About the property

550 Square Foot 'Home' With Private Entrance, Kitchen And Bath.

Visiting your U of M student for the holidays or coming to the Detroit area to visit friends or family or do business? This is the PERFECT LOCATION if you desire a cozy, comfortable, private, and clean place to stay while visiting the Ann Arbor or southeastern Michigan areas.

This apartment is newer construction and includes slate flooring, bay window and gorgeous view of the naturalized acreage in the backyard. There are two main living areas to relax in: a spacious bedroom and 20x14 living area. The décor is neutral and features interesting little owner finds from their antique-ing, garage sale-ing and DIY-ing. Tons of storage is at your disposal if you’re considering an extended stay.

The kitchen area is fully equipped with everything you’ll need to make yourself at home: full-size refrigerator & apartment-size stove, pots & pans, dishes & stemware, cooking utensils, serving bowls & silverware. We even throw in the coffee & fixin’s to help get you going in the morning.

Your bathroom features full-sized tub and plenty of room to move around. A bench seat and plenty of plush towels are included. You also have access to the laundry area.

Did we happen to mention the house sits on nearly fourteen acres? It is set back from the road to afford you plenty of privacy, yet in a residential area so you’re not isolated by any means. You’ll love sipping your coffee on the porch in the morning, hanging out by the campfire at night, or taking a quick run through the fields and woods behind the house when feeling the need to get some quick exercise in.

Oh, and there’s a pool, too! You’ll want to bring your suit so you can enjoy the private backyard area that features two BBQ grills (both charcoal and gas so you don’t have to choose!), spacious deck and five foot in-ground swimming pool. (For safety reasons, no one under 18 is allowed in the pool area without a parent or guardian present.)

While we're not environmental fanatics, we do what we can to minimize our impact on the planet. You'll find gardens, rain barrel, lots of naturalized area and solar panels on the property. We do compost and recycle, and encourage our guests to do the same.

Click the "Book It" button now to make a reservation. PLEASE CHECK OUR CALENDAR FOR AVAILABILITY first as it is always kept up-to-date. Or send an inquiry for an exact quote if that is important to you. The automated process sometimes includes items/doesn't include items in their quote so it is rarely correct. Make sure to mention if you're bringing a pet. We look forward to having you! (Maximum 3-week rental term.)

About Tracy Ball

Dave and I have known each other since our senior year of high school. We spent senior weekend together camping with a group of our friends and haven’t been apart much since. We've been married 36 years, and most of them have been pretty darn good.

Our daughter lives in Seattle; our son and his family live in Las Vegas. His family includes our first and only grandchild, whom we miss seeing on a regular basis now that they're no longer residing in Michigan.

We love being empty-nesters, and we also love traveling the country to see the kids (who have also resided in Chattanooga, Texas and Virginia Beach.) I just got my own motorcycle so we can both ride together or alone. We adore – well, at least I do – our Great Dane, Memphis, and are on our 8th Jeep. Guess you could say we are trying to enjoy life while we can.

'We have our health and family. Life is better than we deserve!'

Tracy Ball purchased this bungalow in 2005

Why Tracy Ball chose Michigan

We have lived in the Belleville area for over 25 years ... it has been an amazing place to raise our family and grow older together. It affords us the best of both worlds ... rural setting to be close to nature yet close enough to the city so that when we want to mix and mingle it up with people, we're just a short drive away.

It has been a pure joy to hop on the bike (motor or pedal) and explore the surrounding area. Everything you might possibly want or need out of life is just around the corner from here.

What makes this bungalow unique

This property was the perfect place where we could care for our aging parents. The house is a ranch design, and we were able to create separate living quarters for them out of the attached garage.

Now that they no longer need it, we've decided to share this comfortable space with others. It's important to have a nice, clean, secure location while away from home. It is so much better than a cold and maybe clean hotel room or the awkwardness and perhaps inconvenience of staying with friends or relatives. We've used VRBO numerous times and always found it a great experience.

Thank you for helping us with Flash, our 2 1/2-year-old Bassador. He loved running around in the snow.

This is the second time we've stayed here while visiting family nearby.

Tracy is a great communicator and always very responsive to texts and help with booking!

When we arrived, the place was warm and inviting and extremely clean! She even put up a Christmas tree!

The small kitchen with fridge and stove is nice to have for small meals and snacks.

I really can't say enough good things about this place and the owners. We've been here twice and will definitely be back!

Owner's Response: In the wintertime it's even less likely we'll see our guests, as was the case with your visit this time. But so glad you enjoyed the space again, and it was our pleasure to make it comfortable for you and your family during your brief holiday visit. So glad you didn't end up having to cancel due to the weather. Thanks for being such great guests, and we sure look forward to having you again.

Excellent Experience!!

  • 5 of 5

My girlfriend came to Michigan to go to the Michigan vs Illinois game & stayed in Monroe right on Lake Erie with her family. We wanted to stay a couple of extra days to celebrate my birthday the following Monday. I found and booked this place & we immediately fell in love with place when we arrived! It is a small place but it is set up so very well & has all the amenities you need for your stay. Tracy & Dave were so great, you can really tell they love doing this because they take the time to make sure every detail was thought of. Memphis was a great joy to be around as well. The fire pit was awesome as well, Dave even went so far as lighting the fire pit shortly after we arrived and introduced ourselves. I would recommend this property to anyone wanting to stay in this area. If we go to another Michigan game we will rent this place again!

Owner's Response: And it was great having you stay with us. We love it when our guests enjoy our property as much as we do and appreciate all it has to offer. It never gets tired checking the trails for fresh deer tracks, watching the sunrise and set over the trees, or letting Memphis out to run full bore around the backyard. Hope to see you again next fall. P.S. Sorry we didn't find your shoes!

Close enough to be accessible, yet far enough to be very peaceful

  • 5 of 5

A great location! Out in the peaceful country, with mowed paths winding through fields and lightly wooded area but only a little over 30 minutes from Ann Arbor. Accommodations were spotless, with all the linens, soaps, dishes, and anything else that we needed. In the evenings we sat around the firepit that Dave thoughtfully prepared for us and enjoyed the weather. Drove to nearby Belleville and enjoyed some excellent Cajun food. (Thanks, Tracy, for recommending Bayou Grill). Thank you also, Tracy and Dave, for sharing Memphis with us; we enjoyed him as well. We plan on returning next year.

The three of us had a great time, and Tracy and Dave are wonderful hosts. Definitely a five-star rating.

Awesome Country Retreat!!!

  • 5 of 5

We had the most wonderful and relaxing time. Everything we needed or could have wanted was there. We felt as though we were living on our own little country estate. What a beautiful, natural property to walk and explore. Everyday we found new plants blooming, deer tracks, or bunnies crossing our path. We also loved the three large Metro- and two county parks that were just a couple of min away - and of course Crosswinds Marsh - a nature enthusiasts paradise!

Even though we thoroughly enjoyed the quiet country life we were still only about 1/2 an hr away from three major cities and all that was to explore there. The absolute best part though of our stay in Belleville were Tracy and Dave. Two nicer, kinder, and sweeter hosts we could not have wished for. They took such wonderful care of us, we felt like part of the family. Of course my girls were totally smitten with handsome Memphis. Sarah's tail still wags when I mention his name.

I hope life gives us the opportunity to visit with Tracy and Dave again sometime.

Thanks so much, you guys were the best!

Owner's Response: Awe, man. Now you have my eyes welling up. We so enjoyed having you, it's hard to put in words. Just when we thought we'd had all the great guests we could possibly have, you two show up. The dogs were great - the company was great - we couldn't have asked for better folks staying in the apartment. Please, please come back and see us again!

Belleville is the perfect, unique location only 15 minutes from a big city. Enjoy the quiet, peaceful setting while enjoying a campfire and watching wildlife in their natural habitat. 5 minutes away is the quaint downtown area with enough to keep you busy for the evening, including restaurants, library and small-town stores.

At night you're only minutes away from some of the best nightlife in this area of the state.

15 minutes away is Canton: big box stores and franchises abound along with local treasures. You'll want to check out Sze-Chuan Restaurant and The Bowery Grille & Pub if you're hungry, and Canton is also home to an Ikea.

25 minutes away is Ann Arbor, home to the infamous University of Michigan. Ann Arbor is one of the coolest towns around and a designated Tree City. Their public transportation system is convenient and easy to use. You'll want to explore U of M's campus and the many interesting shops and restaurants that surround it. Hit up Main Street, REI and the Jamaican Jerkpit for starters.

35 minutes away is Detroit. Enjoy nationally-ranked sports teams. The Riverwalk is a MUST SEE if you have time - rent a Segway or a bike and spent hours riding along the waterfront trail and up the Dequindre Cut. You could spend the whole weekend in Detroit visiting all the museums, art institutes and historical places that abound.
