About this property

Red River Gorge Glamping Tent: Cozy Winter Escape w/ Hot-Tub

Welcome to your woodland getaway in the heart of Kentucky’s Red River Gorge. This cozy bell tent sits within a small glamping village on 13 wooded acres, offering a peaceful basecamp for hikers, climbers, families, couples, or anyone craving a quiet reset surrounded by nature.

Inside the tent, you’ll find soft rugs, comfortable furnishings, a queen bed with an electric blanket, a powerful space heater, a mini fridge, and warm ambient lighting — everything you need to stay cozy even on chilly Appalachian nights. Think camping, but gentler.

Step outside onto the private deck and enjoy access to the communal meadow fire pit, perfect for stargazing and slow evenings with your complimentary s’mores kit. You’re also just steps away from our newest amenity: a shared outdoor hot tub in the common area — ideal for warming up after a long hike or simply unwinding beneath the trees.

A short footpath leads to the modern outhouse-style bathhouse, featuring private hot-water showers and clean individual restroom stalls.

Located just 25 minutes from Red River Gorge’s most loved trails and Natural Bridge State Resort Park, The Retreat at High Rock combines rustic simplicity with thoughtful comforts. Whether you’re here for adventure or restoration, this cozy tent offers a warm, inviting place to land.

Great for: hikers, couples, solo travelers, peaceful weekends, unplugged escapes, and winter glamping.

The yurt was clean and comfortable, I loved the location! The firepit had firewood stocked there for the evenings, and the bed was comfortable!

it was absolutely so cute there. The host was so fast to communicate. As soon as we got there we were even given an electric blanket which was the perfect touch to the night! The bathroom were so clean and easy to get to! Highly recommend.

Once we got there our yurt it was flooded after a struggle to get a hold of someone we got moved to what they say was the same size yurt but I don't belive it. They did clean up all the water and we got to stay in the yurt we originally rented. You can definitely smell the wetness and the serge protector was still in a small puddle of water. After reaching out they express my disappointment I received a what i feel like was a rude response to my email. I will nog be back definitely not worth the money or stress of staying here!!!!

Sara really enjoyed her stay. One potential improvement is communication at time of arrival.

About the host

Hosted by Heidi Brown

Host profile image
We’re your co-hosts Heidi and Michael, a husband-and-wife team serving as on-site property managers and creative directors for The Retreat at High Rock. After years in hospitality, event, and media work, we’re now shaping this space into a place where travelers can slow down, reconnect with nature, and experience the magic of the Gorge. When we’re not hosting, you’ll probably find us tending the fire pits, filming new ideas, or hiking the nearby trails with our son.

Why they chose this property

Tucked into the rolling foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, our corner of Stanton feels like stepping off the grid without losing touch completely. We’re just 25 minutes from Natural Bridge State Park and the best hiking, climbing, and kayaking in Red River Gorge. Even closer, you’ll find winding country roads, old barns, and the kind of quiet that lets you hear your own thoughts again. It’s a place where mornings start with mist over the trees and nights end under a sky full of stars — the perfect balance of wild and welcoming.

What makes this property unique

The Retreat at High Rock isn’t a resort — it’s an experience. Each yurt and cabin has its own personality, connected by winding footpaths, shared fire pits, and a spirit of community. Guests come here to unplug, recharge, and rediscover a slower rhythm surrounded by forest and sky. You’ll find handcrafted touches, cozy details like electric blankets and lanterns, and plenty of space to breathe.

We’re in the midst of transforming this hidden gem into a creative retreat and gathering space — a place for travelers, artists, and nature-lovers alike. Over time, you’ll see new amenities take shape: seasonal events, workshops, and a small retail nook offering local sundries, merch, and a curated vintage collection of outdoor wear. It’s a work in progress, evolving with care and intention — and you’re part of its story when you stay here.
