If you enjoy the beauty of rural Gettysburg but want to be conveniently located to the Historic Battlefield sites including Little Round Top our guest suite may be the perfect farm stay, getaway for you. With over 1,400 square feet, the nicely appointed guest suite offers comfortable sleeping accommodations for up to 4 people. In 2017, the suite will be able to sleep 6!
Most visitors enjoy the scenic views, walks through the gardens or taking in a leisurely stroll after a day full of touring. Others come less for the history and more for outdoor activities like biking through the park and quite farm roads that surround over 5,000 acres of the Gettysburg Military Park.
In 2017, we will open an additional bedroom in our guest suite to accommodate up to 6 people comfortably. The main bedroom (see photos) has a queen size bed, the new bedroom will have two twin beds and the Murphy bed in a semi-private area (see photo) is ideal for kids or the grand kids. We'll post pictures of the new twin bedroom in February, 2017.
Owners, Jeff & Kathy Glahn live on site as they manage a kiwi vineyard and gardens. Visitors have private entrance and outdoor sitting area to make our home you away home.
Owners, Jeff and Kathy Glahn relocated to Gettysburg in 1998 and soon after Kathy started a hardy kiwi vineyard on the land. In 2012 we decided to 'simplify' our life and built a home on the site. We are hooked on this location for it's rural beauty and easy access to the park, downtown Gettysburg and other visitor attractions. Guests are welcome to tour the gardens (when in season) and perhaps get a few garden tips from the head gardener herself.
Kathy purchased this apartment in 2012
This Hospital Road property was originally part of the George Bushman Farm which served as the Twelfth Corps Civil War Hospital. This area continues to remain somewhat rural with acres of gentle hills and less travel country roads perfect for biking.
To either start or end your day, enjoy relaxing outside and take in the view of Big and Little Roundtop.
Sunrise to sunset, our home overlooks both Big and Little Roundtop one of the most frequently visited historic sites in Gettysburg. Little Roundtop is just a mile walk from the property.
Our guests enjoy the relaxing spaciousness of our guest suite and as many say "this is a perfect location".
Kathy and Jeff's home was perfectly situated just outside of town in Gettysburg, accessible by bike or walking to the battlefield. We loved the homey-ness of the apartment and Kathy made us feel immediately at home with breakfast items available and and great recommendations for restaurants, museums and happenings in town. We happened to be in town during Remembrance Day, so the town was super busy and it was great to have a home to relax in during the down time.
The home itself was comfortable and clean, it was just two of us for the space but we enjoyed having the room. We were two gals looking for a fun history-packed weekend away from home and the Kiwi Berry Farmette was one of the highlights of our entire trip. Highly recommended to any friends or family traveling together and simply want a comfy place to call a temporary home.
Kathy and Jeff were some of the best host I've ever had renting and provided so much information and little unexpected touches that made the trip even that much better.
If there were a way to put 6 stars on my review, I would.
The Kiwi Berry Farmette is a labor of love and a perfect place to experience all of Gettysburg and the surrounding areas.
I had an extended stay with Kathy and Jeff, and what they offered was way beyond what I could imagine.
The suite is very spacious and beautifully furnished, and is equipped with everything you will need. Kathy has thought of every detail!
A full-sized fridge and fully equipped kitchenette means you can eat in if you choose.
Kathy and Jeff are both great hosts who openly share everything they know about this treasured area of Pennsylvania, but also give you as much space as you need to explore on your own.
The location of the property is perfect for easy access to the Gettysburg National Battlefield, the Visitor Center, sunsets on Little Round Top, and a short drive to downtown Gettysburg.
If you're looking for the true VRBO experience of staying with local community stewards on a beautiful working farm, this is a special place for you to enjoy!
Thank you, Kathy and Jeff, for everything!!
Kathy and her husband were the most phenomenal hosts! Whenever we return to Gettysburg we will be staying there again!
They have thought of everything here. Very clean and well kept. They made us feel right at home. Only wished we could have stayed longer. Will definitely stay here again. Highly recommend.
We had a great stay at Kathy and Jeff's Kiwi Berry Farmette. The location was secluded, yet very close to everything. The hosts were very gracious and accommodating. It was very nice to feel like you were far out in the country, but still be close to all the historical sites. The accommodations were very clean and spacious. If there was any downside, it was that any noise or movement from the main floor was transferred directly to the basement apartment.
Such a great property and great owners! I didn't want to leave when the time came! The guest suite is beautiful and so comfortable. The property is great to walk around, even has a pond with ducks and frogs! Just a few minutes drive to Gettysburg. We slept in the bedroom (very comfy bed) and our 11 year old daughter slept on the murphy bed, which is actually very private with the use of the curtains. She loved feeling like she had her own room. Everything from the yogurt in the fridge and fresh maple syrup for the frozen waffles was just perfect. Our daughter loved Guinness (the dog!), the cats and the fireflies-which we don't have in Arizona! We spent both evenings sitting in the chairs on the property admiring the views, we saw deer, a fox, rabbits and many fireflies! The owners gave great suggestions for where to eat, jog and even a different trail head for the Appalachian Trail. Kitchen is well stocked with all we needed, microwave, toaster, coffee maker; although no stove, this was not a problem for us as we went out to eat dinner one night and the other night was meats and cheeses from our recent visit to Amish country. The owners could not have been more accommodating and welcoming, if we are ever in the area again we will be sure to stay here!
Perfect for visitors that wish to visit multiple sites around historic Gettysburg but enjoy biking or hiking the beautiful countryside that surrounds this quaint small town.
