About the property

Spacious Four Bedroom Home

Lajitas Casa Grande is conveniently located in the resort community of Lajitas. Guests have access to the golf course, restaurants and more. Easy access to Big Bend National Park, Big Bend Ranch State Park, and Terlingua Ghost Town.

Lajitas Texas has long been known as 'the ultimate hideout'. This remote resort community offers first class comforts among the rugged mountains of Big Bend. Lajitas Casa Grande continues that tradition with a spacious four bedroom home for your family or group.

Lajitas Casa Grande is ideally located for easy access to all of the resort facilities in Lajitas and adventures throughout the Big Bend. Enjoy world-class golfing at Black Jack's Crossing. Pamper yourself at the Agave Spa. Saddle up at the Equestrian Center. Visit the famous Terlingua Ghost town. Ride the rapids along the Rio Grande. Or venture into Big Bend National Park or Big Bend Ranch State Park.

When you’re not busy enjoying the amenities of the resort or the adventures of the mountains and desert, you and your family or group will have plenty of space to relax and unwind at Casa Grande. The large living room, open dining room, and well stocked kitchen provide ample indoor space for hanging out in air-conditioned comfort. The front porch and rear decks are great for relaxing outside while enjoying mountain scenery, breathtaking sunrises and sunsets, or mesmerizing starry nights. The four bedrooms are comfortably furnished with high quality beds and linens for a great night’s sleep. Various books and games are provided for everyone’s enjoyment.

We all need an occasional break from our everyday life. Lajitas Casa Grande will provide you with a once in a lifetime escape and adventure. Of course, it does not have to be JUST once in a lifetime. You are welcome to come back again and again. We hope and suspect that you will.

About Janet Eby

The first time my girlfriend took me to Big Bend and Lajitas I fell in love with her and Texas. Soon after, we got hitched, started a family and continued to visit our favorite hideaway. That was three decades ago and to this day every time I visit Lajitas it still takes my breath away. The sheer beauty, isolation, stars, wildlife, fresh air, Rio Grande, people, haunting silence, hiking, trail riding and eateries are so worth the trip.

Janet Eby purchased this house in 2012

Why Janet Eby chose Big Bend Country

For years we looked for just the right property in Lajitas as it has all the creature comforts of home and is nestled in an oasis of beauty surrounded by three gigantic state and national parks totaling 1.8 million acres, Big Bend Ranch State Park, Big Bend National Park and Parque Nacional Canon de Santa Elena. Recently we found a perfect getaway in Lajitas Casa Grande and decided to share it in the hope that others might experience the same enchantment and inspiration we have found. In all my wanderings, I have never left Lajitas without a sense of wonder, peace and contentment. If you decide to venture out this way, I sincerely hope you'll find what you're looking for.

What makes this house unique

With four bedrooms, a large living room and a common area upstairs, you and your crew will have lots of room to spread out and relax. Of course, you may not want to relax long. Lajitas, Big Bend National Park, Big Bend Ranch State Park and the Terlingua Ghost Town will keep you busy ... if you want to be.

House was decent, had issue with management

  • 3 of 5

Our stay at Lajitas Casa Grande was very good. The house was decent and the area was pretty and fun. I was sent some outdated information in my reservation packet regarding available channels, but that was cleared up quickly. My issue came after our stay was completed. I had to disable the battery operated smoke detector because it was chirping the entire first night of our stay. No big deal. We got busy with tours and exploring the area, so I forgot to email Janet about that. The day after we left Casa Grande, I got a very snotty email from her accusing me of smoking in the house. She went so far as to say she found cigarette butts on the property! We explored every inch of that property with the kids and there was nothing of the sort. There was no "distinct smell of smoke" in that one bedroom. We don't smoke. We have never smoked. We did not smoke in or around that house. It was musty, but we just figured it the smell of a dusty, desert environment. I don't know if there were really new renters in the house, but she said they were complaining about the smoke smell! Impossible, unless her cleaning crew came in and there lit up. She attempted to charge me additional per the paperwork I signed agreeing not to smoke. Uh, no.

Unfortunately, that exchange put a damper on the vacation. I would have given the house itself 4 stars.

Owner's Response: *Please note that the smoking fee was waived as soon as the guest denied smoking. There was no charge.* After eight years of managing vacation rentals, this is the first time we have ever sought to charge a smoking fee for violation of our no-smoking policy. We’ve suspected smoking in the past but have never been as certain as in this case. In addition to managing the property, we perform all of the cleaning ourselves and pay very close attention to such details. My name is Janet and I'm very sensitive to many smells, but only smoke induces an asthmatic like reaction. Upon entry, I had to leave the room immediately. I noted the smoke alarm was taken down and disabled. The guests claim this was because it was chirping. However, we reconnected it without changing the battery and tested it. It has worked, without chirping, for several days now. Also, despite the claims to the contrary, there were cigarette butts left in the backyard. If I had to guess, I’d say the guest is sincere, but maybe a member of her party smoked inside the room in question without her knowledge or consent. However, since she was unaware, we waived the fee. Finally, if my email seemed serious in nature it is because we value our properties and the comfort for all of our guests.

Desert Oasis

  • 5 of 5

This home is very comfortable and spacious. It's a bit hard to tell from the photos, but there are two upstairs bedrooms with queen beds, a master bedroom downstairs with a king bed, and a fourth bedroom downstairs with two twins. There's a large playroom upstairs, and an open dining-living room downstairs (with a very comfy couch and streaming Netflix!). The house is spotless, the kitchen is well-stocked, and the owners were very friendly and responsive. I hope to stay there again.

Perfect Big Bend base camp.

  • 5 of 5

We shared the house with two other couples (55+) for a total of five nights and used it as our base for hiking and exploring the Big Bend area attractions including the Boquillis crossing into Mexico.

Great accommodations overall. Well stocked kitchen utensils and dishes, ample bedding and bath supplies. House flooring and furnishings are well suited for the environment.

Great views and access to local attractions in Terlingua and Lajitas. Everyone loved the stay and will use the house for future trips to the area

Gorgeous home with incredible views, perfect base for exploring Big Bend!

  • 5 of 5

My family (husband, me, 6 & 8 yr old kids) stayed three nights at Casa Grande. We LOVED our stay and highly recommend this property! The home was clean, safe, had beautiful views, and was a great base for our trip to Big Bend. The home is roomy with 4 bedrooms and a play room upstairs with several games to play. There was no cable but there is Netflix which was awesome! There is also WIFI and our AT&T cell phones worked great. In the evening we sat out on the back deck or the front porch and sipped wine while we watched the sun set and the amazing starry sky. Absolutely beautiful! We traveled to Casa Grande from Fort Davis/Marfa and drove on scenic hwy 170, stopping to hike at Closed Canyon in the state park (just 30 minutes from the home). We brought a cooler from home and filled it with groceries we purchased in Fort Davis so we were able to cook several meals at Casa Grande which was so nice! The drive from Casa Grande to Terlingua is 10-15 min and exploring the ghost town cemetery and Starlight Theatre were so fun! It is just a 20-25 minute drive from Casa Grande to the Maverick Junction entrance to the park so it was a perfect base to explore the park and then come home in the late afternoon to relax. We very much enjoyed this lovely home, thank you for sharing it with us!

Very nice accommodations and great location for exploring Big Bend

  • 5 of 5

Our family really enjoyed our stay at Casa Grande. We used the very nicely equipped kitchen every day and took daily trips into the park which is within easy travel distance. Great detailed instructions for arrival and check-out. Everything was as it was stated. Comfortable beds, nice linens, plenty of extra towels, blankets, kitchen stocked with nice dishes , glassware and bake ware and a few pantry items.

Nice place that we hope to return to again. We were six adults and the house could most definitely accommodate more people comfortably.
