This holiday home is located in picturesque surroundings near the Hardangerfjord, close to Rosendal. The cosy, traditionally Norwegian-style holiday home welcomes you with a spacious living and dining area. The large windows offer a wonderful view of the surrounding area. Adjacent to this is a fully equipped kitchen with a dishwasher. The bathroom features a sink, toilet, shower, and a washing machine.

The terrace is a wonderful place to relax, eat, read, and soak up every ray of sunshine. Whether on the grill or over a fire—grilled fish or a delicious steak are always a treat.

But before you can enjoy your meal, you’ll need to go fishing. We head out onto the water in a motorboat to catch cod, pollock, ling, mackerel, redfish, or other species. But even trips to the surrounding area by boat make for an unforgettable experience. For anglers, the area offers salmon rivers teeming with salmon and sea trout. Fishing licences for the salmon rivers are affordable, costing about NOK 100.- per day.

Well-marked hiking trails through the surrounding mountains and valleys in unspoiled nature make for excellent destinations during your holiday in Norway. From Sunndal, you can reach the glacier terminus of the Folgefonn Glacier via trails that pass by the refreshing Lake Bondhus. Marvel at the massive ice masses from prehistoric times.

Set out through the tunnel to the famous fruit-growing region of Hardanger. Enjoy seasonal fruits fresh from the harvest and let yourself be surprised by what lies beyond the next bend in the fjord. As you pass by waterfalls, you, too, will find your favourite spot.

A visit to historic exhibitions and museums will round out your holiday experience. Here, tradition is kept alive in a vibrant and very warm-hearted way. There’s plenty to do in the area. Dedicated locals will take you back in time and will be happy to treat you to traditional Norwegian dishes afterwards, as well as the much-loved waffles with fruit compote.

The nearest major town is Rosendal, about 8 km away. Here, the harbour is the first thing to welcome visitors. From here, you can easily reach the city of Bergen via the Hardangerfjord Express, a speedboat. A tourist information office provides you with all the necessary information and details on current events. Nostalgic buildings and cafés invite you to linger. Supermarkets, sports shops, boutiques, and restaurants are just as much a part of the town as the beautiful Rosendal Barony—a small, romantic 16th-century castle. Cultural events take place here throughout the summer, and they’re worth a visit even if you don’t speak Norwegian.

Fishing

There are plenty of fishing opportunities in the fjord, or you can take a motorboat out to fish. The owner will be happy to give you fishing tips and a copy of a nautical chart.

New fishing regulations for angling in Norway: Fjordhytte-41 is registered as a specialised tourism fishing business, so when you rent this property, you are permitted to export fish from Norway.
