This Queen Anne cottage in Oregon's Ochoco Valley, built in the early 1900s, has a rich history in the sheep and wool industry. Built by Thomas H. Lafollette and Margaret J. Allen, the house was passed down through generations. After Hazel Sullivan's passing, the house fell into disrepair. A recent restoration has revitalized it, addressing foundation issues, lead paint remediation, and restoring original features. The updated living space blends the past with the present.

On December 12, 1912 my Grandma Anna (1885-1977) left her small town in Southern Poland near Kracjow with her two year old Daughter, Mary (1909-2006) aboard a German boat. Anna and Mary rode in steerage. They arrived at Ellis Island on Christmas Eve and caught a train across Canada to Banff, Alberta riding in the cheapest seats to meet her husband, Joseph at his mining camp. Anna had never before left her town, only spoke Polish and had a small child as her only companion, but she never whined or cried or looked to others to care for her.

Later on the family moved to Prineville, Oregon and I still have a lot of family in Prineville today. I've been a District Attorney and later a divorce attorney in Portland, Oregon since 1973. I have multiple vintage properties in downtown Prineville that I’ve decorated in ways that are fitting to the time the homes were built.

Why they chose this property

Its is only a couple houses down the street from my father's former home which is now our main home and office. We call it the big house. It is quite literally right downtown in Prineville, Oregon. Easy to get to and then easy to get to where you want to go to for fun.

What makes this property unique

I love decorating and I've kept the 1890s home vibe while including modern amenities. The bedding is as comfortable as it can be yet looks like its from 1900. The kitchen has a breakfast nook adjacent but its really a card table. Have fun and relax.
