About Todd & Peggy Allen

Savage Hart Farm’s owner/operators – Peggy and Todd Allen – share a vision to turn a beautiful post and beam 4-bedroom home on 32 acres into a working farm with a vacation rental apartment. We moved onto the farm in July of 2012, and only a month later we were joined by our “starter” flock consisting mostly of colored Corriedale sheep. By October, we had built a small barn and installed about 4000 feet of permanent fencing to get us through our first winter. With 25 acres of grass, the sheep have plenty of room to grow. Spring 2013 we had five lambs join our flock! And in June, the yarn from their fleece arrived!

Todd & Peggy Allen purchased this apartment in 2012

Truly a lovely farm location

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at Savage Hart Farm was perfect. We were a group of four friends attending a four day baking class at King Arthur flour in Norwich. While the location was convenient to the school it was truly the hospitality of the owner and the comfort of the apartment that made this stay memorable.

The farmhouse sits on top of a hill and has an amazing view over the local countryside.

We started each day off with a hike or walk through the surrounding fields and roads. Peggy, the owner went out of her way to share with us locations to hike as well as lend us equipment.

The apartment itself was immaculate and had everything that we needed. We decided to stay in one night for dinner and every cooking utensil needed was there and seemed to be brand new.

We highly recommend staying at Savage Hart Farm!

Owner's Response: Thanks! We know how great the classes are at King Arthur Flour. We appreciate the kind words. The views here are a gift we never take for granted and we do try our very best to ensure the space is spotless and well equipped. We love knowing that it was shared by good friends. This is such an amazing farm with great views. Peggy and Todd were wonderful and even took us into the pasture to meet the sheep. It was bitterly cold but nothing beats those views. Exploring Dartmouth, Quechee, Woodstock and Killington was all a short drive away. Great place with all the needed amenities. Thanks for a great New Years adventure!

Beautiful spacious apartment

  • 5 of 5

My boyfriend and I loved staying at Savage Hart Farm! The location is beautiful and the apartment was extremely clean, quiet, and spacious. The apartment was also well appointed and we enjoyed the board games! Peggy and Todd were very gracious hosts who told us about their sheep and the farm. It was a great location for visiting various places like Woodstock and Hanover, and taking a class at King Arthur Flour!

What an amazing visit in Vermont!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I were in the area for a meeting in Hanover. This turned out to be a perfect location for us--so convenient to everything, yet it is in such a gorgeous, rural location. We absolutely loved our stay there and Peggy is so kind and helpful. We loved sitting in the Adirondack chairs and watching the sunset! We would definitely return.

Even better in person

  • 5 of 5

My daughter and I stayed here for two nights at the end of September. It was even better than the pictures and descriptions. The apartment is just the right size and has everything one would need during the visit. There is a great shower, which can sometimes be an issue. The view is amazing and sitting out in the evening, looking at the stars was so calming and peaceful. Peggy and Todd were accommodating and friendly. Trust their recommendations regarding restaurants. Our one regret was that we didn't really get to meet the sheep, totally our fault. I plan to visit again. I highly recommend Savage Hart Farm.
