The Lodge of McClemore's Cove is a custom built 6,000 square foot log home that has many unique features that will make your stay memorable. The 28 ft. cathedral ceilings and the massive 10 foot front doors are a glimpse into what is in store for our guests. Gorgeous mountain views in all directions and unheard of privacy make this a place that seems to have been untouched by time. The Lodge sits atop a ridge with Lookout Mountain 2 miles to the west and Pigeon Mountain 2 miles to the east and the end of the McClemore's Cove 5 miles to the south. The early risers can watch the sun peek over Pigeon Mountain and everyone can watch the beautiful sunsets over Lookout Mountain. And the best is yet to come as once the sun sets the spectacular night sky puts on a show that is breathtaking. If you love nature's beauty then you will be at home here and if you enjoy real log homes this is the place for you. If you want the big city and parking lots then you may have a change of heart after your visit. Whatever your preferences we will welcome you to a beautiful log home that is in a gorgeous setting.

The capacity for the lodge is 24 and we have just added an auxillary house that is available for larger groups that have up to 32 people. The auxillary house is 1500 sq. ft. and has 3 bedrooms and 2 baths and is just down the hill from the lodge. There is an additional charge for the auxillary house. If you are interested please ask for more information.

The average group size in the Lodge is 22 people and there is plenty of room for everyone. The 2 adjacent great rooms provide lots of options for tv watching, gaming, conversation, or just relaxing by the fireplace. The 2,200 sq. ft of open area on the ground floor is perfect for connecting with family and friends.

The 2 kitchens provide lots of options for the cooks and chefs as well. The larger kitchen has a gas oven, convection oven, and convection microwave oven as well as 2 full sinks, dishwasher,XL fridge, and lots of countertops for preparation. The smaller kitchen has an electric stove, XL fridge, dishwasher, full sink, washer/dryer, and more countertop areas. There are 2 full-size dining room tables and seating at the bar in the larger kitchen/dining area as well.

There are 3 bedrooms on the main floor and 1 full bath and a 1/2 bath as well. These rooms all have queen beds in them and give our guests who don't want to climb stairs the option of not having to while still being able to access the great rooms.

Upstairs there are 2 huge master bedrooms that each have king beds, sitting areas, bathrooms with jacuzzi tubs, and walkout balcony decks with gorgeous views. There is also the bunk room with 2 sets of bunk beds and also a loft area with a very comfy futon and Thomas the Tank Engine track set for the younger train enthusiasts. At the top is the tower bedroom which has incredible views in all directions and has a full bed in it.

The lodge has over 2,500 sq. ft. of decks and porches so no matter what time of day it is you can find some shade or sun to relax in a rocker or chair. The covered front porch is great if it's raining to listen to the rain on the metal roof or to watch the sun set over Lookout Mountain. The back screened in porch is awesome to enjoy birdwatching or listening to the sounds of nature. The enclosed porch has the foosball table and sauna and outdoor game equipment and the 3 balcony decks are great for a morning cup of coffee to start your day. The large side deck has incredible views year round as you can see to the end of the cove.

The back patio has the hot tub and leads to the 36 ft inground pool that is exclusively for your use. The pool is the place to be for all ages either wearing out the young ones or relaxing for the older ones. Also in the back is the fire pit and outdoor fireplace which provide endless hours of memories while relaxing and roasting marshmallows.

There is 3 acres of front yard space for kids to roam and play games as well as the woods to explore. Take a mile hike on the property that goes through the woods and across the lower pasture to Chickamauga Creek which is on the property. The creek is 30 feet wide and usually is only a few feet deep. The kids love to play in the creek and look for animals and their footprints. Also, searching for arrowheads is a popular endeavor around the creek as well.

What makes this lodge unique

Surrounded by mountains and wildlife The Lodge of McClemore's Cove is truly a special place to come and relax. Sit on the deck and unwind as the sounds of nature remind you of a slower pace. Watch the hawks soar or the deer grazing or hear the coyotes yelp at night and you and your youngsters become engaged with nature. Hike through the woods to the creek on the mile long nature trail and try to find the items on the scavenger hunt list. Look for animal tracks, fish, search for arrowheads, or just sit on a rock and be mesmerized by the sounds of the water flowing down the 30 ft. wide creek.

Watch the sun rise over Pigeon Mountain and set over Lookout Mountain and then be prepared for an awesome sight as the night sky is illuminated by the stars and nothing else! Learn the constellations because you can see them. Where else can you roast marshmallows and sing by the fire as late as you like and not worry about bothering the neighbors?

Pigeon Mountain (2 miles away) has a 10 minute hike to an 80 ft waterfall and also has Rocktown on top for rock climbers of all ages. It has miles of hiking trails but no houses. Cloudland Canyon State Park is only 15 minutes away on Lookout Mountain and it is worth the visit.

There are very few places this private that specialize in large groups that can stay together. The Lodge of McClemore's Cove takes pride in doing all that it can to insure that each group has a memorable time for all the right reasons. Always clean on arrival and doing our best to make sure that everything is in good working order is our pledge to our guests. It is only 15 minutes to Lafayette, Ga. which has Wal-Mart, Bi-lo, and Shop-Rite for your grocery or fast food needs. Downtown Chattanooga is an easy 30 minutes with only 2 red lights and 3 stop signs and no traffic on the way. If you are not familiar with Chattanooga it is very family friendly and offers all kinds of attractions and restaurants. We hope you come to visit:)

Perfect, Perfect, Perfect - Our Family Reunion Was Amazing

  • 5 of 5

Not only is the Lodge itself fantastic for a family reunion but the surrounding area, including Chattanooga proper, and Jon, the owner, ensured an amazing week was had by all. We were 3 generations (from almost 2 to over 70) traveling from 10 states to enjoy the long awaited time together - and we weren't disappointed. The kitchen facilities (we even held our own Chopped ala the Cooking Channel), the sleeping options, the pool, the outside spaces, the decks, the games, the trails, the stream, the inside seating options - combined for each of us making memories forever. Despite the travel required by all, none were disappointed. And, as was hoped, the time spent together only led to talk of when can we do this again. Absolutely the BEST - every moment.

32 extended family members were accommodated by Mr. Jon with no one having to sleep on thefloor.

We had a wonderful time. Mr. Jon mowed a path through his field to the creek, where both young and old kids went 3 times that week...pool and hot tub used each day...one night the electricity went off in the middle of the night and with one of our grandmas being on oxygen, Mr. Jon was called. He offered to come and start his generator, but with some oxygen tanks, we advised if it didn't come back on, we would call him. Visits to several local historical sites were great for several, especially with homeschoolers onboard. The rustic log cabin is quite a treat with so many little ones playing board games at the other end of the house, giving the old "grumps" some peace and quiet. The 2 kitchens were a Godsend, with so many of us...if you are big crockpot cookers, there is one (so you may want to bring some extras), we had 3 going one night for a chili cook off. But everything else in the kitchens were more than sufficient. We had a wonderful time; Mr. Jon was wonderful with his accommodations. We would love to be there again. Thanks Mr. Jon

Our family has a big family reunion scheduled for June 2017...but in the interim our eldest daughter was diagnosed with cancer...after 6 months of positive treatment, the labs showed progress had done a 180...daughter needed to pray and search about their next step..the calendar for the vacation house noted no one scheduled right then...I left a message for Mr Jon, asking to use the property for the next three days...he answered almost immediately and was there to meet us the next day to open the home for us...We had three days of quiet time to pray and review her next step..Please look over the other reviews that have all the details of what the property offers...I am giving information about the owner...A man of honor, conviction, purpose and love...
