This log cabin is located at the base of the mountains and opens onto the prairies. Beautiful skies and sunrises are at the front. Step off the back deck onto the mountain. Situated on 12 acres, it has an open and sunny yard with lots to explore onsite.
The interior décor is retro with 1960's references. It is quaint, cozy and very comfortable with 4 easy chairs and a couch in the great room. Vaulted ceilings, log walls, and 2 loft bedrooms add further character. Internet & Wifi connections are excellent.
There is a deck outside the back door, lawn chairs & BBQ. Onsite is campfire pit, horseshoe pit, a heritage barn and acres of wildflowers and saskatoon berries. The hillside is treed with aspens, pine and spruce. The area is renowned for its trout fishing and the river is within a 15 minute walk. There are several small lakes close by that have swimming and picnic sites, hiking & biking trails.

We live and work in Calgary and this unique log house has been our favourite year round retreat for the past 12 years. We have had many guests, artists, writers & musicians who have asked if they could take their holidays here so we are sharing it, as we currently are not using it full time.
Barbara and Wayne purchased this cabin in 2005
This place was my studio for many years. I am an artist. The surrounding countryside is spectacular. The 2 hour drive from Calgary is easy and beautiful. This is a wildlife corridor and yet there is easy access to the property. It is quiet, private, cozy and comfortable. There is something really special and fulfilling about this house and the 12 acres around it.
The large windows provide a feeling of being outside with all the comforts of home. The wood walls and vaulted ceilings offer wonderful acoustics.
Old buildings and the unique landscape create a visual experience at the door. There's room to play right on site. In June & July the wildflowers fill the meadows in the front; Summer is sweet, the fall hikes are spectacular and in the winter it is a cosy retreat close to winter sport facilities.
Bluebird Cabin's rustic charm was the perfect home away from home for our two week holiday. The online photos and description of the property represent it exactly as it is. Gorgeous views from every window, excellent location close to Crowsnest Pass communities, historic sites and awesome fishing/plein air painting/photography spots! Yes, there were lots of bluebirds and many other varieties of winged friends but the morning, noon and night visits from the hummingbirds were our favourites. We would definitely stay at this log home again and recommend it to anyone wanting to explore the beauty of the landscape of the area.
Our stay at the Bluebird Cabin this summer was a wonderful experience. My husband and I, along with my 12 year old son and his friend spent a week there recently and we were so very pleased with our trip from start to finish. The cabin itself is charming, comfortable, cozy, and equipped with quite literally everything we could have needed. We also thoroughly enjoyed exploring the grounds...and as a bit of a photography nut...I was in my glory! Having spent many summers in the Crowsnest Pass, it was a treat to have such a wonderful landing place to call "home" for a week while we showed the kids around to all my favorite spots in the area. The cabin is very aptly named, for if you're a bird-lover - this is the spot for you. We were greeted nearly every morning by dozens of birds...including bluebirds. We also had wild turkeys stop by for a visit and many deer wander through the lot. The owners of the property were very kind and their hospitality most appreciated. We'd very much like to return someday soon, and will bring the only thing missing...a couple of other family members to share it with :)
What a cozy place to unwind! Big windows, sunshine pouring in and everything you need. The owners are true to their word and helpful. The photos don't do it justice. There were 4 of us, two couples and we are thinking of coming back for a summer holiday.
Great location base for a fly fishing trip -- quick access to numerous rivers. Cabin was very clean and comfortable and Barbara and Wayne were very helpful with various items that we needed for the trip. Tap water tasted great (a property we rented in the area the year before had very sulphur-smelling water requiring us to use bottled water). We cooked breakfast and dinner every day and always had everything we needed (pots, pans, utensils etc.). When outside in the evening there were no mosquitoes -- in mid-August! All in all made for a pleasant, comfortable stay without surprises or annoyances.
Easter weekend was fantastic. Exceptional friends, food, wine, song and adventure. The kitchen was clean and well-equipped, everything was in good working order in the house, beds were comfortable and it has a cozy atmosphere. It is located within easy walking or driving distance to a number of locations which made for awe-inspiring photography. The owners are friendly and have obvious pride of ownership with the grounds also being well-maintained. I am liking forward to the next visit. So is my ukulele.
This was an amazing holiday!! The cabin is lovely, plenty of room for the 5 of us. We went to Castle mountain and Fernie sking, both very close. It was easy to find and very clean and above our expectations. Definitely somewhere we would go to again. So glad I found this cabin, lots of places to go to. Nice little shops around to check out.
