A few steps through the woods lead you to the pond. We invite you to stroll the grounds, explore the 100 acres, and enjoy the fresh country air. There is a picnic area with outside fire pit.

This is a totally solar powered home - off the grid.... Remember this a step back in time.... There is no air conditioning however there is a gas fireplace that keeps it warm and toasty on those chilly nights and days. SORRY, NO HAIR DRYERS, CURLING IRON etc. Only appliances provided may be used.....

Accommodations include a master bedroom with full size bed and a double bedroom with two full size beds. There is also a twin size bed in the living room which provides extra sleeping accommodations and seating. Weather permitting there is a second story sleeping porch with a comfortable double chaise sofa bed. One upstairs bathroom with shower.

Up to date modern kitchen with gas range/oven, refrigerator/freezer and microwave. All cookware, dishware and utensils are provided.

Winter snow and ice require an AWD/4-wheel drive vehicle

Because the Farm House is located on the back of the property and away from the Main House we ask that first time guests abide by the check in times of 4-6 pm so we are able to take you to the Farm House and show you how everything works and answer any questions. We will be unable to check in after 6 pm

Pillows, mattress covers, quilts and blankets are provided however, GUESTS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR PROVIDING THEIR OWN SHEETS, TOWELS, LINENS, ETC.

Fun family time in a lovely setting

  • 5 of 5

We spent the weekend with our daughter and her husband, along with their young boys, ages 3 and 5. We all enjoyed cooking over the campfire, sitting by the gas fireplace on a rainy night, fishing at the pond, and running cars and marbles down the wooden track that the owner's father made. It was good for us to be mindful of our use of electricity. The fall leaves were so beautiful, and we were truly in the middle of nowhere. We loved every minute and already rebooked to return.

BEAUTIFUL even our 11 year old enjoyed time away from electronics!!

BEAUTIFUL! We had the best time staying in the farm house. It is rustic but it had more than everything we needed. Even our 11 year old video game addicted son enjoyed the time away from the electronics. We were so comfortable we could have stayed in the house all day but with so much beautiful scenery we weren't about to miss out on the surroundings. Enjoying a campfire with smores was one of the highlights. Waking up in the morning to the sounds of the deer in the woods and enjoying coffee on the top deck was a nice way to start the day. We will definitely be back again and again!

I had the pleasure of staying with friends at the Farmhouse for one glorious night!! Not only is it restored to perfection, but it is tastefully and comfortably decorated with all the modern amenities at hand. The warmth of the gas fireplace will charm you as the serenity of the cabin and its surroundings soothes your soul. This is an extraordinary experience that no one should miss!

Great getaway close to home

  • 5 of 5

We had the pleasure of staying at the ole farmhouse. It was a wonderful experience. I felt as if I had gone back in time with all the authentic antiques and attention to detail everywhere I looked. This beautiful place made me feel as if I had stepped into an issue of Country Magazine and was living a dream. It has a country cozy feel and is so relaxing. You are miles away from everything and everyone and that is a part of its charm. If it had been a warmer part of the year I could picture us sitting outside at the fire ring and toasting marshmellows. I highly recommend this vacation home for your next getaway. You will truly love your stay and the Cramptons will make you feel as if their home is your home and you will leave wondering how soon you can return for your next vacation in the country.

We were lucky enough to see the Farmhouse transform into a relaxing get away. Waiting 2 years as Mike and Linda to finished restoring it, we fell in love with the Farmhouse from day one. In October we spent a weekend there-with all the fall colors.... WOW! Two weeks later I brought a girlfriend up for the weekend, and have already booked twice for this up coming year(2013). I would highly recommend The Farmhouse. Mike and Linda are wonderful, and Linda cooks an awesome breakfast!!!

The Farm House

  • 5 of 5

I had a great experience in the perfectly restored late 1800’s farm house deep in the wilderness of south-central Pennsylvania. I stayed there for a weekend in January and I experienced one delightful surprise after another. The dedication to detail added more to the total experience than I had imagined. The craftsmanship and time put into this restoration has created a masterpiece. This residence has all the modern conveniences surrounded with the authenticity of a late 1800’s farmhouse located on the old frontier wilderness of PA. There are many acres, trails and open fields to walk and explore. I especially liked sitting out on the upper deck in the evening covered in a heavy quilt with snow falling; it was like taking a trip back in time. I stayed in the master suite and I slept like a baby – it is so quiet and the residence is always comfortable. I loved sitting in the kitchen with friends. It reminded me of the farmhouse I grew up in except it was better than I remember – very nostalgic. This is a unique residence and one that I will return to for many years to come.
