Management Retreat

  • 4 of 5

The venue was very clean, had a number of amenities and the owner was very communicative throughout the entire rental. There is not much land with the property for socializing outside except for the the 3 large decks. The Boat house is updated decor. The main house is a bit aged but in good shape.

I would recommend this location to others.

Nice Place for a Getaway

  • 4 of 5

We were three families with teenage boys looking to get away from the City for a couple of days after Christmas. The cottage is very clean, has many beautiful decks (though we didn't use them), and is well kept. The kitchen was well-equipped and everything was quite new and clean. We had no issues with the internet, even with all the boys. The layout is kind of like a tree fort with spiral staircases and a ladder to top floor bathroom, so not recommended for toddlers or anyone with limited mobility.

Amazing New Years Trip!

  • 5 of 5

A group of us 10 went up for the New Years break and had a great time. The cottage is spacious, extremely clean and well kept, and had everything that you would need. The kitchen is equipped with pots, pans, cooking supplies, and anything else that you would require. The cottage has multiple rooms that accommodate large groups that were extremely spacious. There was also lots of board games, DVDs, and a game room to enjoy. The cottage has a really cool lay out and and of the rooms and bathrooms are funky! Linens and bath towels were provided which were extremely clean (like in a hotel). The grounds of the cottage were beautiful. Although we did not get to enjoy the boathouse since it was winter, it looks very beautiful as well. We also enjoyed the fire out in a toasty winter night! The cottage is easily accessible and the driveways and paths were plowed prior to our arrival. Overall we had an amazing time and we would definitely return!! Thank you a warren for being a gracious host and replying to us whenever we had a question.

great cottage

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in mid-September with family and friends, including a couple babies under 2 yrs. Everyone had a great time and it suited all of our needs. Both cottages were very clean and very well maintained (which is always my main concern especially with babies). The bedrooms in the main house weren’t completely sound proof, so if you’re a light sleeper, bring ear plugs. Both kitchens were fully stocked with everything we needed. The boat house was amazing, the deck literally sits over the water and the view is just so pretty.

The wifi… I didn’t have any issues with, but we had one person who was trying to work remotely, said it was a bit spotty.

Warren and his assistant were great…they were always quick to respond. The cottage is pretty much exactly as it presents on VRBO ad. We really enjoyed ourselves and even extended our stay. Would love to go back again next year!

Decent cottage but more than a few complaints!

  • 2 of 5

We rented this cottage with family for a week in the middle of August. The weather was great and sitting by the lake was nice. However I do have several complaints or items future renters should be aware of!

1) The WiFi here is NON EXISTENT! We stayed in the boat house with our baby and had a baby mondo that uses the WiFi. It was never working and we constantly had to come up from the water or down from the main house to check on her. When you are spending thousands of dollars to rent this place having WiFi that works in an absolute must. Many others also complained of this. Poor choice on the part of the owner.

2) There is a crab apple tree which means there were tons of BEES!!! Both my father in law and brother in law were stung. I have a bee allergy and was on edge all week. Not sure why a rental property would have a fruit tree especially one that isn't kept up with (e.g. The fruit was not picked up and thus attracted bees).

3) The 'firewood' we paid $150 for was pieces of old broken dock boards. It was barely enough wood for a fire on two nights. Stop on the way up and purchase your own wood.

4) There were wires hanging out of the holes in several of the walls in the boathouse and on the outside of the boathouse as well.

5)The staircases are spirals! This wasn't shown in the pictures and did make moving up and down the stairs a challenge.

6) Stairs!! We had to walk 100 stairs from the water up the main cottage. While this isn't a problem for us it would be dangerous for young children, and difficult for elderly people or someone with mobility issues.

7) My father in law informed me that part of our security deposit was kept. He said he was told because the screen door needed repairs and the stove in the boat house was scratched. The screen door was left open all the time as we were in and out so much. So I am not sure how any damage was done. We stayed in the boat house and used the stove once. There was not a scratch on it when we left so I don't believe this claim to be true. We would have called the owner had we actually caused any damage and let him know right away. It is really disappointing to hear that. It makes me wonder if he does this to other renters?

Owner's Response: Thanks for taking time for this review in addition to your previous one! Thanks for noting the apple trees that do not exist on my property (we have never had issues with bees or wasps). Our staircases are clear as day in all our photographs. We take great pride in providing a great experience for all our guests. There is no part of this home that has been left unfinished. It was noted after your departure, that you in fact caused damage to a screen door, a glass oven top and left the house in unsatisfactory condition. In our rental agreement, for $150.00CAD we provide linens for all beds and firewood for your first night. We as property owners recommend that all tenants read the property rental agreement and communicate if there are any questions. - Warren
