About Kim & Denis Gervais
We are Canadians who love the French life. We plan to retire to Collioure but in the interim are willing to share our beautiful apartment in the times that we are not there ourselves.
Kim & Denis Gervais purchased this Apartment in 2013
Why Kim & Denis Gervais chose Collioure
We stumbled across Collioure by accident and fell in the love with the town immediately. The history and culture, the simple pace of life and the food and wine just made this the perfect place for us. We are excited to share it with others.
What makes this Apartment unique
The Chateau de la Rocasse is from the 1850s making the structure very special. We love the unique apartment and all it's conveniences. Being located right on the water and across from the church makes opening the front door a lovely experience each and every day. We love the proximity to everything in the town. Right outside the door are the quaint streets filled with restaurants and artist's boutiques and you never have to drive anywhere. We love strolling down the main street, along with seaside each morning and enjoying the sunny skies and the incredible views of the mountains.

Although the weather didn't cooperate, it was cold, rainy and windy, we had a great time in Collioure. I can't believe we stayed in such an interesting apartment. It was right by the sea and we went to sleep every night with the sound of the waves hitting the beach. The apartment had everything we needed, was very clean and comfortable, and had a great location that was close to many nice places to eat and visit. We would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Collioure.
Beautiful apartment, tastefully furnished and decorated, in a great location.
Chateau de la Rocasse is a spacious modern apartment housed in an iconic chateau. The furnishings are comfortable and functional; accessories are tasteful and bright; and the artwork is typically Collioure. The bed in the first bedroom is very comfortable and there is ample space in the dresser and closet. We didn’t use the second bedroom. The shower is wonderful with good pressure and quick hot water.
Two of the windows overlook Place de lEgliese and provide a direct view of the sea. The apartment is one level above the street on that side so you can leave the windows open with no loss of privacy. There is a wonderful guitarist who plays below the windows and around the corner when the sun gets higher. He is very personable and appreciates a donation every now and again. Beware - while the street is a pedestrian walkway, garbage trucks and delivery vehicles are present in the morning. Be prepared to wake to the sounds of beeping back-up alarms. Better yet go for a morning walk and come back with fresh pastries and brew some coffee.
While the owners are not local, Kim is promptly responsive by email.

Very comfortable and beautiful location!
We loved our time in Collioure. The view from the main pedestrian street along the little port on the Mediterranean is a painting waiting to happen. We enjoyed the little restaurants and our morning coffee and croissant sitting on the shore.
The apartment is very comfortable and located at the end of the main walkway overlooking the church and the sea. The owner was readily available by email although we had no need to contact her. Everything was in order. We would book there again.
Thanks very much for your kind words! You are welcome back anytime.
Nice break in Collioure, France
We had a lovely time at Kim and Denis' house in Collioure, an amazing little fishing village by the Pyrénées Orientales, South of France.
This is the 1st time we rented an accommodation for our Easter break. We have been many times to Collioure before and The Château de Rocasse allowed us to be totally free and it is perfectly located in the centre of Collioure in the old charming part of the village. It is right at the edge of St Vincent's little beach, one of the best spot of Collioure. The House is well equipped, I truly appreciated that all the basics were available like towels, bed linens, tea towels, kettle, coffee maker. etc... and a nice little banyuls (local liquor) for welcoming ! You often get charged in France for those extras. and if you look around Collioure, the Château de Rocasse is one of the most typical house, reminding me the "Mauresque"style with its green shutters. It has indeed a lot of charm and style ! Kim is very helpful and reactive for any questions. Highly recommended.
A nice appartment in Collioure
We spent three very nice days in Collioure. This place offers many distractions and beautiful landscapes. The appartment is very well located in a typical and coloured street at a few steps of the sea It is well equipped. I recommend it strongly.
This historic little village is one of the sunniest in all of France, boasting more than 300 days of sunshine annually. It is a vibrant town that dates back centuries and preserves much of its Catalan roots through its food, art and culture.
Collioure is nestled around a protective horseshoe bay that comprises of several beaches and is bordered by a medieval Royal Palace, the 17th century church Notre Dame des Anges that has become the symbol of Collioure, and the Chapel of St. Vincent - marking the rock upon which the saint was martyred in 303 AD.
The town has been immortalized by the art of Henry Matisse and Andre Derain who began the “Fauvist” movement in the early 1900’s. Inspired by the quality of light in Collioure, they painted with vivid and unnatural colours. Other famous artists that enjoyed the life of Collioure were Salvador Dali and Pablo Picasso as well as British author Patrick O’Brien (Master and Commander).
Collioure preserves its heritage and sense of community well. Start your day with a cup of steaming java at a neighbourhood café accompanied by a traditional fresh baguette. Spend your Wednesday or Sunday morning at the downtown market meandering amongst the stalls of fresh fruits and vegetables, exotic meats, fragrant cheeses and colourful Catalan crafts. Walk around the ancient streets of the old town, and admire the historical architecture. Visit with local artisans around every nook and cranny. End your day at a seaside bar sipping one of the many Collioure vintages, feasting on the local cuisine while listening to the enchanting melodies from local street musicians, as the sun sets dramatically over the Mediterranean at your feet.
Don’t forget about those other hidden treasures in and around Collioure. A few minutes outside of town to the south, enjoy the abundant Saturday morning fish market in Port Vendres. Be sure to try the Champagne and Oysters in the fish market store. Head a few minutes along the coast to the north and spend the day on endless sandy beaches in Argeles-sur-Mer, Saint Cyprien or Canet-en-Rousillon. Drive inland one to two hours from Collioure and discover Cathar castles including the celebrated fortified Carcassonne, an UNESCO World Heritage site.
Everything in and around this enchanting town will remind you what a “Jewel” Collioure is.
