Extraordinary riverfront home in the heart of the Big Hole Valley.
The Trout House is 2 short miles from the quaint town of Wise River. As seen in my photos, there are 3 delightful bedrooms - 2 king bedrooms (Master has a fireplace, en-suite and balcony with a river view) upstairs and one accessible Queen bedroom downstairs. There is also a Trundle bed (2 twins) in a common area upstairs that is more open and a queen sofa sleeper in the sunroom downstairs. This spacious, enchanting house also features 3 bathrooms with luxurious amenities like a bidet and jetted bathtub. The open concept kitchen allows everyone to gather in the living room, dining room and sunroom comfortably without feeling closed off or crowded. Off of the dining room through the French doors, sits a large, cozy screened in porch with ample seating, a Blackstone grill + a gas fireplace. The porch is just steps away from the river, and if you want to know what they are biting on, the people floating by will be happy to tell you. Make your holiday one for the books with a stay at our place, you will never forget the experience! There are gorgeous views of the river and mountains in almost every room in the house!

About the host
Hosted by Rene Baustadt
I’ve been hosting off and on for 15 years and have really enjoyed meeting people from around the world and improving guest experience with each stay. I take great pride in providing a clean, cozy, luxurious house that satisfies every need that I would expect in a vacation rental myself. I was born in Livingston MT, raised in Anaconda MT and have lived the ranch life outside of Butte for the last 20 years. We run Black Angus cattle at the ranch the Trout house sits on and enjoy staying there with our family every chance we get. We have worked, floated, fished, explored and hunted this area for more years than I can count and look forward to many more. I have a deep love for fishing and appreciation for all the wildlife and birds that I can see from the windows of the house while I’m sipping my morning coffee!
Why they chose this property
We chose this area for the ranching opportunities first and for our own enjoyment second and it has been a great balance for us.
What makes this property unique
The Trout House is unique because you have a beautiful view from almost every window in the house and it sits just 25 yards from the river. We can actually launch and dock our boats from our front yard! I love the 2 rock fireplaces in the house and the screened in porch in the summer months. The Master Bedroom is oversized, with one of the 2 fireplaces and a balcony with a view to die for. You can have large groups (we have big families) and the house never seems crowded as there are several places to sit, relax and visit. You probably won’t find a better location to stay on the Big Hole river as we are just down the road from Wise River, outstanding entertainment, the road to Crystal Park, Elkhorn Hot Springs and miles of snowmobiling and acres of big game hunting and literally “feet” from Blue Ribbon fishing!
