The cottage is a river cabin, right on the Rock River in Rock Island Illinois in the Quad Cities. Drop down the lane and you are in the country. Back up the lane and you have everything you could need: restaurants, bank, shopping, groceries, hospital, and so many things to do for everyone and every like! The winter is beaufitul as well. See ducks, geese, deer, and watch 50 plus eagles during Bald Eagle Days in January and February from the comfort of your cabin.

The Cottage has a full kitchen, living room with french doors out to a large deck that over looks the river. Come sit and eat your dinner or have drinks on the deck table and chairs looking out on the river. The 2 bedrooms are plenty big with a huge bathroom with tub/shower. Park your car in the attached garage. If you have friends or family who may be interested, we have another rental next door to this rental that others could stay at. That is VRBO listing 304756 if you care to take a look.

Bring your fishing pole for the river, or watch from the deck the Backwater Gamblers ski show that perform every Wednesday and Sunday night.

No parties or events.

We do agree to a small family or a couple friends, (example: 4 guests of our guest and one extra car over for an afternoon or evening). We have very limited parking and facilities for a small number of people. Thank You.

About Jeff and Rosanne Puck

My husband and I were always taking our 2 sons as they were growing up on the Rock River and the Mississippi boating, skiing, tubing, and just having fun on the shores. We lived in Davenport, Ia and always looking for a place on the river to make our home. That finally came true in 1999. We love it here and want to share it with all of you! We had rented several vacation cabins/houses from Estes Park, Colorado, Okoboji, Iowa, Minnesota, Canada to Florida. We realized we have just as nice vacation area right here. Please come and enjoy!

Jeff and Rosanne Puck purchased this cottage in 2013

High expectations met!

  • 5 of 5

Having been an owner and a resident on "The Rock" many years ago, I was looking forward to spending time on the river again. Rented both cottages for my family. I wasn't looking for elegance, but a river cottage experience. The thought and effort Jeff and Rosanne Puck put into making their properties cozy and inviting was very obvious. We are all talking of returning sometime. Hats off to Jeff and Rosanne.

Clean, simple, quiet.

  • 4 of 5

Had everything we needed for our four night stay. Love seeing the ducks on the river, and an old tree trunk in the water that looks like the "Loch Ness Monster."

Very nice and quaint !

It was a great spot and the deck was awesome! Just perfect for me, my husband and baby and my parents! The only thing was the AC wasn't working and it was hot at night.

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for your kind review of our Cottage. So sorry you found it hot at night! We had just taken out all window air conditioners for the winter since it was the 3rd week of October and temps had been in the 70's in the daytime here in the midwest. Glad you found our rental was in a great area and that you enjoyed the deck overlooking the river!!! We'll hold off on taking out the air conditioners that soon in the future to be sure everyone's stay is totally comfortable.

Wonderful Place to Get Away

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay very much. The view from the deck is peaceful and relaxing. While a bit rustic, the cottage itself was clean and comfortable. We visit Rock Island (from Michigan) every year or two. This is the first time we checked Home Away for lodging. We stayed for three nights and definitely would come back. We met Rosanne the first day. She gave us a warm welcome, answered a few questions we had and let us know she was available if we needed anything else. The one problem we had was finding the right entrance off Blackhawk Road to get to the cottage. (For future reference, the entrance is right next to a lighted sign for "Caliber Home Loans." This quickly became our landmark.) Once there, however, we were very pleased, and would recommend this cottage for anyone looking for a quiet place to stay.

Quiet and beautiful scenery

  • 5 of 5

I was looking for a place to stay in the Quad Cities for my 3 brothers and myself. This cottage was perfect for us to hang out and relax. The scenery was cool and it was quiet.

Idyllic spot

  • 5 of 5

Nothing fancy but exactly what was needed. Spent most of our time on the deck looking out on the river and grilling. Great hiking a stone's throw away. Jeff and Rosanne were friendly but gave us space. It was great to be able to bring my dog, and she loved it too!

The cottage is right on the Rock River next door to our 'Vacation Cabin' that some of you may be familiar with that we have been renting since 2009. So, if you and another family are interested in more space, we now have it! When you step outside, the yard extends to the river and you can walk right down to it. There is a wonderful large deck to view the river and the wildlife from. Just up river, you can see the Backwater Gambler's Ski Show every Wednesday and Sunday nights. There are plenty of other things to do and the Quad Cities Convention Bureau site can tell you what is going on during the time you are vacationing. There are several golf courses, bicycling, the zoo is very nice, Celebration River Cruises and the Catfish tour boat stopping many places for you to get out and sight see, shop or eat on the Mississippi River. Lots of live entertainment, and The Rock is a Restaurant/bar that you could walk to that has live entertainment every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday night, and Sunday afternoon. I-Wireless Center has big name star concerts almost every weekend. If not concerts, they are home to the Quad City Mallards Hockey team, Basketball, rodeos, demolition car derbys, circus, and on-and-on.
