An early 1800 hundreds authentic hand-hewn log cabin nestled in the woods, at the base of Peters Mountain,in a lovely country setting. Located on approximately eight acres of private property with a cool mountain stream running through, come and enjoy the beauty of Monroe county WV!
We call this home, our family has loved this area for generations and we know that you will too!
A rural mountain setting, the cabin the cool flowing stream and the unique flora in all of our seasons. Keep in mind we are a four season retreat, the property is abundant with wildlife, deer, wild turkey and occasional black bear.Peters Mountain is known for its unique phenomenon one of only two mountains in the world, 'Natures Greatest Noises',a tremendous thundering roar!
The property is beautiful and very well kept. Everything was clean and organized. Unfortunately we did not spend much time there as we were there for a funeral and spent most of our time with family in there homes. We did not cook or use the appliances, but we do plan on goin back again soon. Our experience was short but good and would recommend staying there. We may be back there sooner than we expect. 😀
The cabin was perfect for my short getaway. Very clean and had everything I needed. A great location for making day trips around the area.
Thanks Amy and Tim
If you are looking to disconnect for a long weekend then this is the place to be. My wife and I enjoyed wildlife and strolling the local shops. The cabin has a warm and comfortable feeling to just let go and relax.
Amy and Tim,
Thank you for an Awesome 8 days in your Beautiful Mountain Cabin. I arrived late evening due to a last minute change in my schedule. Not only did I receive a phone call from Amy concerned about my well being but I arrived to Beautiful Cabin with the lights on and the scent of a fall candle fragrance. In Hospitality, one must appeal to all five senses. Sight, sound, touch, taste and smell. The setting was breath taking, the quite noises of the night were awesome, there was plenty to touch outside, at the corner of Zenith and Route 3 was a great little store "Cheese and More" with some very tasty goodies and there is nothing like the scent of the forest and yes, the clean air.
This respite was exactly what I sought in the location and more. It was a beautiful cabin and was very tastefully decorated to match the quaintness of the originality of the Cabin. Getting to meet the owners was one of the highlights of my stay. They are awesome and made sure I was settled in and having a great stay throughout. It felt like I was home. I highly recommend this rental or one of their other properties. You will leave happy and wanting to return. Thanks!
My wife and I spent our 47 year wedding anniversary there.we loved the cabin and it's decorations.we seen deer and wild turkey while sitting on the front porch.also we had fun visiting Gap Mill, bakery,Resturant ln Paint Bank.my dog and I really enjoyed our hike to hanging rock tower. hope to come back again.
Our experience at the "Mountain Shadow Cabin" was a fun one. The cabin itself is well-kept and the inside is very clean and tidy with no visible spiders/bugs etc. Very homey and comfortable. Outside there is a small man-made bubbling water fountain and you can faintly hear the brook in the distance as well which was very nice. Two large trees had been wrapped in christmas-style lights but we were unable to turn them on despite plugging them in. We were a bit disappointed when we arrived to find that the road that the cabin is located on is fairly busy - pickup trucks and ATVs traversed it till at least 10pm. Judging by the pictures it looked as if it was located in a serene area with no one around for miles, but just outside the pictures there are several homes just down the road and in sight. There is also a huge unsightly "NO PIPELINE" sign right in front of the cabin that kind of spoils the look. So just keep that in mind. At night it was quiet and things settled down by 10. We enjoyed a fire in the metal fire pit in the back, too. Town is very small with only a few restaurants and not much to do, but cute. A nice place to go if looking to get away but not too far away from civilization.
