Had a great Easter weekend with our family and grandchildren. The deck and fire pit are great outdoor spaces! And we enjoyed the main living area inside as well. The kitchen is a little tight, no dishwasher. The stairs from the main level to the basement are steep and narrow, more hazardous than expected. Everything worked OK, had hot showers and AC. Plenty of parking space but be prepared for all the trips up and down those outdoor stairs to haul in all your stuff - good workout for sure.

Nice place for a weekend visit

We came up for the weekend as a family. Cabin is nice and relatively well equipped. However neither of the grills worked, the ignitions were not functioning and the grills themselves were filthy. Also there were no pillowcases on the downstairs pillows - only shams which didn’t appear like they were regularly washed.

Glad you had a nice stay and felt that the cabin was well equipped. I appreciate your feedback. I wish you had contacted me during your stay so I could have addressed your concerns with the grills, and helped you troubleshoot. I had the cleaners check the grills after your visit and they informed me that both are working properly. As for the pillowcases, I can assure you all bedding is washed and rotated between guests.

Zero Stars — Misleading, Filthy, Unsafe, and Still No RefundI would give this property zero stars if I could. My daughter and I left within an hour of arriving, and I’ve been fighting for a partial refund ever since—with no response and no resolution. The house was absolutely filthy. Dead mosquitoes lined the perimeter of the second floor and loft. The first-floor bathroom had dead flies. Dust and dirt covered nearly every surface. It was clear the property hadn’t been cleaned properly, if at all. I documented everything with photos. The listing was blatantly misleading. It was advertised as a “lake house” with “lake view,” “lake access,” and “boat ramp access.” In reality, the lake was tiny, not visible from the house, and the boat ramp was five minutes down the road. You’d have to walk nearly two miles to even glimpse the water. This was false advertising, plain and simple.Safety was another major concern. The house was isolated in a mountainous area surrounded by rundown homes. As we unloaded our luggage, neighbors stared us down, and the adjacent property had several aggressive Rottweilers barking nonstop. It was unsettling and felt anything but safe—especially for just my daughter and me.To make matters worse, the driveway had a large ditch that made it impossible to drive up to the house. We had no choice but to park at the bottom of the hill and haul our luggage up a long, steep incline just to reach the front door—only to turn around and leave an hour later.

We’re very sorry to hear that this guest’s experience did not meet expectations. However, several key details in this review are inaccurate and do not reflect the condition of our property or the facts surrounding their stay. This reservation was a same-day booking, which required special approval through Vrbo. Approximately two hours after check-in, a woman (not the guest listed on the reservation) contacted me expressing concern about seeing a police car in the neighborhood. I reassured her that this is a quiet, safe residential area and advised her to contact Vrbo directly if she wished to cancel. Shortly afterward, she mentioned cleanliness concerns. I immediately offered to have our professional cleaning team return to address any issues—an offer she declined. Despite the claim in this review that they “left within an hour,” Vrbo’s message records confirm that the guest stayed overnight and departed the following morning. Regarding the listing details: The lake description is fully accurate. The listing notes a “seasonal lake view” and that “boat ramp with parking area less than a mile from the house.” Center Hill Lake is over 18,000 acres in size and easily accessible from the neighborhood. The driveway and parking information are also transparently stated: “Street parking is available. Driveway parking requires a 4-wheel drive vehicle.” The home is professionally cleaned prior to every stay, and we take cleanliness and guest safety very seriously. While we regret that this guest did not enjoy their stay, we have taken every reasonable step to communicate clearly, respond promptly, and maintain an accurate and welcoming listing for all future guests.
