This is an amazing house with a ton of features. It is a 2 bedroom 2.5 bath 1900sq foot house that was built in 2012. The kitchen features thick rough cut granite throughout, matching stainless steel GE appliances and a gorgeous gas range. The kitchen table can sit up to 10 people with 6 chairs and a bench with the table extension installed. 3 comfortable bar stools sit next to the island which can swivel around to watch TV if you have a big crowd. A small half bathroom sits next to the entry way next to the coat closet. The laundry room contains a Whirlpool Washer/Dryer combo with 2 Roll away beds that can accommodate one adult each. All in all, this house sleeps 12 adults comfortably. As you go into the back yard, you are greeted by a built in natural gas grill and a breathtaking view of Moab. 20 feet behind the house is a huge Red Rock that looks like it was hand picked for mountain biking or Rock crawling. As you walk up the red rock you are treated to a panoramic view of Moab, and the nearby golf course. This house is relaxing, modern, up to date, well planned and well executed. It is a perfect retreat for large family or medium sized group after a long day playing in the sun.

About Clay Johnsen

I am a 33 year old Podiatrist with a big family and a love for the outdoors. I currently live in Seattle and work as a sports medicine podiatrist. I graduated from College at BYU, and went to Med School in New York, and completed my training for residency in southern California. I come from a big family of 7 kids, 5 boys, 2 girls and we all get along famously. I have been taking a trip to Moab every year for the Last 10 years with my family and best friends and finally decided Moab wasn't just a phase it was something I wanted to be around long term, so I took the plunge

Clay Johnsen purchased this house in 2013

Why Clay Johnsen chose Moab

When searching various properties in the Moab area with a few of my best friends, when we got to this house, we all said 'I'll do just about anything to get this house' or some version of that. It is a really cool house, with a really open relaxing vibe. I use it for a group of 12 or so of my best friends to hang out at a few times a year, and we can't get enough of it. I loved everything about this property from the moment I saw it. It is located in a residential neighborhood, and there are a lot of families around. For me this was exactly what I was looking for as well. There isn't loud music or crazy parties happening nearby. It's just a chill place to go after you have exhausted yourself in Moab.

What makes this house unique

My favorite thing about this house is probably the big rock outside in the back yard. Going back there and star gazing on a clear night is amazing. Sitting on the rock and looking around at everything in the middle of the day is just as fun. I have to say, even though I am not much of a chef, I love the kitchen. It is open, spacious, and really modern. Everything is as it should be. The kitchen/living room area is huge, and everyone can hang out in there at the same time without feeling cramped one bit. I also love the gas fireplace. All you have to do is flick a switch and it turns on. It is the coolest feeling in the world. I need to get one for my house in Seattle.

Comfortable home to come back to after adventuring all day!

  • 4 of 5

We really loved our stay at this beautiful home. The layout and amenities were just what we needed after spending all day playing in Moab. Our kids had a blast chasing and catching the tiny lizards around the yard, and the outside patio and fire pit were utilized daily for some quiet relaxation! The neighborhood is nice and quiet with not much road traffic (great for our small kids playing!) and there was more than enough parking available for our truck, Jeep and trailer.

My only complaints (and they are MINOR) would be the cleanliness of the home when we first arrived was not great. The floor had not been swept (lots of chip crumbs in the corners) or mopped (something sticky in the entry way)...but I just did a quick clean and it was as good as new. Also, the towels were all clean, but were just heaped in a pile in the laundry room. Again, not a big deal...but it would have been nice if I didn't have to fold and put away laundry after driving for 16 hours. Finally, the kitchen could use some new pans. They are getting pretty worn out. Otherwise, the kitchen was fully stocked with everything we could possibly need, the beds were very comfortable, and having the full size laundry was awesome. Also.....Clay is a very responsive owner and was really nice to work with.

Clay, we hope you continue to offer your home as a VRBO rental because WE WANT TO COME BACK!

Wonderful home with large open rooms

  • 5 of 5

Recently stayed here and fell in love with the master suite. I was surprised at how comfortable the master bed is, the shower was awesome, the whole thing has a great cozy feel. Loved the open kitchen dining and living room. Back yard fire pit was a great treat in the cooler evening. Clay was great to work with and responsive to questions. Already look forward to staying there again.

Well-appointed, beautiful home!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in the house for a month and it was fantastic to have a place to come home to, make dinner, and relax after adventuring all day. As a couple, we didn't use many of the amenities like the extra bunk room and cots, but we loved having a full kitchen, great tv system, and full sized washer and dryer. Clay was responsive to emails. Great stay! Thanks!

Beautiful, Comfortable, Awesome!

  • 5 of 5

We had such a great time here! No one wanted to leave. The house was beautiful and had everything we needed. It was a great location for home base. Bedrooms were very luxurious, clean, comfortable. The kitchen was gorgeous and right in the middle of all the activity. Great for the mom preparing dinner! There was plenty of room to stretch out and relax after a full day of hiking, biking, repelling etc. I would highly recommend staying here and would definitely come back. Thanks for making our vacation so great!

Great Place

  • 5 of 5

Very relaxing stay. I have stayed in many places in Moab, by far this is the place that most feels like home. I would stay again, and recommend it to others.

Beautiful property, great views and great location!

  • 4 of 5

Would definitely recommend. Of course there are a few things the owner could do to improve it but overall highly recommend it. The most important would be to simplify the TV system.. Great set up but hard to get any of it to work properly with 4 remotes. Of course you don't visit Moab to watch TV but its a great outlet in the evening when all is so quiet.
