About Renee Gayheart

My Mom and I live near the University of Cincinnati Ohio. We have a beautiful house with a beautiful garden. I graduated from St. Bernard Elmwood Place High School, and The University of Cincinnati. My Mom graduated from Our Lady of Angels.

Renee Gayheart purchased this cottage in 2000

Why Renee Gayheart chose Lake Cumberland

We stayed in a friends house for Mother's day, and our friend said 'He was building a handicapped accessible house that would be perfect for me. We stayed in the house one time, and I said 'If you ever decide to sell the house let me know.' He called two weeks later and asked me if I would like the house. My Mom and I were so excited and we bought it and have been so happy ever since.

What makes this cottage unique

I am in a wheelchair and the house is truly made for people in wheelchairs. The house is very open so I can get around very easy.

Beds falling apart feet sticking to floor

  • 1 of 5

The rental has 2 bedrooms with bed frames that are ready to fall in on you. You have to sleep at the foot of the bed just to keep your head up hill. The carpets are so sticky you have to keep your shoes on and everything in the house felt like it was wet. There is only parking for 2 cars back to back and no room for a boat which would have been nice to know up front instead it cost an extra $90.00 to keep my boat the Marina. The rental is not part of the rest of the complex which is hard to tell kids who see pools & play sets that they aren't allowed to use because the rental is not part of the association. This is very apparent when you speak with the people around you. You have no chemicals or test strips to maintain the hot tub so no way to know if its safe or not. The master bedroom has pocket doors and are almost impossible to open or close without help form someone on the other side to help center the door up. Cottage could be a nice if someone put any effort into making it so.

Owner's Response: There is nothing wrong with the bed frames. I have slept in the beds myself, and I feel very confident that the bed is strong. I am paralyzed, and if I didn't feel secure in the bed I surely would not have my guest sleeping on an unsafe bed. I am not sure what the reviewer is talking about when he said "That you have to sleep at the foot of the bed." But I had the house keeper check the bed, and she also said "That nothing was wrong with the beds." As far as the floor feeling sticky the house has carpet in the entire house except the kitchen, and the bathroom. And we had the carpet shampooed before the guest arrived, and the house keeper sweeps, and mops the tile every time someone checks out. The parking is limited, but there is enough room for parking if you park your cars the way I instruct you too! I tell all of my guests in the rental agreement that I don't have room for parking boats ahead of time. I also tell people, and put it into the rental agreement that my house is self contained. And that I am not apart of the resort. Which means my guest can only use the facilities in the back of the house. I have my own play set right outside the back door, and a fire pit, and corn hole set. The hot tub is maintained by the house keeper before the guest arrives. I am able to charge a lower rate per night because I am not apart of the resort. And most of my guest a very happy with the house, and all of the things I supply for them to have a wonderful vacation. Most of the issues this man had were because he did not read the rental agreement before he booked the house. And he did not ask me any questions. I always tell my guests that they can contact me at any time with any questions. Please read the other reviews, and see what other guests have said about the house.

Fantastic

We had a wonderful stay here. Just making memories with my family. Loved the fact that it was pet friendly, as it is very hard to find a place that is. Enjoyed visiting local attractions and the lake was beautiful. Thank you Renee.

Owner's Response: Thank you Ellen for the wonderful review. It means so much to us that our guest are happy. We work very hard to keep the cottage in tip top condition. And we try to anticipate the things at the Cottage that will make your stay as close to perfect as we can. We hope to see you again next year. Or again this summer.

Beautiful property close to the marina

  • 4 of 5

We rented this house over the Labor Day weekend, with another couple and their two young girls. The directions provided by Renee were spot on. No trouble getting to the place or getting in. Parking is pretty much limited to two vehicles. And it is located within 5 minutes to Conley Bottom marina. The neighborhood is very nice and quiet.

The house was clean, with clean linens and bath towels provided. The kitchen had just about everything you would need for cooking and even has a dishwasher. The AC worked great. The handicap ramps were awesome for hauling the coolers.

What we did need but did not take was extra toilet paper and paper towels, soap and shampoo. These may have been noted in what was provided but honestly i just skimmed over the list, noting that the linens were provided. (I have a second trip book soon to another Homeaway home and I think i got confused between what is provided at one home and this one.) Also there was only one dish towel and a scrubber, no dish cloths. Next time I will pack these items.

We did not use the hottub, but noticed it was only half full.

I would defintitly stay here again, and i would recommend this property to firends and family!

Nice place, well kept

  • 4 of 5

Everything thing we needed was there, and it was nice to not collect linens for the trip. The hot tub was great, the marina was close, the kitchen was well stocked. When we got there, we were surprised to see a tennis court, basketball hoop, sand volleyball court, pool, and community grill and play area basically in the front yard. We were soon informed that we did not have access to these areas. That is a shame. Although, the cornhole set on the back deck is much nicer!
