About Lianne Girard
I live on the coast of Massachusetts, USA.
Lianne Girard purchased this House in 2005
Why Lianne Girard chose Tibbett's Turn
When chance brought me here in 1996, I had never heard of Cayman Brac. With it's slow island pace, friendly locals, and lack of chain stores, I fell for it and kept coming back. It feels like you are back in time. The Brac is a very special place. See for yourself.
What makes this House unique
The Cayman island are the safest islands in the Caribbean.

A magical place, has everything you need.
This was our first visit to Cayman Brac and we had no idea what to expect. The property manager Jesse met us right at the airport and we followed him in our rental car to Wash a Shore. We were instantly impressed-not only is the place immaculate, but it feels just like home (except for all the conch shells and palm trees!). We spent the week rock climbing, so it was wonderful to have a place to cook, prepare meals to go, and to use as a base camp for our adventures. The outdoor shower is great. Every amenity you need inside, including washer dryer detergent and dishwasher! Lianne has decorated the place beautifully and her gorgeous paintings and decor really made this a special place. There was even basic food items like tea, coffee filters, water bottles, beach bags, beachtowels, salt oil and spices, and more -- so we didn't have to purchase everything on the island in order to be totally comfortable. Apple TV was a major plus-easy to use the Netflix. Loved all the books, magazines, and local treasures. The AC worked very well-we never needed to leave it on during the day we just flipped it on in the evening and the place would instantly cool down. Plenty of ceiling fans and windows. A beautiful, homey place inside and out. When we return to the Brac, we will be staying here again . Thank you Jesse and Lianne for an amazing week-this place is the best!!!
Perfect stay !
Wash-a-shore is. Fine place to stay on this very quiet and relaxing tropical island. We had everything we needed to make our stay nice mdr comfy: well stocked kitchen, Wifi to boot, King size bed, large bathroom. The house is on the middle on the north shore road and access to amenities is simple with a car. I would recommend this place to anyone!
Spacious and fun!
We had such a great time at Wash-A-Shore. The house was spacious and clean and had everything we needed to have a great time. The kitchen was fully equipped, and everything about the house was so comfortable. Cayman Brac is so small, you really are close to everything. Rent a car or a bike if you're feeling especially athletic. The Brac does not really have sandy beaches but has beautiful waters and reefs, especially great for snorkeling and diving. And we did some hiking. Overall, great stay at Wash-A-Shore.
Charming comfortable accommodation on Brac
As other reviewers have stated, this home is as pictured; it is spacious, comfortable, colourful and clean. We did not use the A/C as we found the fans adequate. We did use the beach chairs to sit out at the back of the house to read in the shade, watch the birds and enjoy the pleasant breeze on many afternoons. We also enjoyed using the outside shower. There was plenty of hot water.
The location is an excellent base from which to explore Cayman Brac with all of its attractions. Within easy walking distance are both a small grocery store which carries essentials and a liquor store. Further east is Pioneer Bakery, a great place to pick up meat patties and other baked goods. Lianne, owner of Wash-a-Shore, had a bakery schedule available. The bakery is in the same turn-off as the police station and the Blue Breeze Cafe. On the up-hill side of the Blue Breeze Cafe, and adjoining it, is the tiny humane society thrift shop where, among an assortment of items, you will find a selection of used books.
If you stop at NIM (Native Island Made), in Spot Bay, allow up to a couple of hours. You don't need that for shopping, which will take only a few minutes, but to listen to Mr. Tenson Scott's stories: a real learning experience! (Truly local postcards available too, produced by his artist daughter, Simone.)
A couple of reviewers commented on the crowing roosters. There aren't many places in the Caribbean where a rooster chorus is not present outside of resort areas. We did not mind eavesdropping on their conversations or watching them take dust baths in the backyard after the slightest shower. As shown in the photos, Wash-a-Shore does front the road so we did expect that there would be some traffic. We were, however, somewhat surprised by the amount of traffic, especially on barge arrival days. Nonetheless, that traffic was welcome as it meant there would be fresh produce and cooler items in the shops. Evenings were generally quiet.
We can recommend Wash-a-Shore as a very comfortable, affordable accommodation on Cayman Brac.
The property/house is larger than it appears. It is comfortable, quiet, ample.
Highly recommend this rental. The owner thought of everything. We are coming back. It's a treasure!
Cayman Brac and Lianne's place will not disappoint.
Unless, you expect sandy beaches and water front property. If you do, go to another island. Lianne's beautiful island home was designed with artistic sensibility, colors and details that let you know you have landed some place special. Your island is studded with shoreline snorkling sites you step into from a ladder, no boat needed. Groceries are nearby, Patty, the property manager, is smart and helpful...There if you need her to help you figure out the Apple TV or advise on the best snorkling. The kitchen is great and the furniture is all comfortable. We loved it! You need a car, but the folks you rent from meet you at the airport and Patty leads you to paradise.
You will be on the North side of the island, where the coral and fish live, so enjoy.
