About Michael Hornby
KettleStone was conceived, built and is owned by Michael Hornby ... formally of Gravenhurst, Ontario, Canada. Michael first discovered Andros Island in 1988 on a diving vacation and in 1997, in pursuit of his passion for scuba diving and a simpler lifestyle took the plunge literally and moved to the Bahamas. Michael currently lives on Andros Island and consults for a local all-inclusive resort as well as owning and managing KettleStone. No stranger to the hospitality industry, in addition to being a Technical and Recreational Diving Instructor, Michael enjoys Blue Hole cave diving, deep wall diving and is a private pilot and boat captain. After 23 years of living on Andros, Michael's love for the simplicity of the environment and the friendliness of local inhabitants continues to grow. Michael envisioned building a warm and welcoming luxury home that showcased the natural island beauty with strict attention to detail. It had to offer barefoot elegance that could be shared with others. With this vision in mind, Michael built KettleStone without compromise.
Michael Hornby purchased this Villa in 2004
Why Michael Hornby chose Andros Town
Situated on one acre … KettleStone land was chosen from years of local island research and a great stroke of opportunity which involved being offered the ideal virgin land from which to commence construction. Saving as much natural flora as possible was paramount, so carefully the land was hand cleared to preserve mature natural growth. Minutes from amenities and an international airport KettleStone Villa is only a mere one hour flight from Florida and 5 minutes from a port of entry marina ... the location was ideal. A barrier island chain, shallow lagoon and sufficient elevation to provide a panoramic view and offer cooling breezes ... KettleStone had found its beginning.
What makes this Villa unique
KettleStone was built with attention to detail. Named for the 'Kettle' formations at waters edge and expansive use of hand crafted local 'Stone' ... hand cut limestone ocean-side terraces and poolside patios enable you to take an ocean swim/snorkel to be followed by a dip in the freshwater pool or jetted spa and sun-bathe to the sound of the cascading waterfall. High vaulted open cedar ceilings and an open concept design gives KettleStone an enhanced spaciousness as well as thoughtful natural temperature control. Panoramic views from each suite and the centrally located kitchen enable you to appreciate were you are at all times. Michael believes that if you close a door and you feel as though you could be anywhere that the design has failed. Fully landscaped grounds, sheltered breezeways, ocean patios and terraces and a back patio enable you to enjoy nature front and back. The spectacular sunrises have to be seen to be believed. Welcome to KettleStone!

A True Palace In An Isolated, Beautiful Island!
We loved our month at Kettlestone for the quiet relaxing atmosphere.
The “ house angel “ Michette’s daily visit to tidy up was the highlight of our day. This home is better built than 99% of homes in USA. Perfect layout for family and friends to each have their privacy. The pool was perfect, the pier a breezy spot to simply enjoy the sea views and watch for fish, sting rays and turtles. Owner Mike makes a mean pizza in the especially built pizza oven on site.
Andros Island a well kept secret!
The minute we stepped into Kettle Stone we were speechless with the beauty of this place. Mike and Michette were waiting for us with
cold drinks and sandwiches. Every morning we all couldn't wait to see Michette to chat with her. She was part of our family and made sure we were all happy.
The entire trip was a dream come true for all of us. Trying to make everyone (teenagers to grandparents) happy is a very difficult thing to do on vacation. We all laughed, danced, snorkeled, ate and just sat around talking every night.
The dock was one of our favorite places to hang. Sitting out there reading, drinking and seeing the sea turtles swim by, starfish, stingrays and of course Bruce the Barracuda was a lot of fun. The kids loved jumping off the dock as the old folks were able to walk out by the stairs very easily. My father in law that never goes in the ocean to swim and on this trip we couldn't even get him out. We even kayaked over to the small island across the way to snorkel and find shells. After swimming and snorkeling in the sea, we would continue the fun in the pool and hot tub.
We all enjoyed our dinners in with special meals cooked for us to our liking by Kaylee. We had a couple of food allergies and Kaylee was very careful preparing the food and made special meals for them. Just be ready the portions are big. We were able to make two meals out of it. Kaylee and her crew came in set the table, served us the food and cleaned up before she left. The meals were amazing but next time we are asking for 2 banana nut cakes!! Mike made us fresh personal pizzas one night and it was very tasty. Fresh coconut everyday right from the backyard was a treat! We ate out at a few times at a couple local places. The conch salads is a must.
The locals were very friendly and go out of there way to help. We always felt safe and welcomed by all. One day we were all snorkeling at David's Creek and a few of us wanted to go back home. Two men working across the way ran over to us to make sure we were all ok and if something had happened. Once we said no, they went on their merry way and told us if we needed anything to let them know.
Overall, if you want to get away from the busy life and enjoy peace and beauty, then Kettle Stone is the place for you. The only thing I can say that needs improvement are the pictures on line because they don't do it justice at all:) It is truly a magical place!
Michael was great
We had to reschedule our trip last minute due to an emergency. Michael was very helpful and understanding.
5 Star Property
Kettlestone exceeded our expectations in every way. Michael, the owner was extremely accommodating and always a phone call away. We will be back - thanks Mike!
Fantastic Holiday at Kettlestone Villa
All seven guests thought the Villa was luxurious and has fantastic sea views better than the photos, the quality and the service from Micheal and his staff was first class. The cooked food and pizza was excellent. We also enjoyed the fishing and canoeing to the Islands near the reef and generally having a great chill out especially on the dock. What more can you say apart from can’t wait until we return to this beautiful place.
