Overview

About the property

Spacious Lakeview Suite That Can Sleep 2 To 4 Guests

"2017 BEST VRBO PROPERTY"

A VRBO member for only 5 years, this well appointed suite has 136 reviews, more than any other property over the same time period. Before you even go inside you realize this place is special. The custom deck offers an exquisite hot tub, in which you can star gaze through the sky portal in the deck above. Two tables for four present different perspectives of the forest below, and another on the upper deck gives you a heavenly view of the lake and the mountains beyond. All sorts of song birds are busy coming and going from the hanging bird feeder that seems to be floating in space. And everywhere you look is another potted or hanging plant. You will be impressed before you ever go inside.

Jack will walk you through the suite to explain the amenities and features, starting with a king bedroom with a comfy leather love seat, flat screen TV, and even a "white noise" fan for those who require it. The coffee corner is separate from either bedroom, and serves as a place to sit and talk while enjoying the art work. The adjoining hall displays four original drawings of St. Louis classics, and includes a 1906 photo of the original Farris wheel at the worlds fair.

The bathroom is efficient and exceptionally clean, with soft bath towels. But you don't have to use your bath towel for the hot tub, a nice big beach towel is provided. Of course extra toilet paper, bar soap, hair drier and even an iron come with the bath.

The kitchenette is just that, providing conveniences such as a choice of paper bowls and plates or glass bowls and plates. Plastic knives and forks or stainless, your choice. Great coffee cups, the kind that hold enough coffee so you can sit outside on the deck and wake up slowly. The microwave sits atop the small refrigerator that has three ice trays, and next to it is a tidy bar sink. Then there is a toaster, some complementary coffee (not packets), and the coffee maker (filters included). Eureka Springs which is only 15 minutes away, has some 50 restaurants and Jack will provide you with his list of some of the best, including their addresses and phone numbers making it easy to assure seating. The suites kitchenette is designed to warm up the goodies you bring back, not for full blown cooking in the suite, so leave your hot plate or portable surface grill at home please. However there is a charcoal grill on the deck where you can grille a steak or maybe some burgers.

The queen bedroom has a glass table with two chairs, an arm chair and of course the flat screen TV and "white noise" fan. Everything about this suite is class, from the antique brass lamp to the marble night table. I got the feeling of elegance when I went through for the first time and I think you will too. Special little things like literature on Eureka Springs and Beaver Lake, the most comfortable bed I've slept in, and the quiet, private, relaxing setting make this property #1.

The hot tub is an option; You can choose not to use it, or you can pay a deposit of $50 that you get back if you follow the hot tub rules and return it in the same condition as when you arrived.

This property is popular for honeymoons, anniversaries, families, and for a girls weekend get-a-way. If relaxing, quiet comfort is what you are looking for, this is the place.

Reservations should be made well in advance to guarantee the dates you desire.

FOR A SPECIAL TREAT. Jack does a private tour that lasts about an hour and a half, during which you will hear and see things that you otherwise would never see or hear. It's really special because you get to go down inside one of the original healing springs, go to the top of the Crescent (the most haunted hotel in America), and go across the only wooden suspension bridge in the State of Arkansas. The $50 fee covers everyone in the suite.

Jacks place offers guests the opportunity to experience a lifestyle Jack does everyday, that is a far cry from a motel or hotel. Anxious to help, Jack will join in and visit with you if you wish, but is very aware of your privacy needs. It's another world at Jacks place, and I wouldn't miss it for the world if I were you.

About Jack Cross

I stumbled onto Eureka Springs in 1971, and just as you probably will, I fell in Love. My former wife and I started out with a juice bar, then a restaurant, then a shop. I currently sell real estate, design and build custom homes, have a custom deck company, and market a couple of self invented products. But all that is just a sideline. Eureka Springs is not about money, it's about lifestyle. What I really do, is enjoy life. My social life and businesses, my church, these magical Ozark hills, hiking and exploring, boating, fishing, and swimming off my dock. I love meeting people, and look forward to meeting you. However I will not intrude upon your privacy, you can have my company at your will.

Jack Cross purchased this house in 2005

Why Jack Cross chose Eureka Springs

I live in paradise. I lived in town for 14 years and enjoyed it, but living on the lake is unbeatable. Fortunately it's only a few minutes from town and all on paved roads. There is something about living with the woods all around you and a huge body of water in site. The quiet, the peacefulness, and the feeling of being in control of your life is exemplary. You are invited to see what I mean.

What makes this house unique

I chose my house because it is on the end of a ridge road with a great view of the lake. I spend a great deal of time on the decks I added, and even grow vegetables on them in the summer. My nearest neighbors homes are both vacation homes, so I rarely see them. But when I do, they are always so happy to be back to paradise.

Totally amazing place to stay.

  • 5 of 5

My boyfriend and I went here for our 2nd anniversary. It was perfect. The home is beautifully decorated with art from local artist from Eureka Springs and other pieces from the owners worldly travels. It was immaculate and the view from the deck with the hot tub was breathtaking. The stars at night and Beaver Lake in the sunrise and sunset from the bistro chairs and tables on the beautiful large deck was always a welcome calming sight. We had a sliding glass door to our portion of the deck which allowed for opening the windows and drinking coffee in bed and watching the boats on the lake. So serene. We went to town and got steaks for 3 nights because it has a grill, which was wonderful. It has a kitchen with a microwave so we just threw in some steamable veggies and had a fab dinner on the deck under the stars. I can't say enough of how this was a home away from home and even better place to stay. The owner Jack is awesome and he took us on a tour of the historic city which we would never have seen on our own. He has lived there many many years and knows the hot spots and history behind this fun amazing town. We definitely recommend getting Jack to take you on the "tour" for a nominal fee. It's something you will never forget. Since we had never been to Arkansas we asked him what to do and see and he was a so helpful with restaurants and must see things to do. I did notice there are literally hundreds of places to stay in the area, but none were as inviting or as beautiful as we were so lucky to have picked. I'm taking my 14 yr. old there this summer and can't wait to fish Beaver Lake and see our fun Host again. We highly recommend this getaway.

Great value and neat host!

  • 5 of 5

This 2 bedroom apartment with a beautiful deck was perfect for us! The location is close to a marina on Beaver Lake and about 15 minutes drive from Eureka Springs. There are deer hanging around the yard and cool birds and chipmunks too!

The host, Jack is a character with lots of interesting information to share about the area, which he obviously loves!

He gave us great tips about fishing and a nice list of restaurants and sites to visit!

Quiet, spacious, relaxing, just what the doctor ordered

  • 5 of 5

1st thoughts? Wow! Nice place. Jack arrived shortly after us as he was coming in from another area. We met and he layed everything out for us. He does live in the upstairs and has a very friendly k-9, even the k-9 greeted us with was great as we were already missing ours at home. He stayed that night but was gone very early in the am. So great privacy. He popped in from time to time but I’m guessing he is a very busy man. The hot tub was great and clean and he used all natural chemicals. We saw plenty of dear and other critters as well which we enjoy. The temp of the suite is controlled by upper unit but was perfect for my wife and I. Would recommend as long as u are already aware of the living situation. Would recommend and will likely be back. Btw. The Starkey Marina and boat ramp are about 5-7 minute drive if u bring a boat. And jack has a fairly long but steep gravel driveway that fit our 22’ boat and truck. His number one rule is have fun. Very informative and great to conversate with ! Thank u jack. 😃?

Owner's Response: Wow what a nice review, thank you Eric. Actually I don't live in the building, but I live just 5 minutes away. Usually when my guests go to town or out on the lake, I like to check the hot tub chemicals to keep my guests safe and comfortable, and as with Eric I came over and used my leaf blower to clear storm debris after there were two storms during their visit. Eric and his wife liked to visit and invited me to come over and visit on the deck one evening where I got to share some Eureka Springs stories with them. Some guests want to know more about Eureka Springs and it's history, but others prefer total privacy. I try to be sensitive to my guests needs, and privacy is my most important feature thus I never just pop in unannounced on my guests. So now check out some of my more than 150 reviews and then come enjoy a visit to my little paradise. Jack

Eureka Springs is a magical hidden jewel located in the Ozark mountains, the oldest mountain range in America. It is not unusual to see a bald eagle, or a wild turkey, a red fox, or deer prancing around everywhere. Your host (Jack) can direct you to some great hiking.

Our latest Eureka Springs feature is the new 'zip line' just opened March first. Turpentine Creek Animal Park features lions, tigers, and bears.....'Oh My!' There is Pivot Rock, Lake Lucerne (where Al Capone had a hideout), the steam engine train with dinner car, the Great Passion Play, Lake Leatherwood, and countless others. The only thing we don't have right now, is you. But you can change that. Your host, Jack Cross, has been in the area for more than 40 years, and is a wealth of helpful information. His guest suite is just around the corner from Starkey Marina where you can rent boats, buy pizza and beer, or BBQ at the free pavilion. Jack knows where to fish for bass, catfish, crappie, or trout, all right around the corner. If you desire a personal tour of the area and Eureka Springs, with historical information from a great story teller, at a nominal charge, just ask Jack.
