Independent villa over looking the sea with a breathtaking waterfront view. Direct access to the rocky coast, beside our property. Very private and quiet. Located in Mongerbino, 25 km from Palermo. It's in a strategic point to reach many towns and other sites, of artistic and cultural interest : Monreale, Cefalù, Solunto, Bagheria . Agrigento and its temples are one hour away. Very close to Mongerbino are seaports like Porticello and Aspra great for buying fresh fish . Also at only 50 meters away there is an access to the park of 'Monte Catalfano', great for hiking.
The house is entirely surrounded by a nice garden and has a very big terrace which is divided into two parts; one side is exposed to the sun and has a beautiful view of Capo Zafferano and the other side is protected by an awning which gives you privacy. The inside of the house has been remodelled and has a big and very sunny living room, a kitchen, master bedroom and two other bedrooms. Two of the bedrooms have a breattaking view of the sea. Of course a bathroom with a shower. The house is surrounded by windows and you have a beautiful view wherever you look. It's advisable to have a car because the closest centre is 3 km away.
Our concept of quality: Renting out villa Laura Marie, is carried out directly by the owners. We enjoy the house for some weeks during the year and we try to constantly improve it. We love the house and we hope this feeling reaches our guests while they stay in the villa.
Here are some things we can assure you:
- What you see (in the photos ) is what you get
- An accurate cleaning of the house before you arrive.
- A person that will greet you at the house ( usually the owners ), will show you the villa, explain to you whatever you need to know and answer any question . Written instructions about the house.
- The owner is available to answer any question during the reservation process and even after.
- There will be a great number of panphlets books and maps available in the house regarding Sicily and the area around Mongerbino.
At 50 meters from our villa there is an access to Monte Catalfano park. Some trails will bring you into the Mediterranean scrub and will let you observe from above the coast with Capo Zafferano, the village of Aspra and the town of Bagheria.
Train to Palermo: If you want to avoid using the car to arrive in Palermo, reach Bagheria or Santa Flavia Station, park you car and arrive in the city in 10-15 minutes

About Antonio D.
A clinical psychologist supported by his wife and daughter to take care of the villa. I like to receive our guests and I personally take care with some help of check-in and check-out; I consider very important to welcome the guests, make them feel confortable from the beginning and explain everything about the house and give some information about the area. I love the villa and the nature around it ! We usually spend some weeks in July or August and some spring weekends when possible. I received this house from my parents and refurbished it in 2004 .
Why Antonio D. chose Bagheria
For a full immersion in the nature, for the possibility of watching from the terrace the sea and the sky changing every hour, for a very close access at Monte Catalfano Park, for being a very quiet place at only 25 Km from Palermo. Also for getting a very clean house and for our attention at a simple but stylish interior. We love this house, love to spend some weeks here and try to pass and share this feeling with our guests.

For lovers of the sea, sun - and Limoncello
For its location alone, this gorgeous villa deserves 5 stars: its terrace gives an inspiring, near 180-degree vista of the ocean and an hypnotic backdrop to your stay. The villa forms one of a line of properties which perch on the hillside, yet still retains an air of privacy and being self-contained. We spent a hot week here (in the later days, it rose to 35-40C), and loved it. Beaches aren’t in great supply in this area, but you do have the luxury of your own ‘private’ piece of sea just below the terrace. There are some steep steps and rocks to negotiate – so kids need supervision - but don’t be put off. You’re rewarded with beautifully clear water and the complete absence of anyone else around.
The best beach we did visit was at Cefalu (a good hour away) which is a lovely old town with a long sandy strip and excellent water. Another is the very busy Mondello beach, just north of Palermo. On the day we were there the water was very bitty with seaweed, although clean. We also visited Corleone and the anti-Mafia museum (excellent, and lovely countryside en-route) and our son and his wife made the 6-7 hr round trip to Mount Etna.
There is a pizzeria just 100 metres up the hill with a splendid terrace overlooking the sea. We also had a very good dinner – and copious complimentary Limoncello from the wonderful waiters - at Donna Luisa Osteria in Porticello, 10 minutes away. We also ate well at Can Caus (5 minutes) and with yet more Limoncello on the house. The nearby seaside town of Aspra was also great for a drink before dinner.
The villa itself gave us everything we needed. The kitchen and bathroom are simple, but everything worked and the house has the air of a home, not just another rental property. The owner is charming, helpful and goes to great lengths to ensure that you’re equipped with excellent information. Grazie Antonio!
Without exception, we met warm and welcoming people, patient with our feeble Italian, and it was a pleasure to explore a little of Sicily for the first time. (You will also return home believing you are the best, most law-abiding driver in the world…).
Antonio welcomed us to his family villa very late one night, with charm and patience. We woke up to an incredible view from the terrace, one that just got better and better. The property is obviously loved by its owner and we found it very comfortable. We loved the area which is not touristy and explored during the day and returned to the wonderful terrace in the evening. Thank you for letting us stay. Regards Lynne Day
Fabulous view, luxurious property
This property has a veranda overlooking the sea. It is private & very relaxing. The property inside is beautifully furnished & provides everything you need. It is well located for Palermo, Cefalu and walking in the Madonie National Park. Antonio was a charming and welcoming host.
Villa Laura Marie a very special place
This was our second family visit to the Villa - we returned because we decided it was our favourite ever location and villa. Being just next to the sea is very special and there is always plenty to look at. We tended to buy food locally and cook at the villa making the most of the superb views and climate. However there is plenty to do nearby. We are very fond of the film Cinema Paradiso so we went to many of the locations used in its production including Palazzo Adriano, the main venue. Villa Laura Marie is a beautiful period piece - it has been carefully designed to that you get excellent views of the sea from the inside and the terrace and gardens are wonderful. We are already thinking of a return visit.

Glorious and Wonderful Villa - Sarah-Tony-Ben-Sam
The house is light and breezy, facing the gorgeous Mediterranean with all its sparkle and blue. Capo Zefferano looms to the East (right, facing the sea) and the hills behind Palermo to the West. The house feels secluded even though there are neighbors on both sides. The patios are wonderful and one can always find shade as the sun moves around, behind, the house over the course of the day. The kitchen is more than functional and has the "right" pots for vacation cooking with a family. The beds are comfortable (we slept four in three rooms) and the living space is big enough to be able to find a private nook for reading or thinking. (TV and WiFi are good.) The gulls and doves "debate, argue, and comment" amusingly, through the day. The mosquitos are a fact of life but as long as you prepare for them and keep the screen doors closed, all is well. The house is quiet, surrounded by lovely gardens tended to by Vincenzo and nestled up snug against its cliff; even the busy weekend traffic on single-laned Via Perez is not noticeable. Porticello is close by for shopping and there are numerous green markets there. Day excursions to Cefalú or Trapani or Agrigento are easily done. For a day trip to Palermo, one can take the short (15 minute) train trip from Bagheria but one needs a car to reach the station. In fact, a car is pretty much necessary for this property, although my son and I did walk to Porticello for groceries one day. It's about 8 kilometres round trip and uphill much of the way back. (Just a note, a small car with an excellent turning radius is preferable for negotiating the steep driveway and small turn around at the bottom.) The swimming is not for little children but is otherwise spectacular. Steep steps lead down to the rocky base of the cliff. On carefully sliding over barnacled rocks decorated with mossy seaweed into the sea, one is immediately in deep water with swell and, depending on the wind and tide, some waves sloshing into the rocky cove. Once past those waves the swimming is delightful There is occasionally a tow. For swimming with small children there are two beaches off the road to Porticello. There are plenty of places to eat in beautiful Porticello. Antica Pizzeria La Punta is worth it just for the view, but the food is excellent as well. The property was very clean when we arrived and Antonio and Debbie are terrific hosts. We would enthusiastically recommend this property to others and also to our family.
Two more thoughts on the VillaLauraMarie -
The wifi and TV are excellent (we have been watching the EuroCup for the whole week. Also, the pictures on line represent the house and property as they are. It really is as beautiful as they suggest!
Villa Laura Marie is in Mongerbino, in a very quiet area but only 25 km from Palermo, and 6 km. from the highway ( Palermo-Catania ) in a strategic point to visit western and central Sicily. Very close to Mongerbino seaports like Porticello , full of restaurants, and Aspra, both great for buying fresh fish. In Bagheria ( 10 minutes away ), known for the villas that noble people built in the 18th century, you can find whatever you need ( stores, food shops, gift shops and a variety of services ) and visit villa Palagonia and the gallery of villa Cattolica. At only 50 meters from the gate of the house the access to the park of 'Monte Catalfano': easy trails that bring you to wonderful views of the coast and of near towns and villages, great for hiking. Very close the ellenistic site of Solunto, with a beautiful view of the coast. . Palermo, the capital of Sicily is a big Mediterranean city, rich of artistic sites and full of the traces of the different peoples and civilizations of its past ( Romans, Arabs, Normans, Swabians and Bourbons ). You can not miss Palermo's baroque palaces and churches, the Byzantine mosaics of the Palatine chapel, the cathedral that unites Gothic and Norman art. In the vicinity other sites of artistic and cultural interest (Monreale, Cefalù, Solunto). Agrigento and its temples are about one hour away as Trapani.
