Coconut Bay Resort is in close proximity to Seven Mile Beach (1.5 miles). The resort offers amazing shore diving with tanks available 24/7. It is a small complex of 26 condos set amid lush tropical gardens at the edge of the Caribbean Sea. Access to two large heated pools with gazeboes give you the best sunsets on the island. Cayman Dream Condo is a spacious end unit with over 2300 square feet and extra windows on each floor! Three bedrooms and 3.5 baths set over 3 floors in this spacious townhouse style condo also offers a private patio and gas grill. The complex, Coconut Bay, is quiet and would suit those who don't like the hustle of heavy tourist traffic on Seven Mile Beach but still want to be close to all the action on the beach. Guests enjoy discounts on car rental through Budget Rent-a-Car (20%) and through Stingray Adventures (10%) for diving/boat trips/kayak and paddle board rentals. Dive training is available onsite through a resident instructor and can be done in one of the 2 pools. Dive tanks, gear, and outdoor shower area are available 24/7 to residents of the complex. There is nothing better than staying at Coconut Bay Resort, sitting on a lounger on the private beach area, and watching the sun go down while sipping a cocktail, then returning to the privacy of your condo patio and having a barbeque. People not keen on cooking can take advantage of the short, 100 yard walk to one of Cayman's top restaurants the 'Cracked Conch' and also their active beach bar 'Maccabucca'. Have just returned from a relaxing and most enjoyable stay at Coconut Bay. Located far enough away from the crowds of tourists in St. George where the cruise ships dock yet located close enough to the beaches for some swimming and sunning the condo is ideally located. The condo itself is well furnished, from the full kitchen, the grill, and ample number of baths/showers available after a day at the beach. There is a restaurant the Cracked Conch a short walk away which has a outdoor patio bar on the ocean where I and my wife whiled away some time enjoying the weather and local food. Just down the road from the cracked Conch is Dolphin Discovery and the Turtle Farm where you can swim with the dolphins and interact with turtles. for those uncomfortable with driving on the left side buses are available to take you to the beach and into St. George for some shopping.
We have stayed here multiple times. We are always glad to return and enjoy everything about the complex, it's location, and the island. Trips have been made with family, friends, and twice now with our daughter (at ages 8 and 14 months) and accommodations are able to be made to have necessary items to help with keeping her in the condo such as baby gates. the condo is nicely furnished and equipped for self prep meals. Diving on site is spectacular and very private compared to some other locations. Amenities depending on what you desire are anywhere from walking distance to a short drive. Don't hesitate to book and stay!
Staying at coconut bay
Our stay at Coconut Bay was rather enjoyable. The condo was well maintained and nicely furnished. We felt that its location was perfect, not too far from the hustle and bustle but not too close that you felt in the middle of a tourist trap. Nearby you could find plenty of restaurants, the turtle farm, the dolphin encounter and the car museum. In the mornings we enjoyed taking our daughter to the rocky shoreline and beach of the condo to look for hermit crabs and other sea life.
The manager, Duncan, was extremely accommodating when it came to any of our concerns (2 toddlers needing baby gates and high chair). He also was great when it came to the diving, arranging the dives so that you were the only people on the dive site at the time.
We would definitely recommend Coconut Bay to people looking for a great, relaxing place to stay!
One of the Best Caribbean Vacations!! Condo/complex had a lot to offer & activities were fun!!
We just got back from our weeklong Caribbean vacation in the Cayman Islands and what a great time we had!! The weather was fantastic, condo was beautiful and activities/excursions made this one of our favorite trips!
We rented a car from the airport for the week, which allowed us to go to the supermarket, Seven Mile beach, the Jetski excursion and the Catamaran tour. The condo was located a short 20 minute drive from the airport and we took in some of the sights of the island on our drive, including Seven Mile beach, Dolphin Discovery, Turtle Farm, and a few restaurants. The Coconut Bay complex and condo were very welcoming when we arrived. The condo was huge – 3 floors, very well kept and had all the amenities we were looking for on vacation. Walking into the condo, on the first floor is the kitchen, table/dining room, living room and half bathroom. There were newer appliances in the kitchen, a large table for eating and lots of space. The second floor had the master bedroom, with a bathroom attached, as well as a second bedroom (two twin beds), common bathroom, and washer/dryer. Both bedrooms were good size and had closet space to store our clothes. The third floor had a loft bedroom with a queen bed, sitting space, and a bathroom. We were amazed by how well kept the condo was and were so excited to stay there for the week!
Connected to the living room on the first floor was the covered patio. It had a grill (which we cooked on a few days) and we were steps away from one of the pools in the complex. The second pool is around the 2nd row of condos and the water/beach is right in front of the complex. Being so close to the water was an added plus for snorkeling and our introductory scuba dive. My husband and I love to snorkel and this was perfect – we saw tons of cool fish and coral! We also did an introductory scuba dive, where we saw a lion fish, a turtle, and many other fish along the gorgeous reef. The best part of the snorkeling and scuba diving was that we didn’t even have to leave the complex nor take a boat for our dive – we did everything off the coast of our resort!
In addition to the snorkeling & scuba diving, we did the Dolphin Discovery and Turtle Farm, which was right around the corner (walking distance) from the condo. We had a blast interacting with the dolphins and bought the video with our memories! We also hung out at Seven Mile beach a few days – it was nice having the convenience of it being so close to the condo!
Thank you for your response and comments. We are very happy that you enjoyed your stay at Coconut Bay Resort in Grand Cayman. We visit Grand Cayman frequently and never get tired of the many attractions you mention. Please come and see us again! Ken S.
Located a short walk from the Cayman Car Museum, Dolphin Discovery and the Turtle Farm. 'Scuba Diving' Magazine - Jan/Feb 2014 - 2014 Readers Choice Awards; Best Overall Destination - Page 16': Cayman Islands #1 - 'There are a host of reasons why Grand Cayman became the birthplace of recreational diving back in the 1960s. Perched atop the Cayman Trench in the warm Caribbean, this 76-square mile island offered the clean, clear water in which coral reefs thrive and marine life proliferates, combined with forward-thinking stewards with the vision to protect their natural wonders. Half a century later, landmark dive sites such as Stingray City, Big Tunnels, and Devil's Grotto continue to draw thousands of divers every year, and the roster of old favorites is buttressed by a long list of new sites, including the Kittywake artificial reef and dozens of spots that are part of the Dive 365 Program - one for each day of the year. But what consistently puts Grand Cayman over the top with our readers in this category are the peripherals - talcum-powder beaches, high-quality dive operators, convenient airlift from major U.S. cities, and warm Caribbean hospitality.'
