About this property
Civil Rights Trail Townhome - Near Historic Sites
Summary:
Experience an unbeatable location nestled in civil rights history; this is one of three separate units within a 2020 remodel of a 1925 craftsman home. Located on the Selma to Montgomery Trail and next door to Coretta Scott King's hairdresser (still in business at 89yrs old), the EJI Memorial to Peace and Justice is literally over the back fence.
Privately park in the rear of the home and take a 5min stroll to all downtown restaurants and attractions.
The Space:
Nestled in Montgomery's first neighborhood, the Cottage Hill/Five Points Community established residential Montgomery and was once home to many wealthy businessmen that profited off of the city's place as a hub of human trade in the mid-late 1800s. Many of those homes remain in this, the fastest revitalizing community in the city.
The closest AirBnB to the National Memorial to Peace and Justice. Fully renovated in 2020, walk to downtown attractions and restaurants through the Troy University campus. Experience the history of Montgomery and America unlike anywhere else in the city.
Guest Access:
The entire private unit is available as well as a front porch patio and private parking in the rear of the home
The Neighborhood:
Nestled in Montgomery's first neighborhood, the Cottage Hill/Five Points Community was established in the mid/late 1800s by profiteers of Montgomery's position as one of the largest slave markets in the Southeast United States. Ironically, the neighborhood's revitilization is being undertaken by intentional efforts of a muti-racial, muti-generational group of residents restoring its prominence, while creating equity in ways previously unattainable in this community.
Our block is a national treasure with two homes on the National Historic register (Winter Place 1850 and The Tyson House Plantation 1832). The neighborhood itself was once home to the vast wealth accumulated in Montgomery.
Multi-story mansions once lined our street (some remain) as the homes of lawyers, bankers, insurers, and politicians that conducted business in downtown Montgomery, located just a 7min walk away.
Some homes were lost to time, but a handful have been recently restored and new homes are being built, sparking a gradual neighborhood renaissance of residential, commercial, and community development, with our home as a driving element.
The closest AirBnB to the National Memorial to Peace and Justice. Fully renovated in 2020, walk to the downtown attractions and restaurants through the Troy University campus. Experience the history of Montgomery and America unlike anywhere else in the city and few places in the country.
Getting Around:
Feel free to use your private parking in the rear of the home and walk or Uber downtown. Most dining is walking distance or a maximum of a 15 drive to Montgomery’s shopping district
